It's not about learning the music. It's about finding yourself in the music. Finding a resonance where your voice and the voices of those around you speak in their natural harmony.This is the approach we've taken with the creation in this music. The players were coached in feelings. Words. Dreams.The themes were stated simply, as you express a topic for conversation. Or a meal to be shared and enjoyed.The sessions took place in landfills, studios out in the country, studios in California, studios in NYC and garages in the suburbs. The musicians would stand in a circle under the sun, in the corners of rooms or in separate rooms only connected by sound. The situations were all chosen to help the music surprise us. And it did.The genre spectrum on this disc is rather wide, but to us feels like one road trip over time and space. We hope you enjoy the journey as much as we did. Auery (Beverly) AllenArtist/ComposerGospel Album “I Know the Lord”Beverly started singing at a very early age. Her Dad, Mr. Arthur Carroll and the entire Carroll family loves to sing. Her Mom, Mrs. Grace Spears, deceased, and all of her family were singers and musicians. At the age of 5, she and her 4-year-old brother, Mr. Ronny Carroll, were singing duets at church, “I Come to the Garden,” was one of their favorites. She has sung in the church all of her life and was in the chorus from grade school into college. She also sung in small rhythm and blues groups in school and gospel singing groups in the church. She loves to sing! She loves praising and worshiping God in song!When Beverly gave her life to Christ in 1971, God began giving her songs. She began writing songs in 1973 and wrote three of the songs on her album. God blessed her to write these songs at a time in her life when she was in an abusive marital relationship. Sometimes she didn't know if she could make it from one day to the next, but God assured her that she could by giving her to write “I'm Going to Hold Out”. When times got really rough, she would hear a song in the midnight hour. These songs gave her strength and courage to go to her job and continue to strive to make a comfortable life for herself and her three children. Her pastor, Rev. Henry Page of the St. Paul Church of God in Christ, San Diego, CA, would ask her to sing this song every Sunday morning to encourage him and at the same time it would inspire her. Beverly has encouraged hundreds with her anointed singing. Jesus and the Holy Ghost have healed many through her gifted singing and through the songs that she has written. All of Beverly's children have a beautiful talent for singing and started singing with her when they were children. For years, many of her friends encouraged her to make a recording. God finally blessed her to make a CD. She has fulfilled a long awaited dream. The anointed and blessed musician, Pastor Aaron Jamal of Chicago, IL, Spirit Led Media Productions, is accompanying Beverly on this blessed album.
