Reverse Causality is different from other compilations of its nature because it thrives on the random chance of finding amazing artists while trawling the internet and hearing new and striking sounds as these artists collaborate. The objective behind Reverse Causality as it was being compiled was to create an album unrestricted by genre, an album for people who enjoy good music in whatever form it may take. The results exceeded our wildest imagination, meandering between pounding beats, raucous riffs, acoustic bliss and the blues (of course). Though my words may be more than a little biased, I honestly believe that each and every song on this disc is a gem that, though unlike its counterparts, still blends perfectly with them into an eclectic mix that is bound to surprise and delight. Our artists come from all over the western world and all over the musical spectrum, and yet they share a passion for music that makes them apt contemporaries. Reverse Causality begins wildly with the hilariously serious beats of G-Willikuz before progressing on to a trio of perfect Indie-pop compositions courtesy of Dog Day, Fast Heart Mart and Annie Lo and another upbeat note by Peach Stealing Monkeys. Following this auspicious beginning Reverse Causality takes you into deep passage of subtle IDM/Electronica throbbing featuring a couple of our notable collaborations first between khjzhy and Xaieroscape and then between The Chill Conspiracy and Sebastian Svahn. Just as one is being lulled into a dream the electronica is abruptly broken by Peach Stealing Monkey’s NIN-like elaboration on Gunshy’s ‘Pride’. We have reached our rock section and the monkeys are soon joined by the wrath of Anarchic Hand and Ten to Never. But rock can only last for so long before it degenerates into the Lo-Fi poetry of I’d Die for Lo-Fi, Dakar Rally and The Ugly Nephew, the latter featuring one of the more impressive crescendos of noise you will hear for a long time. All good things must come to an end, but Reverse Causality fades out in style with a triplet of mind-numbing tracks from Xaieroscape, Gunshy and the Chill Conspiracy, the first and the last featuring contributions by expert producer Sebastian Svahn. In other news Reverse Causality also constitutes the first release by fledgling label Ugly Nephew Records. The philosophy behind Ugly Nephew Records is to contradict the major labels in two important ways. First we sell our music as cheaply as we can. Secondly we create music specifically tailored for niche markets rather than made as general (and unfulfilling) as possible. Hopefully Reverse Causality is a strong first-step in this direction. $11.95 After a five-year gap, the follow-up to 1998's lauded MEZZANINE finds Massive Attack picking up right where they left off, as though no time had passed at all. The trademark mix of downtempo electronica, slithery trip-hop, darkly ambient atmospherics, and spacious dub production ...
| | Emma Shapplin Carmine Meo CD (1997)
Reverse Causality music CDs
$10.49 CARMINE MEO is a pop-classical hybrid by opera singer Emma Shapplin.
Every year or two somebody from the classical world gets the bright idea to record a classical album with a little something extra for the groundlings: some percussion, some sound effects, maybe some strings. Sometimes the result is insulting, sometimes it's just gilding the lily, and sometimes it works. Carmine Meo, however, sidesteps this problematic phenomenon altogether by making up its own classical music and then turning it into pop. That's right, most of the numbers on the album, even though they sound like lush, romantic arias, are originals.
And despite the disheveled-hair packaging of ...

Reverse Causality songs
$21.55 Fr. Stan Fortuna has been playing music since the 2nd grade when his father gave him his first instrument for Christmas - a red electric guitar! His love for music grew into early adulthood as he began the life long journey of learning the art of improvising by practicing countless hours and playing lots of sessions in the New York area. It was during that time that Fortuna began hearing his true calling in life and was eventually ordained a Catholic priest. He is one of the eight original members of the Community of Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, a community established in the Archdiocese of New York under the jurisdiction of John Cardinal O'Connor in 1987.Fr. Stan established Francesco ...

Reverse Causality CD music
$8.55 "This is a gem of a collection that fans of the genre should definitely seek out. Haslam's "Utterance" is full of swirling dervish drones, along with an unsettling undercurrent of haunting sounds, including the synth drone equivalent of creaking floorboards. Creepy stuff. Tsuru's "Several Levels Down" is softer and a touch brighter, with feathery soft synth pads and breathy textures. Sparse bass notes give a hint of structure to hang upon, just barely. Embracing The Glass's "Radiation Generation" moves into almost pure drone tones, with just a slight pulsing quality to give it a sense of movement, along with very subtle building of additional layers. It is dark yet soothing. Droune's "Mineral Orb" sounds like a sample of a slowed down gong, definitely with a mineral or metallic timbre. My favorite is SanRenSei's "Dream," with a deep low synth pad and soft light shimmers above it. More abstract and very cool is Collision Sect's "Counteracting Gravity," an interesting looping piece. Reaching for the perfect drone is Circle Tempal with "This is Where We Sleep at Night." However, unlike pure drone music ...

| | End Of Level Boss Inside The Difference Engine CD (2007) Digipak
Reverse Causality CD music
$11.45 On their second album, the English quartet End of Level Boss continue to pursue their retro-futurist brand of metal -- an odd term to use, but their overt love of digital and mechanistic imagery, further reinforced by a computer-derived title that could take in both Charles Babbage and William Gibson, often seems rooted in a stylistic place nearly two decades past. It could be equally argued, though, that the times have finally caught up with them -- when bands like Metallica and Voivod were delivering their late-'80s indictments of the military machine, the only major war was a cold one. Songs like "Selfishnegativibemerchant" and "Words Have No Meaning" aren't specifically addressing the current times, admittedly, but in the blend of crisp post-thrash arrangements and sprawling howls and soloing ...

$21.49 Mandolin CaravanBuilt on a musical partnership between Matt Turk and Kevin Hupp, Mandolin Caravan explores centuries-old Hebrew folk songs and melodies in updated arrangements that feature vocals, mandolin, guitar, percussion, bass, accordion, clarinet and cello. It's a magical musical interweaving of traditional and modern sensibilities, proof that songs from the heart can cross the boundaries of time and space. The group's repertoire is, indeed, ...
