| | Dexter's Sandbox True Love CD Dexter's Sandbox Discography of CDs
Dexter's Sandbox emerges from Washington DC's music scene blending unique danceable beats with creative jamming for a radio-friendly sound. The "groove-pop" vibe of Dexter's is equally invigorating in live settings and on their freshman release, "True Love". The five member band is fronted by talented vocalist Helen Whiteley. Sporting a British accent, Whiteley's stage presence is unforgettable. Song writing comes largely from the creative palette of guitarist/keyboardist, Bernie Stoltz. Arrangements evolve in sessions with "riff-heavy" (MTV Online) playing from guitarist Evan Field and lock-step rhythm of bassist Jesse Chappell and drummer Rich Hayden. The group traces its genesis to 1995 when Stoltz, Hayden and Field played in the Georgetown band, Just Bucky. Whiteley and Chappell came on board in 1999 through various City Paper ads and subsequent auditions. Field re-entered the picture in early 2001 after playing for several years with acclaimed DC band Mobia's Trip, enhancing Dexter's popularity and sound. In short order, Dexter's recorded their first EP, a six-song collection of originals that included proven audience favorites such as "Take It or Leave It" and "Love Song," a Mid-Atlantic Song Contest finalist. The band is a regular on the DC club circuit in venues such as the Metro Cafe, Mr. Smith's, and the Hard Rock Cafe and in northern Virginia hotspots like Rhodeside Grill and the Clarendon Ballroom. Dexter's has also performed across the mid-Atlantic in New York, Baltimore, Newark (DE), and Charlottesville (VA). Now entering their third year with the release of their first full-length CD, "True Love," Dexter's Sandbox eyes the next level with good reason. As a pre-release, the title track spent its first two weeks at #1 on the Washington Post's most requested MP3 listener's poll. Keep an eye out for this band. True Love songs
$9.35 The Krims: Chad Rieder (drums), Matt Olson (guitar), Chrissie Holzer (vocals/guitar), Eusabius Burgard (bass), Chris Maloney (guitar) are a five-piece band straight out of Fargo, ND playing an all original set of rock, blues and punk. Starting back in 1999, The Krims have played a variety of different venues from bars to festivals to musical showcases. In May of 2003, The Krims entered Grimm Studios in Portland, Oregon to lay down what is now known as Lusk. This sophomore LP displays everything that The Krims have to offer on eleven tracks. Chrissie Holzer's amazing voice creates a unique environment of music and mood while the rest of the band lays a solid foundation of emotion and energy. As one, the band's sound is distinct and powerful. The Krims have solidified themselves as one of the most diverse and energetic acts to come out of the Midwest. Their shows have captured the attention of audiences both young and old and it is their mission for this to continue. Having played shows across the Midwest and the Western United States, The Krims are moving forward like a steam train with no brakes, and swiftly becoming a force to be reckoned with. "With their latest release, "Lusk," The Krims have become a rock band. Not to say that they weren't before, but "Lusk" is the type of dirty, straight-out-of-the-bar guitar music only made by true-blue rock bands. But beyond just a rock album, "Lusk" also tells the story of five good friends who have stuck together through all types of crazy scenarios the road can throw at a traveling band; a cyclone tale of strange towns, strange people and even stranger pets. From the moment the train whistles by in the album's intro track, "The Open Road," "Lusk" takes off with exuberance scarcely present on The Krims' last release, 2001's "The Intervention Show." Tracks such as "Astro-Honkeytonk" and "The Six Powers" -- an experimental metal dirge reminiscent to NY Loose or the grittier side of Polly Jean Harvey - are a progressive step forward. The rain-laden "Your Time" -- a bluesy rocker seemingly soaked in barbiturates - and the relaxing-to-raucous dynamics of "Like a Dog" are also definite standout ...

$13.89 To say Damian Anderson is a man of the world is somewhat of an understatement. Born in London, of Caribbean parents, Damian lived in Jamaica till he was 12, moved to the United States where he would call D.C., New York, and presently San Francisco, home.Damian Anderson began playing guitar after graduating college and moving to New York City in the early 1990's. Having been the lead singer of various bands and a cappella singing groups in college, Anderson figured it was only natural to add guitar to the repertoire if he hoped to pursue music as his passion. After playing minimal gigs in Manhattan and feeling the anxiety of the rush ...
| | Suite 100 In The Night Kitchen CD (2005)
True Love songs
$11.39 Hailing from north San Diego County, SUITE 100 is a mix of sing-a-long melodies, lush arrangements, thoughtful lyrics and pure pop sensibilities. Core members Matt Mincey (vocals, bass) and Jeff Partridge reunited from their previous effort, the startup band Babelfish, and joined San Diego and LA scene regular Steven Strong (drums) in 2003 to begin work on a collection of musical ideas. In 2005 the labor of love was completed, the self produced debut, In the Night Kitchen. Ambitious yet inviting, the album is rich with harmony and potent, telling lyrics. Much like the Smiths had done before, the music has been finely crafted, with interwoven guitars (new Webster's entry: Guitarchitecture) over mindfully ...
