| | James, Jr Soundproof Room CD James, Jr Discography of CDs
"It's a loud and crazy world/Find a sound you love." This line, from the title cut, encapsulates the artistic impetus of Jr. James & The Late Guitar's new disc. Sometimes finding the sound you love means filtering out the leaf blowers, lawn mowers, street buskers, and highway rustlers; sometimes it means accepting the noise, dissonance, and atonality of a hyper-electrified technological society and incorporating it all into your personal rock 'n' roll. Thank Jah for egg cartons, ear plugs, and mixing boards. This collection of tracks represents Jr. James & The Late Guitar's first sustained foray outside the basement environs of Dubatomic Studio, home of the band's four-track, and into the wild and woolly world of legit studio recording, replete with all the perplexing processors, capricious compressors, and mystifying meters, dials, and diodes that drive sonic junkie kuhrayzee. For the best in rootsy analog beauty, the band plugged in to Asheville, NC's Collapseable Recording Studio and set the reel-to-reels rolling. For the most part, the band played together, laying down tracks "live." In homage to Pink Floyd, there were a few overdubs too. Soundproof Room catches the expanded, supercharged Late Guitar, now a glorious six-piece combo featuring some of Western North Carolina's best players: bassist Bill Reynolds and drummer Mike Rhodes (alums of The Blue Rags); and multi-instrumentalists Aaron Price and Tyler Ramsey, who both front their own trios. Junior James again wrote songs and uncovered covers, and Nancy Alenier, in addition to playing keyboards, percussion, and singing, kept the band on track and rang the alarm (like Tenor Saw) when something sounded awry. Special guests added fabulous flavor. Jonathan Lloyd and Steve Farmer of Mandorico played trombone and trumpet on "East of the River Nile" and "King George," while young Jamaican toaster Chiwahwa lent an immigrant perspective to the updated, dancehall version of "American Dream."Go ahead--find a sound you love. Maybe it's a punky reggae party, or it could be a hymn. Maybe it's a jackhammer. Maybe it's something on this little disc. | | Teeth Of Lions Rule The Divine Rampton CD (2002)
Soundproof Room songs
$11.39 Sometimes an album comes along that's so deranged and far gone, it invokes naught but stunned looks of disbelief (often accompanied by uncontrollable drooling) from the listener. Surpassing that is Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine's Rampton, an exercise in doom-noise absurdity that craps black sludge on any and all musical conventions in its path, causing one to chuckle at Napalm Death, who at one time had the tenacity to tout itself as the end of music as we know it. Uh huh. It sort of makes sense that TOLRTD is ...

Soundproof Room music CDs
$11.39 Dominic Yarns is a bit of an enigma.Like good wine and smooth whiskey he has taken his time maturing as a singer,a song writer,a musical arranger,a producer,a sound engineer and DJ. In over thirty years he has performed more than 3000 live shows and spent over 5000 days in a recording studio environment. He knows the nuts and bolts of the global music industry and has worked with many hundreds of bands and artists through the years including David Bowie, Kiki Dee, Annabella Lwin (Bow Wow Wow),The Ants, Davey O'list (The Nice),Danny Kurstow(Tom Robinson Band),King Kurt,Hazel O'Connor,Rupert Everett,Guy Chambers,Anthony Hopkins,Queen,Roger Walters,Deep Purple,Mitch Mitchell,The Only Ones,Lonestar,Wishbone Ash, Hawkwind,Slade, Rupert's People(John Lennon's back up band on'Imagine'),Helena Springs,Frankie Paul,The Pioneers and The Passadenas. In the sixties, he was a songwriter signed to EMI's publishers Ardmore and Beechwood in London's West End. By the end of 1966 he was living in San Francisco and hanging out in the same haunts as The Doors,The Grateful Dead, Buffalo Springfield,Love,Sly Stone and Janis Joplin. He caught a regular weekly spot as a DJ at the newly opened Rose Garden in Daley City and in July 1967 returned to London to put "a state of the art" DJ show on the road which he called "The Magicians Workshop". He toured this show around the U. K and Ireland for the next 7 years. In the mid 1970's he was the co-owner of Roche Studios in Cornwall,S.W.England where both Elvis Costello and A.B.C. cut their studio teeth. In 1979 he picked up 3 No. 1 production credits from CBS (France) for producing J.P.Capdeuvilles first Album "Les Enfants de Tenebre's" and the 2 singles taken from it. Throughout the eighties he was the pioneering spirit behind B.M.D.LTD (Brixton Music Development),a musician and producers co-op based in Brixton,South London with it's own 24 track recording facilities (Globe Studios). For ten years he worked with a steady flow of grass root and over ground projects covering many diverse musical styles from Alternative and Progressive Rock,to Hip Hop,Computer dance, Reggae,Caribbean Steel,Blues,Pure Pop,Soul and good ol Rock n Roll. By 1991 and after 17 years of fairly continuous round the clock sessions,he was advised by a hearing specialist to take a break from the rigors of studio life. Ok,he thought- Next! Well the next thing that happened is that he got sampled by Chicago rap band De La Soul (Say No Go 7" and 12" inch versions Tommy Boy Records). They used some previously released voiceover work from 1975. Long story short - the record went No. 1 in the dance charts and they paid him for the use of the sample. He decided to hit the road again with a show and in ...
