| | Livio My Life, Vol. 1 CD (2002)
Marta Gomez CD music
$20.25 Livio's 2001 release for Pak Pros, My Life, Vol. 1, surprised many in the underground scene. Despite being on an indie label and being from Seattle, Livio attracted an impressive roster of guests for his album, including D-12, Tray Deee, Noreaga, and Spice 1, among others. Moreover, Livio worked with respected producer Funk Daddy (E-40, B-Legit, Sir Mix-a-Lot, C-Bo), who lays down all the beats on the album. Livio definitely reps the West Coast, but his flow and rhyming style are somewhat reminiscent of an East Coast MC, no doubt a testament to his abilities -- he reps like a West Coast gangsta yet rhymes like an East Coast b-boy. Rarely do underground rap releases sound this polished and professional; if you didn't know otherwise, you'd assume this was a major-label release. ~ Jason Birchmeier
Livio Bio In the rainy city known as Seattle, a young lyricist is prepared to blow supported by his crew the twenty year old rhymer with punch lines you just can't ignore, absorbs images from his environment and turns them in to lyrics that will keep your rewind button busy. From going to school to turning to the streets and finding himself in and out of juvenile, Livio always had a niche to rhyme, no matter where he was he would always be putting words together and he has never been one to shy away from his life's gritty reality. Known on his city streets for having impressive talent at such a young age, Livio would rap any chance he got and would record at another local rappers house that he had befriended. "It wasn't really much" says Livio "I think we were recording on an 8 track, but at least we got to hear ourselves on tape and when I finally got of probation I stopped going to school and decided to take my music seriously because I saw that I could get paid to do what I love to do." He was only 16 years old. After a year of writing rhymes, Livio hooked up with an old friend turned promoter (Amir). The two decided to join forces and put together Livio's first album. They got with platinum producer Funkdaddy and nine months later out came his debut album "My Life vol. 1" Livio's first complete studio album. The album had guest appearances by artists like Noreaga, D12, Trey Dee, B-Legit and several other west coast legends. His first album was well accepted in the Northwest as well as the rest of the west coast but poor management and other things made Livio unhappy with the situation he was in. "Shit just wasn't getting done, all the artists on the label were making music that was never being put out" Livio continues "We were starting to go backwards, It's all good it just didn't work out, so me and the rest of the click started doing our own thing." Livio has stuck with his crewmembers and has now started his own Label called Funk Daddy Records. Inspired by his love for Rap, his family, friends and, the other members of his crew, Livio's aggressive yet complex street smart rhyme style has shook Hip-Hop's foundations. "I grew up listening to niggaz like Ice Cube and N.W.A., L.L. Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, 2pac,and Snoop" says Livio "So when I wrote my own rhymes most of it came from ...

$18.55 With their third album "Les Riam" (The Gazelles, slang for "Girls"), AHLAM (The Dreams) from Marrakech take you on a trip through the popular "Shabee" world of restorative and hallucinatory visions of love, escaping this time at least from their "Jeel" (socialpolitical lyrics) attachement. The very strong feeling of affection towards a blinded physical notion of helplessness and based on a traditional-fusion delirium, is guiding you now to the popular sights of Moroccan, Iraqi and Algerian tracks, while the others songs are new AHLAM compositions inna di typical squalor from the ghetto.
