MARK MURPHEYTHAT'S WHO I AM__Mark Murphey's latest release, That's Who I Am, features nine original songs and three cover songs. Mark's career as a singer-songwriter spans the past two decades with most of that time spent with The Class Band. Mark writes, sings, auctioneers, flips burgers, is a good mechanic, and re-builds John Deere tractors.The That's Who I Am project was recorded over a seventeen year period with two common elements - Mark Murphey and Lloyd Maines. It features some of the best Texas musicians and is summed up in a line from Amarillo Highway - "I don't wear a Stetson but I'm willing to bet son that I'm big a Texan as you are." California Wine was first released in the eighties and charted on Bill Board. It remains a timely tune destined to becoming a classic. Low and Lonely and Oklahoma Pride are also Mark Murphey originals. Mark co-wrote, Down in Mexico, The Devil Took Your Mind, Georgia on His Mind, Winter Night, That's Who I Am, and Mary Go Round.Also on the album, Mark does a great job with Terry Allen's Amarillo Highway, Michael Nesmith's I Just Began to Care and the old Johnny Horton "mover" On A Honky Tonk Hardwood Floor. Joanna's robust voice sounds great on many country classic and contemporary songs but when you add her yodeling to the mix, you have a definite show stopper. From the moment she began singing in church at age 2, Joanna has been belting out a song. In 1999, she saw Margo Smith (the Tennessee Yodeler) perform at Dollywood and decided she wanted to yodel. She did just that and has learned many different styles. This CD entitled "What's Not to Love" was produced by Dick McVey at Moonlight Studios in Nashville.
