Multi-faceted, a consummate entertainer and a true song stylist, Stella. has touched audiences worldwide not only through her music, but her stage, television, and film presence as well.Stella. began her entertainment career auspiciously at an early age singing gospel music with her family -- in church and on television and radio. Her first two albums, which included several original compositions, reflected that early influence and delivered that same sincerity and honesty which is felt in her music today.Relocating to Nashville, Stella. wrote and recorded her first hit single, "I Want To Hold You In My Dreams Tonight," which launched her career in country music. She since has recorded 24 chart singles, 16 albums and garnered numerous awards and nominations, including multiple ASCAP Awards and ACM and Music City News Award nominations. Her CD, Appalachian Blues, an intensely personal musical journey which reflects her Smoky Mountain roots,is "the most philosophical project I've ever done," says Stella. "It's been both a catharsis and a celebration for me."Not one to feel fenced in by creative boundaries, Stella. took on the rigors of the theatre, starring in four New York touring productions, including Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas, Pump Boys and Dinettes, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Stella. has been featured in such films as "Cloud Dancer," "The Loner" and "Country Gold." Her work in television has included "The Dukes of Hazzard" and the CBS-TV movie, "The Color of Love," co-starring Lou Gossett, Jr. and Gina Rowlands.Stella.'s love for cooking resulted in her authoring two recipe-packed cookbooks, Really Cookin' (Vol. 1) and Country Cookin'. A third collection, Stella.'s Really Cookin', is slated for release this year. She also has appeared on The Home Shopping Network with her Taste of Life all natural food products. But entertainment is not the only area where Stella. shines. She devotes much of her time to causes like domestic violence and, typical of her hands-on approach, teaches at The New Opportunity School for Women at Berea College in Berea, KY, utilizing her knowledge of hair and makeup to help women build self-esteem. She also has a thriving consulting business, Attic Entertainment Artist Development and Entertainment Consulting business, teaching stage presence, hair, makeup, wardrobe techniques and video coaching.Stella.'s desire and ability to relate to people from all walks of life, coupled with her diverse talents, are qualities that have made her one of America's richest musical treasures. | | Johnny Cash American IV: The Man Comes Around CD (2002) Bonus DVD
Appalachian Blues songs
$11.49 "Give My Love To Rose" won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
Includes a bonus DVD featuring a music video for the song "Hurt".
When the first volume of Johnny Cash's AMERICAN series appeared in 1994, it would have been difficult to predict its critical and commercial success, much less the fact that an illness-beset Cash would be turning out a powerful fourth installment of the series eight years later. Like its three predecessors, AMERICAN IV is a home-recorded, bare-bones Rick Rubin production wherein Cash tackles old classics by other writers as well as more contemporary tunes by artists from the rock world, with a smattering of his own new compositions thrown in. It's also arguably the strongest since the first volume.
Now that the novelty of hearing the Man in ...
| | John Denver Definitive All-Time Greatest Hits CDs (2004) Bonus CD
Appalachian Blues album
$9.59 The title of this collection by the Jesus of 1970s soft pop makes no bones about its intentions. Fortunately, it delivers what it promises in spades. Early-'80s duets with Placido Domingo ("Perhaps Love") and Emmylou Harris ("Wild Montana Skies") underscore both ...

| | Anke Summerhill Roots Run Deep CD (1999)
Appalachian Blues music CDs
$18.25 Produced by Kate MacLeod, singer/songwriter and guitarist Summerhill's debut album, a breezy set of lyrical pop. Matt Flinner and David LaMotte make guest appearances. ~ Jenna Woolford
Of her debut CD release, "The Roots Run Deep", Independent Songwriter Web-Magazine writes:"The emotional bond is established with the audience from the very first note. It's personal, yet universal. You may cry, you may find yourself becoming philosophical, but you will feel something totally unique from any other album you've ever heard." Anke's diverse background and powerful gift of observation has seasoned her songwriting and performances with that, which makes us compassionate.Originally from Munich, her international musical journey began with school in England at age 9, where some of her earliest musical influences came from the radio and recordings played by her ( very cool ) school housemother. "I grew to love the music of James Taylor even before I learned English," Summerhill said. "His melodies and delivery are so accessible. Of course, the Beatles were a big force, because that irresistible groove they had was in itself a common language."When the family moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Summerhill finished high school in a visual & performing arts program, where she began to study drawing and guitar. Although initially too shy to sing in class, it was the study of various vocal styles and the love of singing that eventually coaxed her to pick up the guitar, so she could accompany herself. Travels throughout the U.S. led Anke to settle in Salt Lake City in 1985, ( by way of Colorado, Oregon, Florida and Texas ). She soon signed on as a vocalist in the eight-piece ensemble Chenaniah and toured throughout the West. Songwriting was a natural extension of her passion for singing, and her own songs first found expression ...
