| | Neil Jacobs Cold Fish CD Neil Jacobs Discography of CDs
"Cold Fish" is a unique, exciting, and very listenable mixture of jazz, folk, modern acoutic, and swing. The "Cold Fish" CD is a classic energetic live recording showcasing the early compositions of Neil Jacobs, featuring John Douglas on bass, John Kirk on tenor sax, Neil Jacobs on 12-string guitar, and John Riess on piano, "Cold Fish" documents one night's magical perfomance. In the early 80's, Neil Jacobs became fascinated with music of Weather Report, Oregon, and Pat Metheney. He formed the eclectic ensemble, "Cold Fish", and began to develop compositions perhaps best described as acoustic "folk-jazz". "Cold Fish" was especially acclaimed for its powerful and rhythmic music achieved without the use of drums. "Cold Fish" toured throughout the U.S. opening for such diverse acts as Spyro Gyra, Flora Purim, Airto, Janis Ian, Weather Report, Southside Johnny, David Bromberg, Alan Holdsworth and Jeff Lorber - often to standing ovations. A change in the musical climate forced the group to disband. This recording remains. | | Steve Tyrell This Time Of The Year CD (2002)
Cold Fish CD music
$6.09 Steve Tyrell has attracted enough attention for his two regular albums, A New Standard and Standard Time, that he is almost beyond journalists' usual tack of describing a new singer's voice by who he sounds like; pretty soon, they'll be saying that other singers sound like him. But it remains true that if you have never heard him but you are familiar with Dr. John, your first reaction upon hearing him is likely to be that you are listening to Dr. John. Well, maybe a younger Dr. John, and one whose accent isn't quite as swampy. But the basic elements -- the grit and gravel in the tone, the slurred, deep South phrasing -- are much the same. Of course, Tyrell comes by the sound of his voice honestly, hailing from Houston, TX, and boasting a musical ...
| | Charles Davis Blue Gardenia CD (2003)
Cold Fish music CDs
$12.39 One of JazzTimes top 50 releases! FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES!"This was a good idea: getting the 70-year old saxophonist Charles Davis, who has played in supporting roles with Dinah Washington, Steve Lacy, Kenny Dorham, Sun Ra, Barry Harris and others, to make a lasting artifact as a bandleader. For a tiny independent label, Reade Street Records, it didn't take much more than setting him up with the new version of the pianist Cedar Walton's trio, a crackling example of jazz's maturing mainstream.""Mr. Davis is best known for playing the baritone saxophone, but for the first half of the album he plays tenor with a rather elegant understatement. He balances melodic embellishment with the kind of magpie's relationship to chords that Coleman Hawkins practiced, running up and down them, creating exotic intervals. And the material is well chosen: Mr. Davis's own elegant blues waltz "Texas Moon," tunes by his friends Frank Lacy and John Weston, and "A Beautiful Friendship" ...

| | Erwin Out Of Reach CD (2005)
Cold Fish CD music
$8.39 This modern rock power trio is known as ERWIN. These musicians encompass great talent, along with incredible creativity. The band is Tony B. (vocals, guitar), Randy (bass), and Graham (drums). ERWIN's music can be described as a mix of catchy pop and modern melodic rock. With heavy guitar distortions and undeniable melodies, their music is a combination of cadence and creative lyrics that is displayed in their live performances and captured on their album OUTOFREACH. Every so often a band comes around with a certain uniqueness that grabs you from the opening song, and then gets better with each listen. Every song represents a wealth of rock and roll musical styles. The fascination with this new breed of modern rock musician is their instinctive ability to connect many genres of music, thereby shaping and molding it into something all of their own making; a familiar sound never heard before. The album OUTOFREACH captures ERWIN's diversity, with guitar riffs attacked from every angle, addictive bass lines, thundering beats, and compelling changes. There is never a break, mistake, or misplaced note. Perfection is the word and music of this nature grows inside itself, and it will grow on you with each spin. THE ALBUM:OUTOFREACH is the second collaboration with Super Producer Brian Reeves. In 2003, the band created an EP with 5 songs called WE'RE NOT ERWIN, which was the blueprint for the new record. Reeves, along with ...

He has been performing since the age of 6. Starting with musical theater, Wolff cut his teeth on NY stages. In college he was forced to choose between a degree in acting or a life in music. The rest is history. Wolff has spent the better part of the last 10 years recording music and touring througout the US and Canada. His friendship with Moxy Fruvous early on brought great fans and a wonderful following, but Wolff has managed to welcome all ages and types of people to his music. Life changed dramatically for Wolff when he narrowly escaped a near fatal illness in 2002. A sudden and massive infection took over his throat. It rapidly spread into his chest, head, and neck closing his throat. The surgeons were not sure if he would live let alone sing again. But after three and a half weeks, he was able to leave the hospital. The long road to recovery brought some dark times, but ultimately, the best writing he has done to date. He recently told the Harvard Gazette he has lost patience with songs that don't get to the point. "Life's too short to wait for the hook"These days, Wolff tries to enjoy every second of his life. His amazing new band recently finished a new album, co-produced by Neale Eckstein at Fox Run Studios. It was mixed by Ben Wisch (Marc Cohn, Jonatha Brooke) and mastered by Emily Lazar (David Bowie, Natalie Merchant). This submission ...
