In May of 2003, The Krims entered Grimm Studios in Portland, Oregon to lay down what is now known as Lusk. This sophomore LP displays everything that The Krims have to offer on eleven tracks. Chrissie Holzer's amazing voice creates a unique environment of music and mood while the rest of the band lays a solid foundation of emotion and energy. As one, the band's sound is distinct and powerful. The Krims have solidified themselves as one of the most diverse and energetic acts to come out of the Midwest. "With their latest release, "Lusk," The Krims have become a rock band. Not to say that they weren't before, but "Lusk" is the type of dirty, straight-out-of-the-bar guitar music only made by true-blue rock bands. But beyond just a rock album, "Lusk" also tells the story of five good friends who have stuck together through all types of crazy scenarios the road can throw at a traveling band; a cyclone tale of strange towns, strange people and even stranger pets. From the moment the train whistles by in the album's intro track, "The Open Road," "Lusk" takes off with exuberance scarcely present on The Krims' last release, 2001's "The Intervention Show." Tracks such as "Astro-Honkeytonk" and "The Six Powers" -- an experimental metal dirge reminiscent to NY Loose or the grittier side of Polly Jean Harvey - are a progressive step forward.
