Maine native, singer-songwriter Don Campbell released a collection of 14 Christmas classics and 4 original holiday songs that has become a seasonal favorite with new and old fans alike. Campbell produced and arranged the album featuring signature fiddle and guitar sounds of the Don Campbell Band and added piano and cello instrumentation on the project, recorded in Portland, Maine over the summer and early fall of 2002. The making of 'A Don Campbell Christmas' was motivated by fans and by a tradition. For over 10 years, Campbell has played music at the local Cerebral Palsy Center's annual Christmas party. 'When my friend, Sue Brewer, a teacher at the CP Center, first approached me in 1990 about playing some Christmas music for this gathering, I had no idea what was in store or that this experience would become one of the biggest gifts I've ever been given. It's a joy to be a part of their annual celebration, and after so many years, it seemed like it was about time to record a Christmas music project!' said Campbell. Additionally, fans of Campbell's and the Don Campbell Band had been suggesting the same. In the fall of 2001, the Band surveyed fans to learn what their favorite Christmas classics were and what they'd like to hear on the CD. They received several hundred votes for a total of nearly 100 different Christmas song suggestions. The two biggest vote getters, I'll Be Home for Christmas, and the Irving Berlin classic, White Christmas are just two of the 14 classics on the CD. Track #5, Don's original song, Giving Man, was named "Holiday Song of the Year" in the Just Plain Folks Music Awards. Don Campbell has been named Maine's Best Singer-Songwriter in the 2004-2009 Maine Sunday Telegram Annual Readers' Polls and is looking forward to releasing a NEW Christmas CD in 2010!!Hope this collection adds joy to your special times! THE BARBARA CECIL BIOGRAPHYBarbara Cecil was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and moved out west to the rural countryside of Oregon when she was three years old. Being the last child of four children, she found herself growing up somewhat alone. Barbara found out at an early age she could entertain herself by singing. In fact she developed a strong powerful voice, by singing at the top of her lungs and as loud as she wanted. She knew that no one could hear her, way out in the woods.After high school, Barbara sang through the local pageant circuit, and sang for a local country band. IN 1994 Barbara started singing as a solo performer at state and county fairs throughout the Pacific Northwest performing her favorite kind of music, country. Anything from Patsy Cline to Shania Twain. Wanting to be taken more seriously Barbara started working with several local country bands, and writing her own music. In 1998 she opened for national recording artist Chris Ledoux and self released her first CD titled, "Big Trouble Now". In 1999 Barbara Started "The Barbara Cecil Band" and performed for one season. In November of 2000, Barbara joined a nine piece 50s and 60s rock n roll show band called "Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts", as their only female singer, singing leads and backup harmonies. Trovato can play them all, and play them all he does on this showcase of his stylistic versatility. He revs things up by starting with "D.G.'s Boogie," his nod to Danny Gatton that is dead-on in its resemblance. Masta Edwards donates a very cool, understated vocal delivery on "Knock, Knock, Knock," an original that treads the fine line where blues and jazz meet. "Dark Eyes" is a traditional gypsy jazz tune played on an acoustic guitar that also features the sweet 'n swinging violin of Gabe Witcher, a hot young multi-instrumentalist who has worked with Randy Newman, Lyle Lovett, Emmylou Harris, Beck, and more. Trovato busts out his twangy country chops on "Squawkin'," a real barnburner that'd make Jimmy Bryant proud.
