Alowishious FarhattAlowishious Farhatt was assembled late in the year of 2001 when local high school musicians Rick Patoray, Kenny Thomas and Zach Bossart decided they needed to revive the soul of rock and roll. Paying homage to their musical inspirations, the trio started off by adapting classic rock, blues, and country tunes. The first song they learned as a band, Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire," was quickly transformed into an up-tempo, rockabilly thrill ride. At that point the band knew what direction they wanted to head with their music.The band started playing in local clubs and bars in the Northern VA area, their setlist including an extremely wide variety of music genres such as Classic Rock, Rockabilly, Blues, Country, 50's Doo Wop, and old timey Rock and Roll. They bestowed upon themselves the title "Alowishious Farhatt." "Alowishious" was a name inspired by a line in a Primus song as well as a name mentioned in the film "O Brother Where Art Thou," while "Farhatt" was a name that Patoray saw on a job application at a local restaurant he worked at. History/ BiographyTerry began his solo music career while fronting his band- The Urchin. Playing solo/ acoustic allowed Matsuoka to concentrate on his songwriting and play songs that were a little more laid back than the ones he was playing with his alternative rock band. He began by playing consistently at the Innerchange Coffeehouse in San Diego as his primary venue (at the same time as singer-songwriter Jewel- who eventually recorded her first album there live).The Urchin eventually broke up and then resurfaced with a different line-up as an even harder edged- Blue Elder. After representing Southern California in the Musician Magazine/ Ticketmaster Showcase, Blue Elder disbanded. Matsuoka's solo acoustic gig represented a more consistent artistic outlet than the band dynamic. Even still, Matsuoka has much experience being a band member.
