Watch Your Back music CDs
$13.99 Taylor Swift abandons any pretense that she's a teen on her second album, FEARLESS--which isn't to say that she suddenly tarts herself up, running away from her youth in a manner that's all too familiar to many teen stars. Swift's maturation is deliberate and careful, styled after the crossover country-pop of Shania Twain and Faith Hill before they turned into divas. Despite the success of her self-titled 2006 debut, there's nothing at all diva-like about Swift on FEARLESS: she's soft-spoken and considerate, ...

Watch Your Back CD music
$11.49 An icon of the Boston scene, rocker and songstress Jennifer Matthews has been compared to the likes of PJ Harvey, Radiohead and Ben Harper to name a few.Her songs are missions from the frontlines of life and have been described as melodic, infectious and haunting. Matthews studied vocal performance at the University of Colorado in Boulder and at Denver's School of Music. While in Colorado, she established herself as a solo artist, performing in local bars and coffeehouses. During this period she developed her unique vocal style and her songs gained recognition, leading to several awards from the Rocky Mountain Music Association. After a three-month tour through Japan, Korea and Hawaii, Matthews relocated to New York where she formed the five-piece band Beautiful Mud. After a highly acclaimed debut release and performing for several years in New York City clubs, the band separated. Jennifer moved to Boston to embark on a solo career. She has cultivated a sophisticated blend of rock with hints of mood & blues on her electric Baritone guitar. While maintaining her strong background in rootsy rock, she slings her blue Martin, combining both instruments equally into her distinctive style. Built from her three previous releases (Treehouse Studios - NY City, Shot To The Wind – Boston and Blue In Blue Out - Tremolo Lounge, Worcester), her compilation album Best of 96-01 featured three unreleased songs: "Falling Star", "Heaven To Me" and "..45 Warren Street." The album released by Marc Mathys is an eclectic collection and shows her depth and diversity as a songwriter as well as a guitarist. Blue In Blue Out out was produced by Marc Copely. In 2003, Jennifer was nominated for a poetry award by the Cambridge Arts Council for her book of poetry released under Somerville's Ibbetson Street Press, "Fairy Tales and Misdemeanors". In May of 2004 Jennifer teamed up with her current manager Rose Gardina and went on to record "The Wheel" which was released in May of 2005 on Thundamoon Records (Independent).Produced by Brian Brown and Jennifer they took the songs to new levels by adding some electronica and loops to her roots rock sound. She followed up with a West Coast tour including performing at the San Diego Indie Music Festival. In August of 2005, Metronome Music Magazine featured Jennifer as their cover story with a full interview. Shaun McNamara writes "...Matthews and artists like Ann Wilson, Pat Benatar, Doro Pesch and Liz Phair are dissimilar in music style and sound but they all embody an ability to be recognized as straight out rockers. Not female rockers, not rock chicks, and certainly not advocates for a spotlight of women in music. They have no need for a one trick pony. They stood or stand ...

Watch Your Back CD music
$16.69 Reviews Blue TopazIngemar Ohlsson/Björn Elmgren/Les Jolies/Anna with bandWith vocal styling that lands smack in the middle of Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck comes the music project Blue Topaz. This is pure vegas-style vocal pop tunes – dramatically performed in English by Swede, Björn Elmgren, and composed by lifelong artist/musician, Ingemar Ohlsson. The songs are expertly written with memorable lyrics and melodies, all blended with full orchestra, backing vocals, and solid band. The music supports Elmgren´s voice – and his voice rides confidently and emotionally above the composition and gives the gift of sincerity to Ohlsson´s music. The opening and title track, “The Blue Topaz”, is the “smorgasbord” promised as background vocals alaThe Rayettes, spoken words, and composition that stops/starts, changes, and ultimately provides a stage pop performing vehicle for Elmgren. Nice. Track 2, “Fly Away”, showcases the vocal range of Elmgren, as well as the compositional range of Ohlsson. This samba-ish piece combines Percy Faith-ish background vocals with grooving organ/strings and mood. The long mp3 here, “Finding the Way”, starts as a riding-trail mover – appropriate based on the title. Lyrics describe “reaching for a better time, singing a song and searching along...never give up trying again...” Track 7, “Fly My Souls”, is a souring ballad. Elmgren sings, “tell my soul how to find hope, tell my soul where she must go, good bye”. The final track, “Walking in the Night”, is a more contemporary mix with single note guitar lines surrounding the vocals and background lushness that has been produced by Ohlsson. The CD is perfect for anyone who appreciates 50’s 60’s style pop tunes, stage trained vocals, traditional music/melody writing, and Vegas sensibilities.Don Kimenker at www.earbuzz.com/bluetopaz Benicia, California, USAIngemar Ohlsson started his musical career as both a clarinettist and saxophonist playing in many different bands in his home country Sweden. At the age of fifteen he started to play the cello. In his late teens, he found full time employment as a military musician, staying for all of six years; in fact even after quitting he still played in the band part-time. During his military career he continued to practise the cello whenever he could. His love of the instrument and his dedication to practise eventually saw him getting a position as cellist in the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra in Sweden. After a couple of years playing in this orchestra he moved to Prague in the Czech Republic and started to study at ...
