the don brewer blues project is an all original blues band from the northeast usa. we incorporate both west coast blues and chicago styles into our original sound. the end result is a kind of gritty, swinging, juke joint high energy blues music.we have been compared to albert king, stevie ray, clarence gatemouth brown and john lee hooker.the debut album "voodoo soul blues" was recorded live, straight up and raw with all of the "nasty bits" left in.you can swing to it, groove to it, dance to it, shake your bones to it and even listen to it.reviews"this song kicks ass" garageband"burn the walls down with that strat" mixposure"this is juke joint blues at it's best" mixposure"stings like albert collins, smokes like stevie ray" garageband Voodoo Soul Blues Music | Category | Blues Albums | | Label | CD Baby | | CD Universe Part number | 7153140 | | Catalog number | 61227 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Nov 29, 2005 |

$11.39 ABOUT THE MUSIC Hi everyone, we're called "Paul Fisher and the Mulligan Kings"!!!We love to have fun,but don't let that fool ya,cause we take our music very seriousilly!!!We are a 'Jump' band, which is to say a high energy swing band steeped in the deep blues. Whats with the name you ask, well my name is Paul Fisher ,and we enjoy the odd game of computer golf and the idea of'Taking a Mulligan' has a certain appeal.I mean Imagine that with every mistake you make in life, all you need to do is raise you hand and say "MULLIGAN" and all is forgiven and the game of life continues.Since we believe that we are the first to champion this cause we are therefore the MULLIGAN KINGS Why we made the record, well for a few reasons really .First having your own band you get to play your own music.I mean what an idea no more cover tunes (well a lot less anyway) no more blowin 'standards' but try out your own imaginings!!!Second we thought that there weren't enough "Swing"bands around.A Real Swing Band ,is where each player in the band has no concern with showing how hot he can play, but where each member of the band dedicates his very soul to do what ever he can to make the band swing harder.Third we want to bring a little more'fun' to the bandstand. In the school of "Fats" Waller,or Louis Jordan.Guys who could swing like mad and make you die laughing,(at the same time). And Fourth to acknowledge the fact that we're in the Twenty First Century Wow,when I looked at what I just wrote, I realize, I should be really tired, after trying to accomplish so much!!!FOR YOU TECHIESNo not Trekkies...Anyway no computers;were experimented on,used,or abused in the making of this album and our thanks to Larry at Turtle Recording Studios for his live recording expertise.ABOUT THE BAND ...

$17.09 The RubTones:Johnny Roy Hedger, Guitar & VocalsSean McLaughlin, Bass,Backing VocalsJim Turner, Drums,Backing VocalsGuest Artists:Terry "Harmonica" Bean, Harp,HarmonicasDonald & Shanna Mayes, Backing Vocals on Blues Take Me HomeJimbo Mathus, Little Junior, misc. Backing Vocals,Handclaps,Colt 45'sProduced by Johnny Roy and Jimbo MathusThe RubTones and myself thought it would be interesting to "go south" and seek out a recording studio that catered to the genre of blues and would be sensitive to what were trying to achieve in our music...The idea was to avoid the overly slick approach of most modern studios and veer back into the days of "old school" recording techniques and the idea of capturing an artists sound as one's ears would hear it in the same room. Thus, we chose Clarksdale Mississippi...Home of the Delta blues and the mythical Robert Johnson Crossroads. Birthplace of John Lee Hooker and Little Junior Parker. The stomping ground of many great blues artists, both acoustic and electric, and of course birthplace of the father of southern gospel-based R&B...Sam Cooke. The James Mathus Delta Recording Studio, located in downtown Clarksdale, uses old RCA ribbon mics along with vintage German vacuum tube preamps. The band was ...

Voodoo Soul Blues music CDs
$12.65 Poppa Steve Mutimer began his musical career at age 8 with his first set of drums. He took lessons from Benny Goodmanâs noted big band drummer, Ray Mann, until age 12.At 15 he formed his first band, The Rhythm Kings, in hometown, Rockford, IL in 1958. The group was the first rock ân roll band in the city and became a huge local success for the next 3 years during high school. The Kings cut two records, both of which were regionally successful, with one tune, Maj, reaching the local Top 10 and earning a âbulletâ in Billboard Magazine. After a stint in the US Navy, Steve formed his second band, The Daze & Knights, which became a back up road band for the William Morris Agency, Chicago office, working with their hit vocalists and vocal groups of the time such as The Four Tops, Bobby Goldsboro, The Chiffons, The Crystals, Jimmy Clanton, The Vogues, Brian Highland, Dee Dee Sharp, Len Barry, Dick & Dee Dee ⊠to name a few. This group lasted from 1965 to 1968.Leaving the road after 3 years and newly married, Steve went to work in local radio in Rockford and played drums in an immensely popular club band, The Exceptions, in South Beloit, Wisconsin until the mid 70s when he finally hung up his sticks. For the next 30 years, Steve owned his own advertising agency in Rockford and later San Diego where he wrote and produced hundreds of musical scores for client jingles, AV shows and television programs. One of his scores won a TV EMMY for best music composition. Finally Steve retired from the ad biz and moved to Arizona. With the advent of new musical digital technology over the past several years he furthered his musical skills even more by doing his own composing, programming and editing for personal pleasure. This âhobbyâ led to thirteen CDs so far, produced over the past 4 years. Still getting better (after all these years) combining computer generated tracks, pre-recorded loops, and live musicians (particularly stepson, DG Mattingley, on guitars), Steve hopes to continue producing âfeel goodâ music for new found fans, friends, and his own enjoyment. What Radio Says âŠI have just received your wonderful CD, "The Good Stuff and glad I did as we had a great groove happening in our office as we gave your creation a spin. Man it cooks so solidly, great compositions, great playing, great feel ⊠hey, it's a ...
