| | Andrew Marley Sunday Afternoon CD Andrew Marley Discography of CDs
Selah Music, Inc. is proud to introduce Andrew Marley and his first solo project - "Sunday Afternoon." Not only did Mr. Marley lay down the vocal tracks for this album, he also played all of the instruments that are a part of the CD as well. His Christ centered melodies are just what the doctor ordered. Also his smooth jazz instrumentals are definitely something that you don't want to miss.Andrew's music is defined as ... one of the best spiritually sound, culturally relevant, biblically based, easy listening, smoothed-out, combination of Gospel, Jazz, R&B, and Soul, with a dash of "rhythmic tasties" and a sprinkling of old school flow. Not only is "Sunday Afternoon" currently available on CDBaby. Sunday Afternoon
$11.39 The expanded version of GREATEST HITS includes 5 bonus tracks and is newly remastered.
Sam Cooke's death in 1964 left a huge void in the world of soul music not filled until Al Green's breakthrough in the early '70s. Although many great male soul singers came and went in the years following Cooke's death, none came close to the smooth and creamy style that translated to consistent cross-over success. While Otis Redding was gritty and James Brown relentless, in Green's hands, R&B was sophisticated and suave. GREATEST HITS basks in a style of sultry soul that Green inherited from Cooke.
Yet, Green's style owed as much to producer Willie Mitchell's delicate production as it did to the singer's pure falsetto. While not inclined to use the vast numbers of musicians that Phil Spector did, Mitchell's use of James Mitchell (no relation) and ...

Sunday Afternoon
$11.39 In her early teens, Mel played acoustic guitar, learning 60's and 70's classics and wrote tons of poetry to pass the time. It wasn't until her late teens that Mel started out playing bass with several musicians in San Francisco. Ready for action, Mel joined newly formed, all-girl trio, Stellar, with Jill Haley from The Zodiac Killers on guitar and Christa Dibiase from Girl Band on drums. Stellar was a San Francisco based band, playing Stoner Rock to bike messenger happy hours and tiny clubs in the Mission District such as The Tip Top Inn, The Covered Wagon (now The Cherry Bar), The Chatter Box AKA The Chameleon, Haight Street's Boomerang, etc. After a couple of years, Mel was itching to kick things up a notch and started high-energy bubblegum-punk Hotbox. Hotbox enjoyed modest success and released its debut, Lickity Split in 2001; followed by several tours across the states including a stint on the Van's Warped Tour. In 2002, Hotbox went on hiatus while bassist Matthew Mackenzie played in NorCal's Tsunami Bomb and Bob Simmons played in Oakland's Fracas. Mel was eager to get back to her roots playing bass, so she formed the angst-powered, all-girl group, Secret Squirrel Society. The band played High Octane, southern style RnR featuring Mel on bass and lead vox, Cat Barber on drums, Nicole Sherwood on lead guitar, and Mariah Dancing on rhythm guitar. Mel decided it was time to ...
