Prior to these new CPO recordings, I had never heard of Felix Weingartner but that has all changed now. I am surprised that he has not been performed more often because his music is colourful, exciting and very appealing. Weingartner is definitely a late Romantic and he is not too far away from Dvorak or some of the other late romantic composers to fit right in. He definitely is a worthy contemporary of Richard Strauss. I like Weingartner's music so much that I now have all 4 of CPO's current recordings. BMB
