One album
$14.45 After the dark and chilling themes of 2006's BLACK CADILLAC, which saw Rosanne Cash dealing with the deaths of her mother, Vivian Liberto, her father, Johnny Cash, and her stepmother, June Carter Cash -- all of whom passed within a two-year span -- one might assume that her next project would move into an even deeper level of bleakness, but with THE LIST, it's immediately clear that she has instead found a more measured place to stand. It's a lovely and redemptive outing that looks back to go forward. When Cash turned 18, her father, alarmed that his daughter only knew ...

| | Brenda Weiler Trickle Down CD (1997)
One music CDs
$15.19 Trickle Down is the debut album from Fargo's folk singer Brenda Weiler. This album is packed with excellent songs, especially when you consider that this is the work of a relatively young artist. The sound, with its basic instrumentation of acoustic guitar and sparse accompaniment, can easily be compared to early Ani Difranco. The songs, like Difranco's, are extremely personal ("95") and, at times, topical ("Tight"), but it's Weiler's voice, always clear and powerful, that truly carries this disc and sets her apart. Trickle Down is full of pretty songs and pretty melodies -- so much so that there isn't too much variety. It would be nice to hear the album's production get a little rougher around the edges; however, the songs here are interesting enough to carry the whole album. Trickle Down is a very confident debut from a promising young artist. ~ Dan Lee
"Weiler certainly has the talent to rise up to her Lilith Fair counterparts, but shhh, don't tell the committee she's singing funny songs about womanhood, it's supposed to be tragic." - Potpourri and Roses (Los Angeles)"Brenda Weiler's own rapt following connects with her on her own terms. That huge, mighty, yet pretty folk-pop voice comes out of a mouth that can speak eloquently about 'issues' to her audience, and from a head that seems steadier and clearer as she gets more passionate" - City Pages"Without bowing to cliches, or wallowing in adolescent tunnel vision, Weiler's songs work because they're painstakingly real and honest."- Minneapolis StarTribune"Brenda Weiler Live" is the new album from folk-rock-singer-songwriter Brenda Weiler. Her previous three CDs, "Fly Me Back," "Crazy Happy," and "Trickle ...
| | Automatic Pilot CD (2003)
One songs
$6.69 Automatic Pilot was once known as Friend of a Friend, a widely embraced modern rock band that made a big splash in the NW Indiana area from 2001-2002. Automatic Pilot was conceived shortly thereafter as a whole new project that cultivates every musical genre from a predilection of all kinds of different styles. The project primarily consists of James Eric Laczkowski, who composes electronic, ambient, pop soundscapes, with hints of alternative rock, in a singer/songwriter acoustic environment. Although James is the primary songwriter, he hopes of collaborating with several other musicians this fall to record a new album that is currently in the works. Right now the lineup is changing, and the band is constantly evolving. The other two committed members to the project at the present time are Josh Childs and Dan Frailich, who were previously seen in Friend of a Friend exhibiting their fine talents. The only instrument James doesn't play fluently is the drums, and has been playing guitar since he was 10. Between the world of pop punk rock and ambient electronica will emerge an exciting brand new sound!Back in 1992, James became a multi-instrumentalist for such bands ...

One music CDs
$10.15 Let's get the basic facts out of the way first. We're The Irreverends, a 5-piece rock band out of Boston, MA. This is our self-released eponymously titled 4-song EP. Brian Brown (Bill Janovitz, Juliana Hatfield) formerly of the renowned Fort Apache Studios, recorded it to 2" 24-track analog and mixed to 24-bit digital at Analog Divide Studios in Allston, MA. The Irreverends walk the line between roots rock and populist pop with some indie singer/songwriter mentality tossed into the mix for good measure. John Brookhouse (guitar), Brendan Reilly (bass) and Adam White (vocals, guitar) have been playing together in various lineups for several years, and together with veteran indie-rock drummer Chris Keene (formerly of Boston's punk-noir band The Takers) and keyboard player Elio DeLuca, we play rock and roll with the passion it deserves but too often ...

$12.69 The three things I love the most: MusicPeopleTogethernessThree lovely things coming together whena) people listen to what I record and feel lovely with itb) I play a show Writing this bio was an unexpected walk down memory lane, or in other words, it was: India Turner, The REALY Early Years. Aged three being sent to my room because I wouldn't open my mouth to sing, and that same year discovering what applause feels like at The Tabernak (the name finally came back to me). Being shown the Staple Singers. I loved those voices. This was much better than the arias earlier (you see why I refused to sing). I realized for the first time just what an unusual and unorthodox teacher I had. Here was a German Opera Singer who was training her daughter by playing her Gospel records. What guts. And thank god. I do love opera intensely, Dawn Upshaw, how much better can it get?...but nothing feels more connected than expressing those deep down feelings in the cadence of Gospel and Soul and Blues. Perfect vehicles for this mysterious thing called passion. Though CBS Records thought otherwise. I have a string of pop singles, with my name on them, to prove it.I began to take songwriting seriously when I heard Leonard Cohen. A beautiful man, Peter, on whom I had an earnest crush, introduced us. Being German speaking, I don't know how I grasped this artist. It's a testament to the universality of music. For years I sang one of his lyrics in which he mentioned a hard-on. I never got that one until I moved here. Wow. America was a total culture shock. Total because unexpected (Germany is very Americanized). Everything was large. Parking lots, appetites (literal and figurative), friendliness, indifference, opportunity, freedom, commercialism. It was quite the journey to make sense of this place. I hated the slick musical productions, but was overjoyed when alternative music came in and saved the day for a while. In the meantime plenty of interesting projects (and a number of subsequent releases) for which I wrote, produced and performed came along to aide the process of discovery, which is one of America's birthrights. Here we can find ourselves. So, now that I've moved to Seattle I finally know where everything is. My head, ...
