| | Billy Proulx Homespun CD Billy Proulx Discography of CDs
Thanks for making this Backstops most successful LP to date. Homespun showcases Billy's formidable songwriting abilities. These songs will definitely reach you deep inside. Some listeners have said that his treatment of Corina, Corina even cuts Doc Watson. Billy covers his ears when he hears such things and is quick to give credit to Mississippi John Hurt's influence on the arrangement. Billy has been entertaining audiences of all ages for over 30 years. He has played places as famous as the Troubadour and the Whiskey and as infamous as the Mentone Beach Yacht Club. Billy Proulx & The Crew resently opened for Johnny Winter at B B King's at the City Walk in Universal City. Although equally at home on acoustic or electric guitar as well as the Dobro, the real magic is in Billy's original material. This CD captures his bluesy and folksy roots."Its unpretentious..... It's honest..... Billy is an artist in its purest form.--Erle Saunders Homespun Music | List Price | $10.00 (You save $0.65) | | Category | Folk Albums, Blues CDs | | Label | Backstop | | Orig Year | 2000 | | CD Universe Part number | 7143280 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Jan 05, 2004 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Recording Time | 32 minutes |

| | David Bennett Cohen In The Pocket CD (2001)
Homespun songs
$18.99 "Mr. Cohen isn't the average hippie gone Wall Street, he's also a certifiably smokin' barrel house rumba boogie-woogie piano player in the James Booker/Professor Longhair/Dr. John vein." David Bennett Cohen has been a professional musician for more than 30 years. Best known for his innovative keyboard playing as an original member of the '60's rock band, Country Joe and the Fish, he is an equally accomplished guitar player who has been involved in numerous music scenes throughout his varied career.David began his musical education at the age of seven, studying classical piano for seven years. While studying the piano, he began to teach himself the guitar, beginning at the age of nine. When he was 14, he heard boogie-woogie piano for the first time and was hooked. Since then, he has explored many different styles of Blues and popular music. He was fortunate enough to have heard Otis Spann, Professor Longhair, Meade Lux Lewis and other masters of the genre perform live. "What separates Cohen from a lot of other players is his unassuming ease behind the keys, and the ability to take that admiration past rote emulation, invoking the spirits of boogie-woogie, stride and blues piano greats without ever forcing things or just replicating other folks' licks."Over the years, he has played and/or recorded with The Blues Project, Mick Taylor, The Luther Tucker Blues Band, Elvin Bishop, Hubert Sumlin, Melvin Van Peebles, Happy and Artie Traum, Arlen Roth, Eric Anderson, David Blue, Tim Hardin, Norton Buffalo, Jerry Miller, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Buddy Miles, John Cippolina, Huey Lewis, Michael Bloomfield, Bob Weir, John Kahn, Johnny Johnson, Jimmy Vivino, Jay Owens, Debbie Davies, Byther Smith, Bobby Kyle, Rocky Lawrence and others. As a solo performer, he has shared the bill with Country Joe McDonald, Kenny Rankin, Bonnie Raitt, Richard Thompson, Jerry Garcia, Leo Kottke, Rufus Thomas, Meatloaf, Booker T. , The Roches, Kingfish, ...

| | Dean Irons Second Chance CD (2003)
Homespun music CDs
$17.75 Dean Irons has played the Southern Maine and Seacoast New Hampshire area for over 20 years, first as a drummer in a hard rock '70s band (McBeth) and leading up to his current place as lead guitarist and vocalist in The Dean Irons Band. While his extensive performance experience with various bar bands has deepened his instrumental work and developed his ability to hook an audience into a good time, his life experience has led to heartfelt, layered original songs that any baby boomer who's ever been excited about a long-term romance, made love in a car, or needed a party at the end of the day, can relate to. Dean started as a drummer at the age of 10. Although he never knew his Dad, the elder Irons' musical talent as an instrumentalist has been passed on to Dean. In addition to playing drums, he has become an accomplished guitar and harmonica player, and plays bass and keyboards. When in high school near Exeter, NH, he joined a band to share music with friends and get the girls. (On occasion he stills has the fun of getting together with Kevin Eckert-Smith and Kenny Miles of the Firewater Band.) In the '80s while Dean played rock covers with successive groups, he was also influenced by bluegrass and country jam sessions with his older brother, Henry, who plays banjo and guitar. On Second Chance Dean takes a cue from his successful live shows and transforms his listeners into participants by sharing music that you "feel in your heart and your soles." This is music that will get you moving. "I wanted the song selection on my first CD to reflect my passion for stick-with-you rhythms, clean harmony, and lyrics that people can relate to," says Irons. Dean's guitar work has melded the influences of Steve Miller, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The straight-ahead rock n' roll is often layered with hints of the blues. Add to that his lyrical style that is often emotional, as in "I know I'm Gonna Make It," a song written to his deceased father, and in the angry, "I'm Gettin' Out of Here."Dean wrote this collection of original songs over the past 15 years; recording them between 2000 and 2002. All instruments (guitar, bass, harmonica, drums and keyboards) and vocals are performed by Dean, with fine performances by good friends and family including Jeff Landrock on keyboards (all except I know I'm Gonna Make It and Buckets of Tears), Deb Erickson-Irons on harmony vocals (Keep on Trying, Hold Me Tight, Buckets of Tears, and Never Pretend) and Ted Sink on harmony vocals (Don't I Wish) and bass (Never Pretend and ...
