| | Greg Boardman Divine Waltz CD Greg Boardman Discography of CDs
I'm a fiddler from Maine whose music reflects the Scots-Irish and French Canadian elements of the local traditional country music I have absorbed over the years, plus the rock and classical chamber music I can't help loving. Once convinced by the playing of Fairport convention's Dave Swarbrick to lay aside my electric guitar for the fiddle, I delved into the Maine traditional fiddling scene, drawing particular strength from the personalities and music of Simon St. Pierre, Otto Soper, Leo Murphy and Ben Guillemette. My first solo CD, Century Reel, pays particular tribute to these influences, containing many traditional fiddle tunes, as well as some recent tunes by friends, including Smokey McKeen and Dudley Laufman. On Divine Waltz I explore many of these and more influences in my own compositions, written between 1998 and 2003. From solo fiddle pieces to a seven piece band many instrumental textures and styles are presented, from the very Irish sound of First Day of School and Back From the Brink, to the Cajun waltz L'Acadienne, to the slavic touches of Jerusalem Breakdown and Warsaw Mazurka, to the decidedly American country touch of the title cut. Praise for Century Reel:"The fiddling is first-rate, as is the accompaniment." Fiddler Magazine"Boardman makes good use of his lilting, driving bow work, putting lift into every tune."Dirty Linen Greg Boardman Divine Waltz Songs | 1. | Jerusalem Breakdown |

Divine Waltz album
$14.44 With The Fall, Norah Jones completes the transition away from her smooth cabaret beginnings and toward a mellowly arty, modern singer/songwriter. Jones began this shift on 2007's Not Too Late, an album that gently rejected her tendencies for lulling, tasteful crooning, but The Fall is a stronger, more cohesive work, maintaining an elegantly dreamy state that's faithful to the crooner of Come Away with Me while feeling decidedly less classicist. Some of this could be attributed to Jones' choice of producer, Jacquire King, best-known for his work with ...
| | John Mayer Battle Studies CD (2009)
Divine Waltz CD music
$11.18 It's no secret that John Mayer is a 21st Century Fox, wining and dining women all through tabloid headlines, so it's about time he delivered an album that traded upon his loverman persona -- and Battle Studies is that record in spades. Retaining more than a modicum of the slick, soul-blues undertones of Continuum, Mayer fashions a modern groove album, a record that maintains a smooth seductive vibe so thoroughly it spills into a one-man band cover of "Crossroads." Mayer remains somewhat of a disciple of Slowhand, but he shows an unusual interest in the big AOR stylings of Journeyman, along with Stevie Ray Vaughan's In Step, creating a coolly clean blend of synths and Strats, one that's as much about texture as it is about song.something perfectly appropriate for a make-out album like this. Sometimes, ...

| | Leona Lewis Echo CD (2009)
Divine Waltz album
$11.18 The goal of Leona Lewis' 2007 debut, Spirit, was to prove that an X Factor winner could be a phenomenon not just in the U.K., but in the rest of the world. The goal of her second album, 2009's Echo, is to prove that success was no fluke, to build upon "Bleeding Love" and turn Lewis into an actual diva. Certainly, Echo in any of its incarnations -- its song listings are tailored for individual markets, with the U.K. getting a cover of Oasis' "Stop Crying Your Heart Out," while the U.S. gets a second song co-written by Justin Timberlake -- uses the chilly, synthesized "Bleeding Love" as its foundation, creating a sheet of sound equal parts Euro-pop and modern American R&B. As opposed to the often-stuffy Spirit, this is proudly modern, and if the sounds emanating from the two sides of the Atlantic might seem to be aesthetically opposed, they're both producer-driven music constructed layer by layer from rhythm to the vocal, where the overall sound matters more than what's being sung. Which isn't to say that Lewis doesn't ...
| | Lou Reed New Sensations CD (1984) Reissue; Remastered
Divine Waltz CD music
$11.18 Lou Reed never struck anyone as one of the happiest guys in rock & roll, so some fans were taken aback when his 1984 album New Sensations kicked off with "I Love You, Suzanne," a catchy up-tempo rocker that sounded a lot like a pop tune. After reaffirming his status as one of rock's greatest poets with The Blue Mask and Legendary Hearts, what was Reed doing here? Lou was having a great time, and his pleasure was infectious -- New Sensations is a set of straight-ahead rock & roll that ranks with the most purely enjoyable albums of Lou's career. Reed opted not to work with guitarist Robert Quine this time out, instead overdubbing rhythm ...

Recorded on a shoestring in and around London, and mixed in a remote farmhouse in Cornwall, the album is a tapestry of sounds and songs taking you on an emotional journey through the ups and the downs of a topsy-turvy year.Rather than wallow in misery like many of his contemporaries, Jonny has conjured up a smile-inducing cornucopia of mellow folk, twisted with orchestral euphoria, jazz and ...
