| | Bicycle Thieves Second Place Confession CD Bicycle Thieves Discography of CDs
Mark Jenkins of The Washington Post says:"The Thieves possess something that many of their stylistic peers lack: songs. Jon Kaplan, the band's singer-composer, knows how to pin a phrase to a shiny hook and sling it skyward...Kaplan's songcraft is no small attraction"For the recording of their new EP, The Second Place Confession, Washington, DC's Bicycle Thieves assembled an all-star cast to help. Produced by Chris Keup (River, Jason Mraz) and Stewart Myers (Agents of Good Roots), the disc was recorded at Dragonfly studios, where Jason Mraz recorded his newest release. The disc also features one track recorded with Jack Johnson at his studio in Hawaii. Fred Kevorkian, widely known for his work on the latest White Stripes releases, mastered the disc at Absolute Audio in New York City.Bicycle Thieves have already started to get radio play on Washington stations like DC101 and were recently chosen to play two sets (one acoustic, one electric) at the 2003 HFStival, the legendary annual concert at RFK Stadium, sponsored by one of the biggest Alternative rock stations in the country, WHFS. Eric Brace of The Washington Post has praised the band's "smart, rocking pop songs" and the band has been garnering more awards and coveted performance slots in the DC area every year. This past summer's list of shows included a slot at the Fort Reno concert series, which helped launched the careers of indie and punk bands like Dismemberment Plan. Lead singer Jon Kaplan has won the Washington Area Music Awards (Wammies) for Best Alternative Rock vocalist two years in a row and the band was awarded Best Alternative Rock Duo/Group in 2002; they've been nominated for eight Wammies this year. The band has also had music licensed to MTV's "The Real World". | | Lady Gaga Fame Monster CDs (2009) Deluxe Edition
Second Place Confession CD music
$16.24 Initially planned solely as a standard double-disc reissue in the wake of the blockbuster success of The Fame, Lady Gaga decided to release the new material as a separate EP called The Fame Monster in addition to the standard two-CD set, where it's tacked onto a now standardized version of her debut. It's a nice move for fans, plus it helps emphasize the new material, which does act as a bridge from the debut to a forthcoming full-length. Everything on The Fame Monster bears a galvanized Eurotrash finish, as evident on the heavy steel synths of "Bad Romance" and the updated ABBA revision "Alejandro," as it is on the rock & roll ballad "Speechless" -- its big guitars lifted from Noel Gallagher -- and the wonderful, perverse march "Teeth." Even the stuttering splices on "Telephone," a duet with Beyoncé, leans to the other side of the Atlantic, which just emphasizes the otherness that's become Gaga's calling card. And even as she's becoming omnipresent, with ...

| | Fade To Blue Sentenced To Life CD (2004)
Second Place Confession album
$10.15 Fade to Blue is a pop/rock band based out of Columbus, Ohio. Starting in 2001 with friends and fellow musicians, Kasey Kish (Drums) and Chris Costine (Lead Guitar) united with Dan O’Connor (Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar) to begin writing songs. In early 2002, the band looked to broaden their musical horizons. Fade to Blue combined its musical talents with two experienced musicians, Christy Kish (Keyboards, Backing Vocals) and Kevin Miller (Bass Guitar). With the compilation of these five individuals and their diverse musical backgrounds, Fade to Blue’s sound has evolved to what it is today. After the release of their three song demo in early 2003, the band experienced an ever growing success. They were now playing to packed venues, receiving consistent radio airplay and eagerly continuing to work on new material. With the new material, the band knew that ...
| | Tang Oaktown Ring CD (2000)
Second Place Confession CD music
$10.15 Formed in 1994 from the ranks of the UC Berkeley Marching Band, !Tang is an nine-piece indie-soul extravaganza with a sound that defines "burgeoning." This band will get you up off your ass, grab you by the funkpants, and never let go. But they'll do more than that. They'll make you think, and yes, they might even make you feel something.Taking postmodern cues from artists like Beck and the Beastie Boys, !Tang moves seamlessly through styles - weaving Soul, Rock, Jazz, and Hip-Hop into a purely original thinking man's dance music. Led energetically by the throat of front man Ray Wilcox, the WAMMIE-winning band has been compared to such artists as Lenny Kravitz, Spearhead, and Sly and the Family Stone. Their Tower-of-Power-esque horn section screams pure funk, while their Phish-esque jams recall their classical and jazz training. The ...
