| | Geoff Pearlman Anything At All CD Geoff Pearlman Discography of CDs
Originally from Omaha, NE, songwriter, singer, guitarist, producer and engineer Geoff Pearlman began his musical journey by starting guitar lessons at age 9. After years of lessons and practice, Geoff attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating in 1991. Since leaving Boston, Geoff has toured as a guitarist with Grammy winner Shelby Lynne and producer/songwriter Linda Perry. Relocating from San Francisco to Los Angeles in 2000, Geoff currently plays with many of LA's local favorites including Quincy Coleman, AM, Acadamy Award® nominee Bird York, Buck Johnson, Jill Sobule, Walk the Line co-star Waylon Payne, Dead Rock West, Zack Hexum and Heather Waters to name but a few, and has even jammed with Laurie Morgan, Norah Jones and John Waite. In the studio, Geoff's guitar playing has appeared on the multi-platinum records Disney's 'High School Musical', 'High School Musical 2' and 'Hannah Montana' as well as recordings by Island recording artist Jon Mclaughlin, and singer Joan Osborne. Geoff is also a busy studio engineer/producer/composer having worked on various projects for television and music. He has composed for the Travel Channel, the Food Network and Mattel and several independent projects and his own original songs have been used on television programs such as Jag. As an independent artist, Geoff has released a full length CD "Anything at All" and an EP entitled "Someplace Like Nowhere", containing the songs "The Man with the Unbreakable Heart", 'Caroline and "Nightmare Waiting to Happen". Working with a cast of fabulous musicians (including drummer Bryan Head, keyboardist Michael Bluestein, bassists Dave Meshell and Jon Evans), Geoff has self-produced this new EP in the sonic shadows of classic records such as Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush" and the Beatles' "Rubber Soul", once again mixing and co-producing with Tori Amos' bassist Jon Evans at his studio San Pablo Recorders in Oakland, CA. Recorded from August 2001 through June 2002 in studios, houses and even apartments by Geoff and engineer Bradley Pickel, the songs were then mixed by Geoff and bassist/engineer Jon Evans of Tori Amos' band. Anything at All features a cast of fantastic musicians such as drummer Bryan Head (Abandoned Pools, Black Lab, Shelby Lynne) bassist David Meshell (Peter Case), drummer Dan Foltz (Linda Perry, Alex De Grassi) and keyboardist Michael Bluestein (Motherbug, solo). With 11 songs crossing a diverse pallet of styles, Anything at All takes the listener from introspective corners to universal landscapes using organic instrumentation and intimate vocals. Songs like "All You Want To", "Used to the Rain" and "Come Back" have a radio friendly, rootsyfeel suggesting the likes of Wilco or John Hiatt, while vibey rockers such as "Help Myself", "Shine" and "Chase This Cloud Away" have a more classic rock sound. Complimenting those songs are the lush and melodic title track "Anything at All", where one might be reminded of English pop lords XTC or early Todd Rundgren, and the closing track, the haunting ballad "I'm Frightened". The record takes an adventurous, folky turn with the subtly orchestrated "The Day" and "Never Say Goodbye Again", an acoustic song based on a bazaar, true tale of a man's final parting with his father. Anything At All album
$9.55 Susan Boyle's grand unveiling on Britain's Got Talent was with a song from Les Miserables - the very song that lends this album its title -- and if she could become an international sensation based on a show tune standard, there's no reason for her to change her approach on her debut, since that's the sound that made her a star. Plus, a large part of Boyle's appeal is that she's a middle-aged woman recalling a bygone era when there were singers that appealed to an adult audience by offering soft, stately versions of pop hits and standards. That time was the late `60s and early `70s, and apart from a rather faithful version of Madonna's "You'll See," I Dreamed a Dream could very well have been released all those years ago, as it mixes up the show tunes, gospel, and Christmas carols with covers of Skeeter Davis' "The End of the World," the Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses," ...
| | Jimmy Buffett Buffet Hotel CD (2009)
Anything At All CD music
$9.74 Since Jimmy Buffett never leaves his comfort zone, it's hard to call 2009's Buffet Hotel a return to roots but, in a way, it is. Discounting the mock rap on "Turn Up the Heat and Chill the Rosé," this album doesn't even have the lingering country and reggae flavors that seasoned 2006's Take the Weather with You, with all of the songs riding a cool, mellow country-rock wave, the kind that has been his stock-in-trade since the `70s. There's a difference between being part of a tradition and being stuck in the past and Buffett is surely in the former, not shying away from the new millennial mess, admitting that we all have "A Lot to Drink About" and never flinching from his advancing ...
| | Pink Funhouse CD (2008) Explicit
Anything At All music CDs
$8.99 Pink's insistently hooky, attitude-filled pop-rock has kept the singer a fixture on the radio and on singles charts since the early 2000s. The artist's fifth effort, FUNHOUSE, doesn't tamper with the formula: Pink's powerhouse vocals and in-your-face approach, backed by stadium-sized production, are in full effect on all 12 tracks. Even though the album deals primarily with aftermath of her divorce and includes serious moments of self-confrontation ...

Anything At All music CDs
$12.95 Acid Mothers Temple & the Melting Paraiso U.F.O.: Cotton Casino (vocals); Makoto Kawabata (bouzouki); Tsuyama Atsushi (bass guitar); Koizumi Hajime, Higashi Hiroshi.
This is where it all starts to get strange and beautiful. While it's true listeners have come to expect the strange from Acid Mothers Temple, this is indeed a new phase of recording for them. For starters, it's the final album of the Mothers with Cotton Casino (who not only sings but plays "beer and cigarettes," too). There are two tracks here that total an hour. Given that, the average punter(though Mothers heads tend to be anything but "average") may be thinking, "Oh, it's more of that cosmic supersonic freakout stuff, and who needs another one of those?" Well, that's wrong -- and right. First, "La Le Lo" is a snaky, hunted, long droning modal thing with Casino chanting the verses over and over again as the band dips and winds, crawls and walks to the middle section, where ...
