The Drive is a three piece independent acoustic rock band founded in the winter of 2000 near the geographical center of Michigan's Lower Peninsula in Grand Rapids. Its intentions strive to mold a diversely appealing new acoustic sound, along with an equally appealing live performance. Metaphorically seen as a melting pot of genres, members of The Drive are diversely inspired, educated, and experienced in the music styles of punk, metal, folk, rock, and funk. Lyrically, The Drive speaks to its audience from psychological sub-settings of day-to-day instances that border between trite and powerful - ideals aimed at understanding what can be found in the lives of most young adults. Members of The Drive are divided between Manistee, MI (Bryan Southerton - Acoustic Guitar, Lead Vocals, Primary Music Writer 'Music Industry Management Major @ FSU' , Brad Southerton - Drums, Back-Up Vocals, Secondary Music Writer, Secondary Lyricist 'Music Industry Management Major @ FSU'), and Midland, MI (Randy Ray - Bass, Back-Up Vocals 'Music Industry Management Major @ FSU'). Other team members crucial to The Drive's evolving success are located in Lubbock, TX (Mario Casa de Calvo - Primary Lyricist 'Doctoral Student of Psychology @ TTU') and Marquette, MI (Michael Southerton - Website Design & Management, Graphic Design, Photography, Tertiary Music Writer 'Electronic Imaging Major at NMU'). The Drive performs, writes, records, and promotes all original music on a regular basis. Drive Live Music Songs | 1. | Intro |

| | Rick Franz Bounced Off Water CD (2005)
Live Music
$16.45 Bounced Off Water comes about in response to a dream I had one night. In the dream I left my body, and was taken from my bed, in spirit form, on a long journey through space. My guide, another spirit, communicated with me telepathically as we traveled together. I felt excited, very at ease, loved. We eventually came to a place in the cosmos where there existed a massive, gelatinous, oval, yellowish cell. It was chock full with a multitude of miserable beings I came to call, for lack of a better term, "lost souls." They were disconnected from all of humanity and even from each other within the cell. Their loneliness, fear, and suffering were eternal by their perception. My guide communicated to me that I could ease their suffering and reconnect them to humanity by using my music and bouncing it off water. Music came from my chest like rays of light, and was aimed downward below the cell. There appeared a pool of water: a circular, aqueous mirror, floating in the middle of space. The light beams struck the pool and bounced back up into the cell. The faces I could see through the jellied walls of the cell looked relieved. They were smiling...I awoke elated, and with what I thought was going to be an incredible CD project. Over the course of the following year - 2003 - I shared the dream and project with many friends and musicians. The response was always supportive, often enthusiastic. Even when I would lose my focus on it, folks here and there would remind me of the special nature of the project. It was taking on a life of its own. It grew arms and legs one morning when, as I awoke, and in that place between being awake and asleep, I saw the stage, the sets, the band and the dancers. "Oh!" I said, ""It's a stage production - not just a CD!"THE PLOTWe open with the deep stage and only the center screen exposed. The two side screens are obscured from view.Click to Play"The BOWverture"Click to Play"The BOWverture" is playing, almost prematurely, as the audience settles. The overture previews the progression of the whole show, so as it evolves over the course of its twelve minutes the video also reflects that progression. Initially the ambience, light, and images are ethereal. Scenes of the world's tragedies follow. Then a "ray" ...

| | Moth Wranglers Never Better CD (2004)
Live Music
$12.69 Flare's L.D. Beghtol returns, with the help of ex-King Missile member Chris Xefos as the wonderfully orchestral Moth Wranglers. The pair are joined by nine others to create a collection of seven superbly crafted songs that are much lighter than Beghtol's work in Flare. The follow-up to 2001's Never Mind the Context, Never Better is an interesting ride. "Never Said 'I'm Sorry'" starts off the disc in toe-tapping fashion, followed by the moodier "Love and Jump Back." "Overnight Sensation" is a vocals-based trance, while a cover of the Pixies' "No. 13 Baby" is a seven-and-a-half-minute circus, with unexpected changes always around the corner. The album's seamless flow energizes the sometimes lethargic pace, resulting in an astoundingly provocative collection. "Better Off Alone" concludes the mini-album ...
