Let the music speak for itself!Check out all the sound clips on the left. Now, about the Artist: Larry LaVey. Raised in Virginia,Larry LaVey has played in Clubs in and around the Washington, D.C. area for most of his life. He plays numerous instruments, but specializes in guitar and vocals. Larry has played all kinds of music but his loves are Rockabilly, Blues, Rhythm and Blues and of course, Southern Rock. He has an original song in a prime time television movie. Larry LaVey's goal has always been to please the general public, rather than other musicians. His main musical influences are: Chuck Berry,B. B. King, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton. Radio plays of songs on this CD Album: "Rockin' 'Till The Break Of Dawn!" have been on Rado Stations in New York, Massachusetts, California, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, Connecticut, Alabama and Virgina--and the list goes on. France and Japan are playing the songs from Larry's CD album while his next Cd Album--an All-New, All-Original, All-BLUES CD album keeps the music going strong!. In short, this guy plays a really mean guitar and his vocals always relate to the working man. Maybe that's why this CD is making new friends and really "catching on!"

Recorded at Masterworks Studios, Woodridge, Virginia.

Personnel: Larry LaVey (vocals, guitar, harmonica); Pete Lawrence (keyboards); Sunny Byrd (bass); Leon Rayes (drums); Sharon Gansberg (background vocals).

THE PICTORIAL, Sunday September 26, 2004THE ARTS Rocky Jr. comes home YO, ADRIAN! Duncan ex-patriate brings his blues/pop sound to the Cowichan Theatre PETER RUSLAND - staff reporter Guitar slinger Rocky Jr. seems well suited to ZZ Tops lyric that every girl's crazy about a sharp-dressed man. "I try to keep it as stylish as I can," thepop-bluesman says from his place in Vancouver. Duncan-born Rocky Milino Jr. and his band are set for next Saturday's Cowichan Theatre debut when they'll play cuts from his 1998 disc Things I Can't Have, and his new CD Just Think About It slated for October release. Saturday's repertoire will be backed by bassist Bruce Morrison, drummer Chris Meister, and keyboardist Mike Norman. "We like to rock, we're a singalong band," Milino say's, noting, "I dont do any covers," But he could, praising influences from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Deep Purple and Prince. Like many players, Milino's an avid guitar collector. "My main axe is a Fender Stratocaster. They feel good and look really good," he says reckon-ing he has 23 instruments ...

If Tom Waits ever decided to make an album of traditional English folk, it might sound a little like Bellowhead, the folk big band. The aptly titled disc has a real circus quality to the sound, especially on the opener, "Rigs of the Time" and the more abstract "Flash Company," which make full use of the mix of brass and strings. But this very ambitious full-length debut takes in a great deal, from the ballad "Death and the Lady" to the more gospel-ish "Jordan" (actually a shanty tweaked a little) and some instrumentals, like "Sloe Gin" that have been expanded from their original form to sound very full (as well they might with an 11-piece group). "Courting Too Slow" is revisited from an early Spiers & Boden album, with Jon Boden showing just how his singing has improved, a mix of deep emotion and fairground barker. It's a record that's to be praised for the chances it takes -- they could have played it fairly safe and been praised as groundbreaking -- even though they don't all succeed. But even the failures, like the clumsy "Flash Company" are never less than interesting. Kudos to the producers, who bring clarity to a dense sound. This is a summation of the formation of this sound; where they take it will be the fascinating part. ~ Chris Nickson "... the most significant recording of traditional English music since Liege & Leaf" - (Songlines Magazine) "They don't do anything by halves, this lot. Incredibly, given their awards, headlining festival appearances, cover features and reputation as the best live roots band in the land, this is the first proper Bellowhead album. The 5-track E.P.Onymous ...
