River Of Hope songs
$9.29 You tried to teach me How to bend my lips around the sound of \"o\" mit umloutBefore you slipped my finger into a silver ring.I felt hope rushing overThe rocks of Buttermilk FallsThe cool moon glinting In Ripples around your ankles,Plopped in the cold north sea.Late one night walking home From the Lünen GymnasiumYou moved to take my Nervous elbow, but somehow Our hands touched, our moist Fingers laced. About Gabe Tavares [of THE THiNS] In 2001--Guitarist/ vocalist Gabriel Tavares was quietly listened. Tavares prepared a hybrid of darker musical strains under the title "Cipher." With this, his debut solo recording, Tavares limns that part of the mind veiled beyond the grasp of pure reason where shadowy memories and painterly images circle, endlessly informing every tick and gesture of what we are. "Cipher" is a tale of curiosity and the humbling discovery of a shifting nether world, alternately imbued with eerie grace and awesome surges of the mindless and the faux. It is a homemade legend of crudely rendered symbols gathered along a labyrinthine walk in the dark. 2004--a second recording entitled “Postcard Angels” was made with an uglier and punkier feel and a tighter and more aggressive trio called The THiNS featuring Brian Dudla [Plastic Nebraska] on drums and AJ Strauss [The Sutras] on upright bass. Support on the road for this recording has been mostly solo with performed loop arrangements (very enthusiastically received at CBGBs) and briefly an adapted moniker—The Gabriel Tavares THiNS Sensations. Tavares longs for Full-blown trio performances which have thus far made only Ithaca, NY home—yet ...

| | David Morreale From The Dirt CD (2005)
River Of Hope music CDs
$15.19 David Morreale kicks off From the Dirt with the easy flowing, folk-tinged "Angel of the Road." The folk here, however, trades in the coffee house vibe for full-band, unplugged arrangements with the occasional electric element, and trades in traditional folk songs for mostly self-penned ones. Acoustic and piano mingle easily together on "Let It Be Me," while tasteful keyboards adorn the backdrop of "Falling." The title track features an interesting combination of spoken verses and sung choruses, though the singer/songwriter lyrics stretch the central metaphor -- humans as naked angels that eventually grow wings to lift them out of the dirt -- to the breaking point here. Another weakness is that Morreale extends most of his songs between four and five minutes, which works well enough when the songs have strong hooks like "Angel of the Road," but not so well on less distinct melodies like "Whitewall Tires." This over-extension is abetted somewhat by slight shifts in arrangements that help individual songs stick out ("Missing Baltimore") and prevent the album from sounding too samey. While the album title doesn't really suggest it, From the Dirt returns over and over to the theme of the open road, from "Angel of the Road" to "Whitewall Tires" to "(The Beginning Of) The Road Years." Although From the Dirt has a number of shortcomings, Morreale's observations, varied arrangements, and likable performances make the album a solid outing. ~ Ronnie D. Lankford, Jr.
DAVID MORREALEA Bio "Writing songs is honest work, like digging ditches, or laying bricks. It's just not as hard," So says performing singer/songwriter David Morreale. Fans have described David as "the James Dean of the folk scene" and while his music is too broadly based to encompass only one style or genre, a beautifully-played acoustic guitar and soaring baritone are at the center of his sound. When David hits the microphone, the intimacy and personal connection that he establishes with the audience is as apparent as his sense of humour and love for the stories he tells between songs. He is as likely to launch into a story as he is to sing one of the songs from his new CD, "From The Dirt." David left home at 16 and hit the road for ten years of hitchhiking and busking on European streets and in the London Underground. Homelessness, hard luck and constant movement were ever-present for David. Through this, ...
| | Sam Jaffe Something To Fall Back On CD (2004)
River Of Hope songs
$7.99 Born in Boston, MA to folk-hippy parents, Sam Jaffe was captured by music and the arts at a very early age. Learning how to play guitar and piano from his mother at age 5, he gravitated towards the great artists of his parents’ generation; singer-songwriters such as Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Joni Mitchel, and Paul Simon, and classic rock acts such as The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and The Beatles. He says, ”it seems now that my earliest memories are musical. Whether it was riding in the car with my mom at age 3 or 4 and singing along with Get Back at the top of my lungs, or singing If I Had A Hammer with my pre-school teachers… there was just always music around, and I love thinking of that now”.At 15, toting his acoustic guitar, notebook of songs, and cab fare, Sam started gaining notoriety around New England\'s coffee houses, clubs, and college campuses. After high school in Cape Cod, he went south to study music at the esteemed University of Miami School of Music, majoring in classical voice and jazz composition. It was in these years that he started to combine his roots in folk and rock with his education of jazz and world music, which is evident today in the textures and rhythms that flow through his song’s arrangements. While still in school, he was performing constantly around the Southeast USA, both solo and with a full band. These performances garnered critical, national attention including write-ups in Billboard and Musician Magazine and professional endorsement contracts with Taylor Guitars, D\'Addario Strings, and Line 6.In March ’05 Sam completed his first full-length CD, “Something To Fall Back On”, which he wrote, arranged, produced, recorded, and performed vocals, guitars, keyboards, harmonica, percussion, and did the string programming. In addition, the record features world-renowned musicians Vinnie Colaiuta on drums (Sting, Herbie Hancock, Frank Zappa, etc), Jim McGorman on guitars and keyboards (Avril Lavigne, New Radicals), Derek Frank on bass (Jonatha Brooke, Just Listen), along with other top L.A. session players. “Something to Fall Back On” was mixed by Marc DeSisto (U2, Stevie Nicks, Michelle Branch) and mastered by Bill Dooley (Madonna, Motley Crue, Deftones).“Something To Fall Back On” has received rave reviews, and is currently ...

| | Daybreak Unity: Unique Music For Christmas CD (2000)
River Of Hope CD music
$13.15 The musicians of DayBreak have been harmonizing together since 1990 in and around Lehigh and Bucks Counties of Pennsylvania. We enjoy applying our rich blend of acoustic instruments and voices to Celtic jigs, reels, hornpipes and ballads; American folk tunes and songs, folk hymns, original pieces, and seasonal songs. Our uniquely-woven sounds, as well as innovative arrangements, bring warmth and freshness to an uncommon range of traditional and current genres. Many people recognize the beautiful old melodies of pieces such as "The Butterfly" and "The King of Love" and enjoy the ways we revisit them. They flow well into recent compositions like "Caed Mile Failte" (100,000 Welcomes) or "The Dream". We find that our music speaks to all ages, and have often seen a very diverse crowd stop to listen when we've played in outdoor settings. "Unity ~ Unique Music for Christmas", includes Christmas music from around the Western world. It is unique because many of these pieces, though old, are new to our ears. Unity will make a fine addition to your seasonal listening repertoire, and you may find yourself listening to this CD all year 'round. Here you will find delightful original compositions, Irish jigs and reels, a medieval English song, and a couple of freshly interpreted hymns. There are gentle surprises such as two Manx pieces, a French melody ...
