| | Naim Satya With A Song In My Heart CD (2005)
Blue Wild Indigo album
$18.95 Bill Evans once released an album called :Conversations with Myself" in which he over-dubbed piano on to his own piano playing. Playing both piano and bass, Naim Satya has put together some of his favorite song. Left in the studio alone he has produced this CD of musical excitement. These tracks have a feeling between the instruments that you don't often hear. Taking his time putting this CD together, Naim shares with you his joy in making music.Naim started piano lessons at the age of seven, and at the age of eleven took up the trombone. He became student director of the junior high school band and decided he should know how to play all the band instruments. He played solo chair trombone in the stage band and recorded his first record from their talent show. He began playing bass in high school and continued playing trombone in school bands and orchestra groups, from dance music to classical venues. He went on to study music formally at Long Beach Jr. College. In the army he committed his study to bass and piano and being stationed in the San Francisco Bay area he was immersed in the wealth of jazz venues available and participated in many jam sections with the city's best.He became dedicated to Jazz when he heard his first big band music and later when he heard John Coltrane, who became his Mentor. Other influences for Naim were Bobby Darrin, Miles Davis, ...
| | Curtis Darby Mixing The Old With The New CD (2008)
Blue Wild Indigo CD music
$16.45 CD DESCRIPTIONThe name I chose for my CD is: "MIXING the OLD with the NEW". At this point in music history we are losing all the hard work that musicians who have came before us, put into this industry."Being a musician is like being a good cook. It is all about the ingredients. Having roots in Louisiana, we like our stuff hot. My ingredients are gospel, blues, jazz, soul and a pinch of funk. Turn the heat up and stir. When it comes to a boil, pour it into the key of g-minor. That's my recipe for success."My attend is to show people, that there is no thing as 'new music'. It is basically a regurgitation of what has already came before. I believe that music still should deliver a message and that if the music has no meaning or purpose, it should not be written. This CD is about my immediate family; my wife, children and my mother. (maybe not in that order) But it is also a CD that relates to our world today and what is going on. But does not shrink from the responsibility to make this interesting music to listen to, to sing with and to get your groove on. I hope you enjoy this. And listen to the lyrics! That is what I do.Curtis Darby----------------------------------------------------------BIOGRAPHYCurtis Darby is a professional singer, songwriter and musician, but he is also a gifted poet, painter and writer. The last 20 years, he has been an American living and working in Europe. Emerged in the culture and languages of Europe, he became a more enriched person. He believes that being introduced to different styles of music and culture has effected his growth as a musician and an individual. This also led to him finding the connection between all his talents, which resulted in three musicals that he wrote and produced himself. In Europe he prepared for his return to America to acquire a larger audience. And also to translate his life experiences into music, sound and pictures. His reality has become a fantasy that most people dream of: to live, work and play in the world of music.Curtis Darby grew up in Philadelphia where he began to learn his skills by playing percussion and singing in church. His parents were gospel singers and his whole family was busy with music. At the tender age of 9 years old, Curtis entered a talent contest with his brother and some friends. To their surprise the audience threw money and it was clear who was the winner. This was the point in his life where his journey to become a musician was realized. At the age of 14 he played in a well-known band as a percussionist for about 7 years. Being a 70-ties band, there was more than one percussionist. And the band had a secret meeting to fire him. They came to the conclusion they had one to many percussionists. In order to fit in, he borrowed an old trumpet from his brother and began practicing. Within a year’s time, people were defining Curtis as a trumpet player. To get even, he left the band. He became a jazz-musician, playing trumpet. While ...
