Meg Johnson Band“Because there is such an abundance of fine music emanating from our glorious valley, I regretfully don't get to hear it all. But I will say without hesitation, this is some of the finest talent around.” - Mike Jurkovic, Chronogram Magazine “Drawing from bluegrass, country, stirring folk, and psychedelic pop, the group casts a rich, organic vibe that suggests — take your pick — Sheryl Crow fronting the Allmans, Edie Brickell with the Band, or Bonnie Raitt leading Little Feat.” – Dave Richards, Erie Times News “A truly incredible and dynamic vocalist whose band spans influences including Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, and classic rock. Hailing from Woodstock NY, Meg Johnson has the voice of angels, and the band fleshes out their incredible material with a mixture of acoustic and electric instruments.” - Phil Simon, Simon Says Booking“…the writing here is far beyond being merely respectable and, especially for a debut, the band sounds more seasoned and professional than a lot of major label players.” - Robin Cracknell, Americana UK The Meg Johnson Band released its first full-length CD, “Between You and the Golden Sun”, on Fluke Records, LLC in 2004. Featuring the brilliant performances of Stephen Mayone (Chris Delmhorst) on Electric Guitar and Mandolin, Kevin Maul (Burns sisters, Robin and Linda Williams) on Steel Guitar and Dobro, Doug Marcus (Harmony Grits) on Upright Bass, Eric Parker (Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker) on Drums and Bob Resnick (Folding Sky) on Percussion, “Between You and the Golden Sun” boasts a fresh approach to music rooted in the American folk-rock tradition. The song “One More Time” is currently featured on WMVY Martha’s Vineyard’s “Fresh Produce” sampler. At least 7 out of the 11 songs on the disc have been featured on radio playlists on stations in the northeast as well as many internet streams. You may have heard Meg’s singing on The Breakfast’s “Deuce” or more recently on Tom Pacheco’s latest release, “Rebel Spring” – produced by Jim Weider of The Band. While living in New Haven and New York City in the mid 90’s, She and partner Kyle Esposito co-fronted Fourth House, Releasing the CD “The Flood” and sharing stages with the likes of Government Mule and God Street Wine. The Meg Johnson Band began taking shape after relocating to Woodstock and writing songs while playing in a small acoustic format. They released their first EP “Midwest” in 2000. With the release of the “Jones” EP in early 2003, the band began performing shows featuring songs co-written by Meg and Kyle. Live, the band showcases the virtuosity of the players as well as the band as a whole while staying true to the songs.CONTACT:Kyle EspositoFluke Records, LLC PO Box 332 Woodstock, NY 12498845-246-9664 kyleespo8@hotmail.com www.megjohnsonband.com Between You And The Golden Sun Music | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Rock CDs | | Label | Fluke Records, LLC | | Orig Year | 2004 | | CD Universe Part number | 7160173 | | Catalog number | 61824 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Mar 01, 2005 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Recording Time | 49 minutes |

Between You And The Golden Sun CD music
$14.35 Deke Dickerson is one of America’s musical treasures. As an entertainer and musician, he has toured the world and established himself as one of the foremost purveyors of roots music, headlining festivals from Las Vegas to Finland. As a writer and music historian, he is well known for his regular column in Guitar Player magazine and recently authored two enormous essay projects for Bear Family’s 2007 Merle Haggard box sets. As an entrepreneur, Deke has partnered with Hallmark Guitars to produce the Deke Dickerson model guitar, as unique in its design as its namesake. As a behind-the-scenes mover and shaker, Deke has recorded songs that have been featured in a variety of movies, TV shows, and radio programs, from the Oscar-winning movie Sideways to HBO’s documentary Dirty Driving: Thundercars of Indiana and the hugely popular XM satellite radio show Theme Time Radio Hour with Bob Dylan. For this last, Deke not only contributed background guitar music but was also interviewed and quoted by Bob Dylan.Deke’s latest project is his new studio album, King of the Whole Wide World. Like his previous albums it’s a musical journey through the twisted roots of Americana, but this time the roots go deeper and further than ever before. He comments, “People love to label me rockabilly, but that’s just a small fraction of what I do. There are a couple of great rockabilly songs on the new album, but there are a lot of other styles as well, from bluegrass (“Boone County Bluesâ€) to western swing (“Misshapen Hillbilly Galâ€) to Memphis soul (“Make Way for a Better Manâ€) to doo-wop and rhythm and blues (“Itchin’ for My Babyâ€). The title track (“King of the Whole Wide Worldâ€) could even be called old-timey; it’s a tongue-in-cheek, autobiographical song about being a rich man without the constraints of money or fame. I decided the song sounded better with some 78 rpm record noise dubbed onto it. Call me sentimental, but I really think music like that sounds better with a little grit.â€For the recording process, ...
