| | Octothorpe Information Overload CD Octothorpe Discography of CDs
This CD represents 20 consecutive weeks of entries by Octothorpe into the songwriting competition at songfight , plus two covers of other songfight artists' entries. Accompanying the CD is a 28-page booklet containing not only the lyrics, credits, and graphics for each song, but the colorful running commentary from the songfight boards that these entries generated. Ranging from such comments as "I hope you guys eat a cheese wheel and choke on it" for one the first Octothorpe recordings to the highlights excerpted below, the booklet is as entertaining as the music. Lyrics by Stubs (Aaron Ondek)Music by Spud (Ray C. Freeman III)Vocals by Bro (John X. Ambrosavage)mc3p0: Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in. But then I'm startled awake, realizing I had fallen asleep to Information Overload on repeat. KHAN!! khan! kha.. k..NationwideClyde:Is there a video of this? At last you break out the accordion! At least you had fun! (I know you guys have some serious analogue equipment. Maybe next time?) Sounds like you had girls over. I wish I had girls come over. I wish I had friends. Octothorpe has friends. Lovely, lovely friends. If you tape-recorded this on micro cassette, hats off to you! Sounds like Guy Smiley on acid. Marcelo (Skyline):Everything you make makes me smile like a geeky li'l kid. I wish I could be this original with my own work. You truly have a gift to visualize and think outside the box. I really like it. Too Fat (That's The Spirit):You make me laugh. I like to laugh. I was, in fact saying, "It's 'Spirit', dude" when the pause in the middle kicked in. I almost squirted my kool-aid through my nose. Mekkab (Highway):I often enjoy octothorpe on the radio! Good shift in vocal delivery at 1:00 (right by the route 99 sign sliding to a stop...) This is a great lesson on WHY you should not commit any acts of thermoplastic pollution! Nice- highway is a scarf on the hilltop! Even the rats aren't fed! 2:58- NICE organ solo! Either my brain has been re-programmed to accept all orders from Octothorpe, or I've found Octo's groove and dig it, or this is just a really good song. Wannabe (Tiny Room):I must say that #'s stuff is growing on me. especially this week's song. the irony of Mr. Squirrel being quarantined while all of his friends are out playing and bouncing around the hill reminds me of a children's book gone awry, which makes me believe more and more in a friend who said that #'s stuff sounded like mock children's music for intelligent people. Information Overload music CDs
$20.25 Article taken from "Santa Cruz Arts Journal," Fall 2000: These CDs contain music composed by Ron Wagner who is co-director with local dancer/writer Emily Mayne, of the performance company "Rhythmic Visions." Ron Wagner has recorded and toured internationally with Ottmar Liebert as well as with a number of major artists, and records on TV and Film soundtracks, including Star Trek and many more. He composes many different types of world fusion music. The two CDs contain the music that Ron created for the instructional videos BELLYDANCE FITNESS FOR BEGINNERS, a four volume set taught by Veena and Neena Bidasha. Although one of the CDs is called Fast Rhythms and the other Slow Rhythms, each contains a mix of different speeds, with a predominance of fast on one and slow on the other. Together they are a rich library of different moods, from slow and sultry to fast and uplifting, with a few really hot drum solos to top it off. It would be hard to pick just one, but the Fast Rhythms CD has everything for a dance workout or to re-mix for a dance party. Slow Rhythms contains beautiful slow pieces that would be excellent background music for yoga or other slow movement. Bellydance teachers will find plenty ...

$13.69 [ L.; Gr. Echoset, a sound, a noise]: an intense creative fusion of modern rock and alternative music, deeply laced with insightful lyrics and finely crafted musical compositions. A melding which showcases the unique talents of each member of the Austin-based band. During the taping of Comedy Central's "Insomniac", host Dave Attell had this to say about his 'echoset experience': "Austin really is the music capital of the USA. The town is crawling with musicians and dreams. Here I am hanging out with some future stars of tomorrow, [echoset]... you guy's, by the way, rock! That was amazing!" The episode, which aired in July of 2003, represented Austin's famous music scene, featuring echoset as its live band. Echoset's roots began in a friend's garage in January of 2000, when native East Coasters, Beth Puorro (vocals, guitar) and Rae Goldring (bass), began to jam with one another. A few months later they teamed up with native Texans, Travis Cohee (guitar, backing vocals) and Michael Hayden (drums), to collaborate on the project now known as echoset. Like a soulful gypsy, Puorro has mastered the art of vocally seducing crowds until they get lost in the moment; a moment into which Cohee breathes life with his innovative and blistering guitar riffs. With Goldring's ability to lay down palpable and hypnotic bass licks, and Hayden's focus solely on 'tending to the groove', the 'echoset experience' thrusts listeners into a wondrous world of pulsating emotion and climatic energy. Voted one of Austin's top rock bands by the Chronicle in 2002 & 2003, echoset has accomplished much in their three short years together. They have shared the stage with some of the most talented national and regional acts, including Michelle Shocked, Dada, The Burden Brothers, Patrice Pike and the Blackbox Rebellion (formerly Sister 7), Bob Schneider, and numerous others, (see complete list on Fact sheet). A band that is both socially and politically conscious, echoset was asked to join other top acts on Jim Hightower's "Rolling Thunder Downhome Democracy Tour", and echoset regularly appears at charity events throughout the region. ...
