This CD is compiled of songs written by Wayne Carter, and some are co-written with others, that also are yet to enter the hall of fame.How the title came about:In the late 1970's, I visited "Willie's Pool Hall" in Austin TX, which was owned and operated by Mom and Pop Nelson; Willie's Dad and stepmother. Pop invited a few musicians to have a JAM session. About 5 or 6 showed up, including my brother, Leon Carter, and myself.We were having a fun time until someone requested we do one of Willie's songs. (I don't recall which one it was.) Pop said, "I don't think we know that one." I whispered in his ear "I do." Then Pop said, "wait a minute, maybe we do." He asked me to sing it, and the band followed along nicely. They knew how to play it. When we were done, the guy that requested it came up with a smile and dropped $5.00 in the kitty jar. That meant we all could have another beer.Mom yelled from behind the bar: "I've got me another Willie!" The waitress asked, "That's what I'm gonna call him, "Willie Who?" Joe Hellberg was told by his mother that he was singing long before he could even talk. Joe realized at a young age that music was going to be his life and his dreams. He received a BA in Music Education and has been teaching music to children for over 8 years! From an early age, Joe became very diversified in his styles of musical taste. From the many records that he collected as a child, he listened to everything from Ricky Nelson to Kiss and from The Oak Ridge Boys to Poco (who can be heard on his debut CD: Life, It's All About Love, Loss & Laughter). Joe performed in several instrumental groups that also showcased his voice. Tohubuhu was a rock band that Joe was able to showcase his trumpet playing and his bass vocal harmonies. The Marrier 7 Band was a dinner band that played a lot of the swing hits of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and other greats. Whenever Joe wasn't playing his trumpet, he was singing the songs of Elvis, Frank Sinatra and many others. Joe has competed in many contests on local levels and national levels. If his teaching job wasn't his #1 priority, he would probably be living in the Nashville area or somewhere in which country music is a big part of the surrounding community.Joe's first song was written in 1992 for a theory class at Northern Michigan University. It started as a simple melody with parallel harmony. He could have taken his song to Nashville and performed it in the Jim Ed Brown Theater for a national contest. But Joe was glad that fate kept him away because he realized many years later that his voice hadn't developed fully (nor was the song developed fully!)After seeing a business card for a recording studio close to the town he was living in, Joe decided to check it out.
