Gordie Sampson is a musical whirlwind, perpetually creating - a brilliant writer, an innovative producer, and a dynamic performer.Gordie\'s musical genius is applauded by audiences and industry players alike. From his national debut in the early 90\'s to his presence today on the Nashville writing scene where international recording stars are discovering and recording his material including Faith Hill \"Paris\" , George Canyon \" My Name\", Keith Urban covering \"The Hard Way\" and \" You (or Somebody Like You\". But it was his role in writing Carrie Underwoodâs #1 Billboard hit âJesus Take The Wheelâ that paved the path to the 2006 Grammy Award for âBest Country Song of the Yearâ and the 2007 Juno Award for âSongwriter of the Yearâ. Gordie\'s second solo recording, titled Sunburn, is a remarkable masterpiece of skillfully crafted original songs infused with pop, folk and roots influences. From the weary truth of the title track, to the aching melancholy of Paris, this musical phenomenon has set the stage as one of Canadaâs best songwriters. The award-winning âSunburnâ garnered multiple nominations and five East Coast Music Awards and two of the songs from his recording went on to appear on superstar albums, with Faith Hillâs cover of âParisâ and Keith Urbanâs cover of âYou (Or Somebody Like You\".Sampson\'s certainly no stranger to the music scene. As a co-writer, guitarist and singer, Sampson played a key role in the Canadian Top 20 success of pop/rock band Realworld in the early 1990s. Gordie then shifted his attention to the more traditional music of his native Cape Breton Island and soon found himself working with the top traditional acts of the day. He continued to expand his horizons by working as musical director for stage and television productions and honing his skills in the studio. When \"Stones\" was released to rave reviews, Gordie earned a Juno nomination and half a dozen East Coast Music and Music Industry Association of Nova Scotia Awards. The second single, Sorry, would draw particular attention to Gordie as a songwriter, while touring with The Rankins introduced him to new audiences as a performer, and producing Natalie MacMaster\'s 1999 album \"In My Hands,\" earned Gordie a new level of respect and a pair of national music awards. $14.95 Many people think of smooth jazz as something that didn't start until the 1980s, but arguably, smooth jazz started around 1966-1968 with the overtly commercial, pop-drenched albums that guitarist Wes Montgomery recorded during the last few years of his life. Love it or hate it, Montgomery's more commercial output had a major impact on Peter White and many other guitarists who have contributed to smooth jazz (including George Benson, Lee Ritenour, Earl Klugh, Chuck Loeb, and Henry Johnson). ...

$11.59 Acoustic Alchemy has remained one of the most popular smooth-jazz ensembles around, as evidenced by their record sales and consistently high placement on the charts, and AMERICAN/ENGLISH will not disappoint long-time fans. In fact, this recording is something of a return to form for the group. While the adventurous direction taken on previous outings is still present here, the emphasis is on melodic interplay and guitar dialogues ...

Sunburn songs
$6.55 A rock and roll melting pot seasoned with blues, jazz, european classical, and traditional middle eastern sounds. Extended improvisations, driving odd-time rhythms, straight up hard rock, lyrical and inventive guitar lines, a wide array of moods from laid-back to in-your-face.NOTES ON THE SONGS The two brief MINUETS I copped from a book in the library in Vegas. The first one used to be in E major but I changed the key to E minor. SKINNY DIPPIN'is in 7 and I spent hours composing the drum fills and programming them into the Zoom eighth note by eighth note. Thereâs no âsolo,â just a lot of guitar layers and crazy drum lines. Chords for the chorus are just A7 and Dm.GREAT DAY FOR A BANK LOAN is some classic rock chords me and my friend Kelly threw together. My friend John recommended the Weeping Demon wah pedal from Ibanez. It rules. Best wah ever. You can set it so that when you lift your foot off it, it stops the wah wah action and goes back to normal sound. No more switching on and off! It gets used basically the whole way through this tune.STUDIO JAM started in Michelleâs momâs basement last year on an old Gibson J-45 acoustic that now resides here in my studio. We saw a great middle-eastern/mediterranean band in Scottsdale and so I merged it with this middle-eastern dance beat and jammed the heck out of it. People tend to like this one best. CONFERENCE OF THE BIRDS was written by David Holland who played bass with Miles Davis around the Bitches Brew period. His version is all fast and written for two horns. This is a slower darker version that starts off with a couple minutes of free lines around a D tonal center. Imagine if Fugazi played jazz. Thatâs what it sounds like to me. Itâs in 5 but thereâs an extra measure of 2 at the end of ...
