| | Tia Knight Blackwood CD Tia Knight Discography of CDs
From the eerie "Witches Brew" to the somberly elegant and striking "Loss," Tia Knight provides an intriguing range of ambient instrumentals with a medieval tone. "Bringer" opens percussively, with a pulsing beat that continues through the composition. "Vertigo" is another percussive exploration, this one in a more subtle, muted range, yet also with a catchy rhythm that will get listeners wanting to move. Then "Staircase" offers rising keyboard crescendos and horn fanfares, while "Sticks-n-Stones" explores a darker ambient sound that would make effective theme music for events portrayed in an ominous setting. In her description, the artist likens it to "black widows dancing across the moon." The harpsichord on "Raindance" is an effectively atmospheric touch. In all, Blackwood is an enjoyable debut for fans of ambient music, and will have listeners reaching for repeat play. ~ Murrday Fisher Composer/Singer Tia Knight, born in 1969 in Meridian, Mississippi, had a strong love of the piano at an early age, sparked by her grandmother, Star. Moving on to keyboards in her early twenties, she discovered how to weave sounds both gripping and focused. Blackwood, her debut release in 1999 is a journey not only to another time, but to another place. Homequest, released in 2003 breeds a collection of tunes filled with bewitching vocals and laced with Medieval overtones. Smoke & Mirrors is a new sound from Tia Knight swirling with Sexy & vocals on almost every track. About Tia Knight Can a tune literally represent a stonewall with vines on it or with nothingon it, though it (the tune) be made by a genius whose power of objectivecontemplation is in the highest state of development? Can it be done byanything short of an act of mesmerism on the part of Tia Knightor an act of kindness on the part of the listener?written by composer Charles Ives. $11.39 Sure, she's as close as you can get to naked in the album artwork. OK, so there's an insert hawking Sarah Brightman calendars, coffee mugs, and sweatshirts. Yes, there's a fair amount of calculation likely in her pop-classical crossover. That doesn't mean the lady can't sing like an angel. Before the embryo-with-pipes ...

| | Robbie Robertson Music For The Native Americans CD (1994)
Blackwood CD music
$11.69 From the opening beats of "Coyote Dance" (a rhythm so ancient, Bo Diddley would be proud to claim it), to the whirligig of acoustic and electric sounds comprising "Ghost Dance," the listener is plunged into a world of tradition and technology--one that might suggest Enigma's synthesis of chant and techno to well-traveled listeners.
Rock and roll rustic Robbie Robertson acknowledges and reappraises his own Mohawk legacy by producing and performing MUSIC FOR THE NATIVE AMERICANS. This soundtrack is moody, mysterious and deeply moving, evoking as it does the thoughts and words and traditions of the ancestors, and putting them in a thoroughly modern musical context--no Hollywood dances around the campfire for Robbie Robertson and his collaborators.
Which is to say that ...

$11.49 Alex Grant knows that being fired was one of the most positive things that ever happened to him. Raised in a strict, orderly and loving family to be "something sensible, please", he had followed this direction for forty years, when he was abruptly let go from his job as general manager of a manufacturing firm in Phoenix, Arizona.Although approached by other companies in related fields, Alex decided at that point to really look at his life. 'I had always loved writing and performing music, and had a deep desire to do so professionally', he says thoughtfully. 'I finally decided that if I didn't take this opportunity to pursue what I most love to do, I'd probably kick myself when I was eighty!' Grant's odyssey actually began much earlier. Growing up in a rigid, academically-oriented ...
