VonnellBorn in Havana, Cuba the young singer/songwriter-or 'musical story teller' as some will call him-has been rising more and more with every passing day with each new song. Having grown up in a melting pot such as sunny Miami, Florida, from a young age he has been exposed to rich, diverse sounds ranging from jazz to pop to Cuban jazz, Brazilian, classical and more. With his debut album 31 de Febrero, in 2006, Vonnell, the multi-instrumentalist, multi-lingual artist was an American Idol Underground 1st place winner in the BIG PUSH WORLD category with the song Y despues... song which, as well as the breakthrough concept and catchy hit, Cara the Caramelo rose quickly to the top of California, New York, Puerto Rico and Italy's Record Pool. He also rocked the house in 2006's LA Music Awards winning Latin Male Vocalist of the Year with the first class ballad Noche Escondida, Latin Album of the year 31 de Febrero, Latin Artist of the Year and World category Artist of the Year . He received a nomination for Song of the Year for: Luna. He was part of Miami's Trova Libre's Hit Parade for Most Requested song of 2006 with Noche Escondida. He was part of Toronto Independent Music Awards and nomination Best USA song with Cara de Caramelo. On the other side of the Atlantic, he made his voice hear as well in Canary Islands International Song Contest, winning Honorary Nomination for Best original Romantic or Ballad song Noche Escondida, Best Male Singer, Best Original Pop, Rock or Latin Song Y despues..., Special Diploma Award for best Singer/Interpretation in Y despues...In 2007, Vonnell is quickly continuing to move along, still at the top of the charts in record pools throughout, in January and February. He recently finished producing Noche Escondida's house remix which will be launched. iThere is no doubt that Vonnell and his band are true talent that are here to stay. NEWS FLASH!!!Sounds Of The Holidays has won the 2006 Detroit Music Award for "Outstanding World Recording" presented by the Motor City Music Foundation.1. The First NoelThe First Noel dates back as early as the 13th century. It is of Cornish (county of England) origin. It was first published in a book called " Some Ancient Christmas Carols" from 1823 edited by William Sandys.It is done here as a Samba 2. Cantata 147 (Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring) One of the most popular of Bach's themes. Written for the closing chorus of the cantata in 1723, Bach arranged this original melody by Johann Schop with text by Martin Janus. Orchestrated here as a choro ensemble with 7-string guitar, 2 cavaquinhos, mandolin and pandero with the addtion of acoustic bass. The chorus was triple tracked with all the parts bowed in the bass thumb position. 3. A. ChanukaThe quintessential song for the festival of lights. It is featured in the 20th Century Fox 1959 movie version of "The Diary of Ann Frank" B. I Have A Little DredlWith lyrics by S.S. Grossman and music by Samuel E. Goldfarb, the dreydl is a game played during chanuka. A dreydl is a four-sided top with markings on each side. Playing dreydl symbolizes that throughout Chanukah one is to be constantly mindful and thankful of the incredible miracles God has done for them. This medley is done in bossa - nova style and because the melody of "Dreydl" outlines the tonic (home key) chord, the classic bossa chord progression of I, I6, I major 7 could be utilized. This harmonic movement is a particular favorite of the medley's arranger. 4. Happy Happy Kwanzaa Kwanzaa is a week-long holiday observance held from December 26 to January 1 honoring African-American heritage, primarily in the United States. A 10-stringed guitar known as a violao caipeira is the highlight of this tune done in an Afro-Brazilian style. 5. Carol Of The BellsAdapted from the choral work "Shchedryk" by Mykola Leontovych (1877-1921). It was first performed in December 1916 by students at Kiev University. Multi-tracked, all voices played by Rich on cavaquinho. 6. Winter WonderlandPlayed in a baiÄo style featuring a go - go bells and triangle. The melody is played on 7-string guitar. 7. We Three KingsBoth words and music were written in 1857 by Reverend John Henry Hopkins as part of a Christmas pageant for the General Theological Seminary in New York City. It first appeared in his "Carols, Hymns and Song" in 1863. Played here in an Afro-Samba style with the melody rendered in the style of a Bach Choral. 8. Let's get the basic facts out of the way first. We're The Irreverends, a 5-piece rock band out of Boston, MA. This is our self-released eponymously titled 4-song EP. Brian Brown (Bill Janovitz, Juliana Hatfield) formerly of the renowned Fort Apache Studios, recorded it to 2" 24-track analog and mixed to 24-bit digital at Analog Divide Studios in Allston, MA.
