| | Maxwell Now CD (2001)
Afterlife CD music
$8.89 "Lifetime" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
Rebounding from the slight sophomore lag generated by 1998's EMBRYA, Maxwell's follow-up NOW abandons the neo-soul man's usual M.O. of using a conceptual arc of songs, and instead focuses on individual cuts. Romance remains the main ingredient found in this Brooklyn native's banquet of song, and although he stands firmly in the neo-soul camp of D'Angelo and Erykah, his use of various stylistic nuances once again stamps him as an original item. Twangy country-flavored licks and subtle DJ scratches pop up throughout the lament "Was My Girl," and scratchy rock guitar riffs are sparingly used over the heavy groove of "Temporary Nite." At the centerpiece is a studio version of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work," a staple of Maxwell's concerts previously showcased on the live 1997 EP UNPLUGGED. Delivered ...

| | Marc Cohn Burning The Daze CD (1998)
Afterlife music CDs
$5.95 Though known to most as the "Walking In Memphis" guy, Marc Cohn is no one-hit wonder. Rather, he's a serious, skillful composer capable of conveying a wide range of moods and emotions. BURNING THE DAZE finds him moving through horn-driven R&B ("Already Home"), literary minor-key introspection ("Girl Of Mysterious Sorrow") and much more. Produced by Cohn with Shawn Colvin's right-hand man John Leventhal and Yardbird-turned-impresario Paul Samwell-Smith, this album of thoughtful, heartfelt variations on the folk-rock tradition draws the listener into Cohn's world. The polished-but-earthy production complements the humble insights of the songs.
Personnel: Marc Cohn (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, slide guitar, piano, background vocals); Rosanne Cash (vocals); Bill Dillon (guitar); Larry Campbell (acoustic guitar); Jane Scarpantoni (cello); RIck DePofi (tenor saxophone, marimba, hand claps); Chris Botti (trumpet, flugelhorn); Peter Gordon (French horn); Larry Farrell (trombone); Jon Brion (harmonium); Malcolm Burn (organ, percussion, background vocals); Shawn Pelton (drums, percussion); Aaron Comess, Rev. | | Visual Figured It Out CD (2006)
Afterlife songs
$10.65 No guns, No Crack, No Hoes ... Motivational, soulful, hardcore rap music ..."Figured It Out" is an album from VISUAL, a regular every day cat from Chicago. He's dealt with the guns, the drugs, the hoes and the clubs but knows that the world is bigger than that. "Figured It Out" is about the point in your life where everything becomes clear. It is a trip through the then, the now and the future of this young Chicagoan’s life. Conceptually the album is a message of self realization and self empowerment. Production wise Infinite Beats, Deebo and Panik of the Molemen set mood’s that allow the artist become one with each song. On songs like "Everything", the topic goes perfect with the beat that seems to have a boom bap feel to it but at the same time reminds you of 90’s west coast rap and still brings modern elements. On anthems like "Impossible is nothing" and "BY THE CRIB", Visual brings high energy and on the flip side he slows it down with story raps on "Dope: my drug story" and "Loyalty". Diversity is added with guest appearances by the freestyle legend Juice on "Blessed" and the Soulful voice of West Restless on "Dreamer”. Lady T and Blanca Rodriguez also add their own touch with guest vocals on "Beautiful Woman" and "Relax”. On songs like "Every day thang" and "Ya'll are los'in”, Nalij, Dism and Chances of Community Service represent the correct way."Figured It Out" is emotional, motivational, Soulful, hardcore hip hop music from one of Chicago's hardest working artist. By the end of this album you have a better understanding of the artist and the man. This is an album for regular people who don't fit into the exaggerated, watered down, repetitive world of hip hop that exist todayDISCOGRAPHY :Matlock - Crazy artist type (tape) 98'Verbal - Prelude to nothing (CDR) 99'Prime - The Cleansing (CDR) 00'Ndvisual - Dirty Ep 00'Ndvisual - Work 03'Record Playas - Sound Tracks for days ...
