| | Sheb Schwae We Go Deal (With The System) 2 CD (2003)
Gettin' Filthy CD music
$6.69 Singer, drummer and songwriter Sheb Schwae has significant talent in all three areas; he writes fine (if not highly original) songs and is equally adept as a rhythm programmer and a traditional drummer. He also has a good singing voice, though it's not at its best when being pushed to its upper limits, as it unfortunately is on much of this, his third album. The record's lead track "It's Over," offers one of the more excruciating examples of his tendency to overstrain and sing flat, though he recovers nicely on the well-crafted and impressively sung "I Can Make You Dance." The soca-flavored "Down at the Beach" and the rocking "Dance Hall Style" are also very well done, but the soulful lovers rock ballad "Real Love" is excruciatingly out of tune. The album is also marred by too many frivolous interludes, one of which is a completely superfluous radio interview and five others of which are generally lackluster dub versions (though the dub mix of "I Can Make You Dance" is nicely engineered). There are some fine moments here, but overall, this album is something of a disappointment. ~ Rick Anderson
This humble artist began his career in performing as a singer at the age of thirteen at his junior high school talent show. The first introduction of his interest was inspired by steve wonder who lived around the block from Sheb Schwae in Detroit. He got the opportunity to meet Stevie through his younger brother named Tim, who he played with as a child. Tim would take Sheb Schwae downstairs to play and hear stevie experimenting with the many instruments in his home studio. His curiosity would soon drive him to ask tim to introduce him to stevie. Stevie soon took sheb schwae under his mentorship by encouraging him to play the drums in his studio; this in fact was the spark that led him to become a skilled and master drummer of r&b and most importantly reggae music. Sheb Schwae's first music recording session was with stevie, although it was a demo produced in his basement it served as a magical moment to hear the tape being played back and hearing his recorded voice with stevie wonder. According to Sheb, as small as the opportunity was it played the most significant influence in his drive to excel in the business.Growing up in Detroit exposed Sheb Schwae ...

| | Causion One Life To Live CD (2005)
Gettin' Filthy CD music
$15.89 A forceful and charismatic performer, singer/songwriter, musician Causion is charged with intense emotions. His deep social and conscious lyrics are filled with appealing messages that blend Reggae, soul and pop music. Born Gregory Colin Bailey in the beautiful twin-island nation of Antigua & Barbuda, Causion recalls âI knew from an early age that I wanted to be a professional artist. I grew up in a family of established musicians and I did not have to reach far for either support or inspiration.âCausionâs new album âOne Life To Liveâ, is definitely his best effort to date. It was self-produced with longtime collaborators Hopeton Lindo & Syl Gordon of 321 Strong Records and with the support of well known engineer Jason Sterling from JasFar Records. The final production is impeccable. Fully equipped with the reality lyrics that make him a true contender for the title of conscious artist, Causion enlightens the masses on tracks like âGang Warâ and âSlave Addictionâ. He shows us how to live a better life with âGive Jah The Powerâ. The album also includes the ballad-style âKeep Moving Onâ and Pop sounding tunes âFeel The Vibesâ and âHold On.â There are several combination cuts with the likes of Hopeton Lindo and Gentleman. This collection will certainly keep hope alive.Recently Causion delivered an awesome performance of the above songs at his album launch party at the Seminole Paradise Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood Florida. He went on to give repeat performances at Reggae Carifest, Randall's Island Park -New York, the Miami Reggae Festival at Bayfront Amphitheatre in downtown Miami and in Delaware at the Kiwanis' Reggae Festival. Antiguaâs Reggae Ambassador, Causion first enjoyed recording success in 1988 with âAfrican Girlâ, featuring British DJ Spider Don. From 1990, after taking up residency in New York City, he recorded four singles. Causionâs debut album, âTime Will Tell,â was released in ...
