OVERLAND was founded in 1997 by Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter Mike Carlisle to record, perform and expand the sound and feel of the music he was writing.Mike was joined by Keyboardist Scott Combs who immediately added depth to the music with his individual style and input on arrangements. After a few variations on Drums Mike was able to convince his good friend Rick Fernandez (a pro Blues and Rock drummer) to join the band as their permanent drummer.A few more variations saw bass player Jim Sprague join the band.Around the end of 2000 Both Scott and Jim left the band to pursue other interests.Jim was temporarily replaced by Mike Barry on bass for several dates. In the Mid-Summer of 2001 Doug Elliott, another long time friend of Mike's joined the band on bass. The band spent the better part of 1999 recording and producing their debut album "Songs From The Road" which has meet with glowing reviews from fans, promoters and other industry people.Since completing the recording OVERLAND has been performing just about anywhere there is electricity and satisfying many large audiences.OVERLAND is currently rehearsing material for their second studio album with a planed release for Spring of 2003. "Overland doesn't pay attention to the latest trends -- musical or other wise. How else to explain a rock band more concerned with its song craft...Overland's songs share more in common with the melodic sounds of such bands as The Eagles, Jackson Browne and Crosby, Stills & Nash..." -- Orange County Register, Nov 5, 1999 Show Section, Pop Music, hear, by Robert Kinsler Songs From The Road Music | List Price | $12.50 (You save $1.41) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Rock CDs | | Label | Carlisle Productions | | Orig Year | 2002 | | CD Universe Part number | 7141488 | | Catalog number | 21537 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Mar 26, 2002 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Recording Time | 59 minutes |

Songs From The Road music CDs
$12.69 ANSEL MATTHEWSAnsel Matthews is a singer and acoustic guitarist with a warm, soulful voice and an impressive three-octave range. He feels passionately about society which is reflected in his songwriting. Lyrically his songs explore deep feelings whether its finding answers within, urging people to get motivated, or hoping to bring people together by offering a musical prayer to the world. He received his first guitar (a nylon stringed one) at age 9. He would later try his hand at the steel and electric guitar but eventually gravitated back to the classical guitar. "The classical guitar", explains Matthews, "with its warm round sound connects with the romantic in me. I really love the elasticity of the strings which allow for a subtlety that is similar to the human voice." Musically he draws from wide-ranging influences - soul singers such as Sam Cooke, crooners like Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole, the early Motown sounds especially Stevie Wonder, the Seventies pop-folk of Jim Croce and James Taylor and from years of experience singing in classical and gospel choral groups.Matthews, now a veteran of the New York Music Scene, came to New York after attending college on a football scholarship. He honed his skills performing in local clubs such as the Bitter End, and CBGB's Gallery while opening for notables: Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin,Dave van Ronk, and Burlap to Cashmere. In addition Ansel has performed at such renowned venues as Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall. He toured South America, the South Pacific and Europe in the Gloria Gaynor band until the national release of his CD, Workings of the Heart on Palmetto Records. His music can also be heard on the prestigious Smithsonian Institute Folkway Recordings, Columbia's ...
| | Mob4 CD (2003)
Songs From The Road songs
$9.35 Mob4 is an original modern rock band based in southwestern Connecticut. The bands founders are Pasquale (lead vocals) and Vince Bossio (lead guitar/background vocals). They were both raised in Bridgeport, CT and each began his musical careeer at an early age. Both had formed bands even before high school. Writing and performing original music quickly became a passion that they just could not resist. As they got a little older, they made frequent trips to nearby Greenwich Village in NYC - at first they just took in the fantastic original music scene. After forming Mob4 they began to perform there themselves. Mob4 combines elements of funk and soul with straight-forward rock and roll to produce a sound that appeals to a wide range of listeners. With a musical style similar to 3 Doors Down, Matchbox Twenty or Lenny Kravitz, the band emphasizes "feel" and "groove" instead of speed and volume. Mob4 has been favorably compared to several established artists both past and present. The mass appeal of the Mob4 sound stems from a commitment to fresh melodies, lyrics and rhythms combined with the undeniable pulse of their hard rock upbringing. Pasquale's thoughtful lyrics and unique vocal style have been cultivated through years of writing, recording and performing original music. Always the showman on-stage, he is not afraid to speak his mind... or bare his soul. Vince Bossio studied classical, blues and jazz guitar for many years. He is completely at home playing clean, crunchy, acoustic, electric or just plain down & dirty. Bassist Juan Olivetto and drummer Gene Santini provide a tight rhythm section ...

Songs From The Road CD music
$13.35 All Hat is the soundtrack to the 2007 Leonard Fahrlinger film of the same name. Based on the brilliant novel by Brad Smith (who also wrote the screenplay), Fahrlinger's film is set in Ontario and involves an ex-baseball playing ex-con, a transplanted Texas cowboy who farms and raises losing race horses, a gambling addict and tycoon who wants to take over the town's farms to build a casino and hotel. Inserted into this is Frisell's score, built on his rootsy Americana side of fully fleshed out on his classic Nashville ...
