| | B Sexuals Ceci N'Est Pas Un Band CD B Sexuals Discography of CDs
The B Sexuals formed in Sacramento, CA late in 2003. They consist of just two members: Phil Goodwin and Mike Conroy. Using a minimalist approach, they rely on an acoustic guitar and two drums to compete with the sound of a full band. The plan usually succeeds. Sometimes it tries really hard. "They accomplish so much considering how little is going on up on the stage. (Rant Magazine 7. 04) As far as cities go Sacramento's a small place, but the music scene offers several outlets. Great places to see the band include Old Ironsides and Luna's. But you're not limited to traditional rock shows when you see The B Sexuals. They perform theatrical pieces like 'The Synthetic Pleasure Show' and make occasional appearances at comdey nights. No element defines the B Sexual sound more than Mike Conroy's drumming. With the use of brushes he accomplishes a range impossible with sticks and a traditional set-up. Mike played for several years in various jazz and dance groups and this dance-beat background allows every song to cruise by. "Conroy's brush-stroke percussion left plenty of room for the audience to hear Goodwin's quirky, clipped lyrics while providing a strong backbeat." (Sacramento News & Review 12. 23. 04) If this doesn't sound appealing, and you still need those big cymbal crashes, go see Mike play in Giant Squid. Phil has fronted several bands in the Bay Area. After relocating to Sacramento he began a project called Maggots Or Rice which used his late grandmother's typewriter for percussion. They were "a visually curious duo with haunting songs and painstakingly catchy melodies." (SM Daily Journal) With The B Sexuals, Phil's songs are much more accessible, if you get past all the broken strings. He plays the guitar as if he's mad at it; energy present in every song. Alive and Kicking awarded the band with Best Stage Presence for 2004. And he still types every lyric on the typewriter. Ceci N'Est Pas Un Band album
$11.18 With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Mercifully, he came in second to Kris Allen, for if he came in first he may have had to tame his self-styled glamazon ways. A second place finish allowed Lambert to come out of the closet and indulge in his penchant for theater on his debut, For ...

Ceci N'Est Pas Un Band CD music
$12.69 Joe's Bio or rather , The Story Behind the Song. How about we talk about the songs rather than the singer for a change ? That's what matters to me and hopefully to you the listener.Track # 1 I Love your KissesSo there I was dating a P H D professor of diversities studies. I learned what diversity was , but that's another story. But anyhow she was cool, academic, blonde , intellectual who has authored a handful of books . I've read one or two that I can remember. She inspired me to write this song and it wasn't just her academic credentials. Sometimes the research and field work required to get material for a song is such hard work:-) But hey, somebody has to do it!Track # 2 East Of EdenDon't you love Oprah? She is so cool and should be President of the Excited States. Her book club reviewed the John Steinbeck novel , East of Eden. The proverbial light bulb went on in my head or maybe just a 60 watt one. What a cool title for a song. What a great metaphor for the current state of mankind. About the same time my friend Keith challenged me to write a 3 chord song. Almost made it , one more minor chord snuck in . It's played in the style of the Soggy Bottom Boys. Track # 3 I'm Your DawgBeing single can be fun and carefree and sometimes it can be lonely. During one of those lonely times I went for a walk in High Park. It was a beautiful spring day and there were joggers, families, lovers holding hands and ugly mutts being walked by their gorgeous owners. In a fit of self pity, I thought damn! even those dogs have some one to walk with and here I am walking alone. Hey baby, I' your dawg. Then I started to laugh and write that down. Track # 4 Think of MePicture your high school girl friend back in the day. Fast forward a lifetime later and you meet her and her husband. What would you say? Where did the time go? How's life? This song is that conversation. It was inspired by 42nd st Frisbee Suzie. We spent a lot of carefree summer days playing frisbee at Marie Curtis Park on the shores of Lake Ontario. Summer nights listening to the White Album in her parents basement. I recently met her and her ...
