| | Raven Rites Of Passage CD Raven Discography of CDs
"Raven embodies all the best attributes of independent music... Her songs move seamlessly between straightforward Mississippi blues to ethereal folk rock("Free")." - Kristin Feeley for www.fmsound.orgThis debut CD by Raven Sadhaka won the ASCAP Plus Award twice, and her song "Between Orion & the Bear" (1st track) won a GREAT AMERICAN SONG award in 2005. She is almost her next CD... stay tuned to CDBaby.com for more on that. Raven was raised in a very musical and literary household with Mom a vocalist when not teaching English or writing, and Dad on violin, piano, and vocal harmonies, when not teaching or being a superintendent of schools. Having older parents meant growing up in retro-land, listening to swing and jazz standards, lots of broadway musicals from the 40's, 50's and 60's, classical music and some other unusual fare: Raven was probably the only kid in school who knew a couple of infantry drinking songs from World War II (thanks, Dad). Besides the requisite 5 years of classical piano lessons and an overlapping 6 years of training on flute, Raven also sang in many choirs, glee clubs and smaller groups throughout school and college in addition to some classical vocal training as well. At the age of 12, she picked out a $70 guitar for her birthday and there was no turning back. She was playing variety shows at 15 and was a rhythm guitarist and singer in a band by the age of 16 -- the "Car Doors" (a name created in a moment of desperation before taking the stage for their first gig) was her first band in high school. Growing up just a stone's throw from the metropolitan Philadelphia area in the early seventies meant exposure to some of the greatest R&B of our time -- her first concert was Gladys Knight & the Pips. In addition, Raven owes a great deal of her inspiration to such groups such as the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, and U2, and to solo artists such as Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Emmy Lou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Joan Osbourne and Sarah McLachlan. Lately, she's added Bjork, PJ Harvey, Wah! and Krishna Das to her list of eclectic influences. Her original music reflects her roots and many influences, encompassing folk, rock and blues with a dash of jazz thrown in for good measure. Rites Of Passage songs
$21.00 Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of ...

Chris Munro (guitar & vocals), James Lockhart (vocals, keyboard & guitar), and Matt âTweedâ Jones (drums), met each other in 1999 while attending Harris Institute, where they were studying music production. Long time friend of the band, Sean Coleman joined Open Wide Music in 2005 to take on the band's bass playing duties. The first 2 years were spent in a small apartment in downtown Toronto, where they continuously wrote, recorded and perfected their ...
| | Hannah O'Reilly Stand & See CD (2007)
Rites Of Passage CD music
$6.69 BioâSheâs got lungsâŠâRaised on the âmean streetsâ of New Zealand, Hannah is said to have been singing even as a tot. As a teenager she was trained as a choir singer, always being put as the second soprano not the first (just look at her now Ms Choir Master!). Hannah occasionally picked up a guitar and knew a few chords, but singing seemed to be her thing. But then at 18 she discovered that teenage angst sounded great in song, and poured forth a whole gambit of emo guitar crap.Luckily, her twenties followed, she moved to the UK, and found that the roller coaster of life was great song-writing inspiration. Songs about fire, killing men, famous movie stars, Christian mythology, the elements, lovers, heartbreakers, and being tied up followed - as did the public acclaim.Hannah became the Edinburgh Acoustic Idol two years running in 2004 & 2005; played the Edinburgh Festival Princes Street Gardens main stage in 2004; played the Meadows Festival in 2005; and supported such artists as Wendy Rule (Australia), Lee Patterson (Scotland), and Danny Rodda (New Zealand).Once, she even played with her band The Part-timers in an Asda supermarket car park. Now thatâs class! With catchy tunes, a huge voice, and a cheeky wit onstage, Hannah is a unique talent and one to watch. "What a stunning voice... really unique and hits you between the eyes" - Eddie Raynor (Split Enz)MediaEvening News, Friday 21 January 2005âBohemian rhapsody at Roxy music nightâIt's like some enchanted cathedral. A work of extraordinary charm and grandeur. Candles twinkle in the hallway, while subtle blue and pink lighting enhance the feeling of serenity. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed - Bohemian almost.Up on stage - on what was once the altar - are three up-and-coming singer-songwriters. You'd expect them to be strumming an acoustic guitar in some busy coffee house. Instead they're here at the Roxy Art House, a former church, playing their hearts out.Black-clad, wearing no shoes, and singing straight from the soul, 24-year-old New Zealander Hannah O'Reilly, is a confident and charismatic performer. From the ethereal Blues Boy to the self-deprecating Stupid Girl, she is entrancing...[Abridged]- Barry GordonOut of the Bedroom Review (July 2004)Compere for the evening, Hannah O'Reilly stood tall at the side of the stage for ceiling damage limitation purposes. Her first song was a duet apparently, although she sang both parts, and beautifully too. "We Burn" was, surprisingly, not about a small river, but, in fact the smouldering passion between two people "both stuck in places we don't want to be." The chunky chord sequence ...
