| | George Benson Greatest Hits Of All CD (2003) Remastered
Short Stories CD music
$10.19 Recorded between 1976 & 1998. Includes liner notes by Don Heckman.
Basically, this "greatest hits of all" is simply that: the highest-charting tracks in George Benson's long career -- highest-charting pop and adult contemporary tracks, that is. Benson had been on the scene over a decade before signing with Warner Bros., and many of his jukebox and R&B hits were recorded for Creed Taylor's CTI label. ...

| | Kamal Musallam On A Jordan River's Side CD (2003)
Short Stories songs
$17.05 As I sit pondering the piece of Palestrina polyphony, a technique used both by Stanley Jordan - handyman of Jazz – and most bootleg DJs, there’s me thinking I’m already familiar with most complex of global music genres. But as I call up thirty-three year old Jordanian guitarist Kamal Musallam I realize I’m to discover another. Arabic Jazz? It may not sound that multifarious but I had never heard the two musical categories played together before. ‘I like to express my Middle Eastern influence as well as my western knowledge into the music I play,’ says the full time musician who began learning the accordion at the tender age of three, the guitar at eight, and as a teenager taught himself the Arabic classics on the oud. ‘I spent six years in the west in Switzerland and France (where I learnt about Jazz) although my roots are, well, primarily Jordanian but I lived in Kuwait for nine years, Lebanon for some time and now in the UAE.’ With such travel comes much extensive musical authority and it’s no wonder ...

| | Ray Alexander Cloud Patterns CD (1988)
Short Stories CD music
$13.69 Ray started his musical career as a drummer, playing with Claude Thornhill, Bobby Byrne, the Dorsey Brothers, Stan Getz, Joe Venuti, Mel Torme, Johnny Smith, Chubby Jackson and many others. He later switched to vibes (the vibraphone) and worked with George Shearing, Charlie Barnet, Bill Evans, Anita O'Day, Mel Lewis; all in all, a "who's who" of jazz. Ray also worked with his own quartet in renowned jazz clubs such as Birdland, the Embers, Basin Street East, etc. In the early '70's he joined with Mousey Alexander to form "Alexanders the Great", a quartet which was booked frequently at the new Half Note uptown, as well as many other clubs and concerts.Until his passing, he played in various jazz clubs in New York and the East coast, as well as college concerts and jazz festivals. In the summer he toured England and nearby European countries playing vibraphone in jazz venues and festivals. His first self-released album, "Cloud Patterns" was recorded live at Eddie Condon's in 1983 and was released ...
| | Nick Baker Think Positive CD (2002)
Short Stories music CDs
$13.69 Nick has been into music almost from the moment he was born. Nick has perfect pitch, almost instant recall (he literally can hear a new piece of music one time and play it perfectly). He has an infinite catalog of songs in his head. Very few times can he be stumped when someone names a tune- he almost always knows it and can even tell you who first recorded it, when it was on the Top Ten, etc. He started writing original music about three years ago and produced his new solo CD, Think Positive, Songs With A Message. His music can be enjoyed on many levels and everyone finds meaning in his words. He wrote the piece Bad Behavior Blues as an apology for the bus incident he sings about. Think Positive was written for his father, Mark Baker. His dad was one of his strongest supporters. Before he died in Feb. of 2001 he got to hear those two songs recorded. Nick seemed to kick into high gear after his dad passed. He has used the song writing as a way of dealing with his grief and loss. Nick's next effort is a song tribute to events on 9/11/02 called Here's to Our Heroes. Nick was inspired to write ...
