When I set out to make this album, I was caught between newly discovering some great Brit-Pop bands, and re-discovering some of the lush art-rock of the 70's. The echoes in my head were equal parts ELO, Queen, and Pink Floyd; along with Oasis, The Devlins, World Party, and Travis. I wanted to try to capture nuances of both, as if those bands of the 70's were still vital on the new music scene today. With constant inspiration from producers like Jeff Lynne, Roy Thomas Baker, and Bob Ezrin, I set out to create something as large, and dynamic as an ELO record, with the intimacy and personal experience of a Coldplay album. And for a little extra fun, how about a cover of K.C. and The Sunshine Band's "Boogie Shoes" done in the style of ELO's "Don't Bring Me Down".Please enjoy...More to come... Hello, Mr. Radio album
$11.18 With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Mercifully, he came in second to Kris Allen, for if he came in first he may have had to tame his self-styled glamazon ways. A second place finish allowed Lambert to come ...

| | crown aruba Alotisalot CD (2005)
Hello, Mr. Radio CD music
$16.45 alotisalot is crown aruba's debut full length and showcases the band's unique brand of bubblegum meets captain beefheart pop.Review from threeimaginarygirls.com:Crown Aruba - "alotisalot" {7.4}by chilly c From early-Wire angular to Beat Happening twee, local Seattle four-piece Crown Aruba cleverly scoop the cream from several styles to deliver an infectious debut that is pure indie pop. The vocal throwbacks to Sebadoh, the Guided By Voices guitar crunch, and the crisp, papery drums all evoke the lo-fi alt-rock of the mid-90's, but the band displays just enough new-new wave smarts (check the very aughties deadpan "Sexy Robot") to ensure that the CD isn't a retread.alotisalot proves that Crown Aruba are already experts in writing short, super-catchy songs. One listen will lodge songs like "alotisalot" and "Holding Hands" in your head - and you'll want to keep them there. And the fact that most of these songs are so short (less than ...

Hello, Mr. Radio music CDs
$18.99 Jim Lugo began his musical career in Bethel Alaska . "We rented a hall for someting like $500 bucks, and since most of the town would come to the show we figured we'd make a bunch of money. However, the two local guys we hired to watch the door were related to most everyone in town so by the time the dust settled it ended up costing us about ...

| | Your Pal This Is My Pop CD (2004)
Hello, Mr. Radio album
$10.29 Your Pal References"Your Pal's Pete Wright is like a brain we keep in a padded cell to write us perfect pop songs. We feed him our favorite records and he lays us perfect poppy eggs. Occasionally he gets uppity, as all our favorite padded-cell-chicken-artists do, but that just makes us crane our necks and fight for space in his minds window to view our pretentions, razed and rebuilt as a simpler world of guitars, drum machines, and good songs" Brendan Canty-Fugazi(Dischord Records)"I think Your Pal is excellent. Melodies that stick in your head like they should and make you feel sad, sweet, dark and touched at the same time"Jeanette -the Chubbies(Sympathy for the Record Industry)"Your Pal rocks my world!"Cliff Hillis-IKE and solo (Not Lame Records)"Your Pal looks back to late power popsters like Joe Jackson and the Cars while throwing it's lot with the Weezers of the world. It's an enjoyable sketch of where (Pete's) head is at."Jim Santo-Demouniverse.com"Your Pal blends the best of the Bens (Folds, Gibbard and Kweller) into a lo-fi smoothie with crunchy guitars and silly, yet thought-provoking lyrics. I defy anyone to remain stone-faced and still in the presence of this music."Gretchen Corl-Snap Pop Magazine"Sound like a Cake/Beatles/Partridge Family rip-off", "Sounds like something I heard on Sesame Street when I was five", "A little too 'Happy Days' to resonate with me", "A bit too precious"Comments from Garageband.com that were meant as (but not taken as) insultsPete Wright is Your Pal. It's both the name of his musical project and what he's becoming to more and more people as he preaches the Popagenda. the PopAgenda is a personal philosophy that was originally developed as a way to make music, but it can be modified to any part of life where mediocrity and diminished expectations have become unwelcome companions. Its tenets are (in no order):1. To take the term "pop" back from those who have made it a negative term and make it a badge of honor to encourage creating Pop Culture worth wasting nostalgia on .2. To honor every audience regardless of their size or interest. They could always be doing something better than watching your lame ass.3. To eliminate the counterproductive idea of "guilty pleasures" , because everyone is capable of teaching with their art, yes, even Brittany.4. To promote inclusion, recognizing that there is strength in numbers, not irony.5. To recognize the ...
