| | Memorial Day Nobody's Hero CD Memorial Day Discography of CDs
Memorial Day is an Albuquerque 5 piece rock band that has been playing together for over four years. We have been called "The Classic Rock Revival Band" and this may be the best way to describe us. If anything, our music feeds all those that love the classic and modern rock scenes. This CD has been quite a project for us. Between recording it at our highschool's pro-grade studio and mixing and mastering at a local professional its been alot of work but a whole lot of fun. Our music is easy for almost anyone to relate to, (unless you dont like rock'n'roll). We take use of guitar solos, or even two at the same time, and raging drum fills. That is what you get when you listen to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Soundgarden, Nirvana, The Foo Fighters, A Perfect Circle, and Weezer. So, stop reading my bad writing and give it a listen!Thank you for supporting the project that has controlled our lives for the past few years. This project has inspired and opened up our minds to a whole new musical world. We hope you like it! | | Lita Ford Wicked Wonderland CD (2009) Bonus Tracks
Nobody's Hero
$14.19 Though former Runaways guitarist Lita Ford has been absent from the recording industry since 1997, she hasn't exactly been idle. After releasing Kiss Me Deadly, her final album after a string of them in the '80s and '90s, the music scene -- and the industry with it -- changed, and alternative ruled the airwaves. Ford got married to Jim Gillette, former vocalist with hair metal rockers Nitro, and started a family. In addition, she relocated to the Caribbean. Wicked Wonderland is uncharacteristic of the pop-metal she released a decade ago. It's an in-your-face metal record, but ultimately it's a very studied and calculated 21st century pop-metal record. It's an album with explicit sexual content, examining S&M, bondage, power exchanges, and all manner of kink and crave ...

| | Ted Nugent CD (1975) Remastered
Nobody's Hero
$6.75 Digitally remastered by Vic Anesini (Sony Music Studios, New York, New York).
Ted Nugent's self-titled 1975 debut solo release is a bold expression of gonzo guitarist's sound, image, and abundant attitude. Ted had what was essentially a touring band with Amboy Dukes bassist Rob Grange, fellow Michiganite Derek St. Holmes on vocals and guitar, and Cliff Davies on drums. During days off from the mega-road trip that preceded this album, the group recorded its first record. Co-produced by famed hard-rock/metal helmsman Tom Werman, "Stranglehold" has the impromptu jamming feel of a live show.
Like "Deuce" for Kiss, the first track of a first album can define an act. "Stranglehold" leads straight into the no-holds-barred "Stormtroopin'," where the riffs are non-stop. The boogieish "Hey Baby" shows why ...
| | Very Best Of Robbie Fulks CD (2000)
Nobody's Hero
$12.19 With his hot flatpicking, strong voice, extroverted showmanship, and barbed sense of humor, Fulks became a hero of the '90s alt-country underground. After a couple of albums for roots rock haven Bloodshot, Fulks made the leap to the majors for LET'S KILL SATURDAY NIGHT (not to be confused with the album of the same name by Fulks's talented pals the Five Chinese Brothers). After maverick Fulks's inevitable departure from said major, he gave Bloodshot the OK to fill the gaps in his discography with this collection of rarities (the album's title is typical of the musician's gallows humor).
It's a testament to Fulks's consistency as both writer and performer that nearly every song here stands ...

| | Gary Mcfarland Does The Sun Really Shine On The Moon/America CD (2005) (Import) United Kingdom
Nobody's Hero
$15.99 This two-fer CD gathers both 1968 albums by orchestral jazz composer and vibraphonist Gary McFarland, the instrumental concept album AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL (AN ACCOUNT OF ITS DISAPPEARANCE) and a collection of pop covers, DOES THE SUN REALLY SHINE ON THE MOON.
In 1968, Gary McFarland issued two brilliantly original albums -- America the Beautiful (An Account of Disappearance) and Does the Sun Really Shine on the Moon were recorded at the bookends of the year, as the United States was being torn apart by the Vietnam War, student protest, and the first real wave of large scale activist environmentalism. The former (recorded in three days in January) stands as an almost forgotten jazz-pop tone poem (with classical and serial overtones!) by a large scale orchestra that includes large brass, reed, and string sections and a jazz-rock band. Its six themes, with titles such as "80 Miles an Hour Through Beer Can Country," and "Suburbia: Two Poodles and a Plastic Jesus," range from elegiac meditations framed by strings to funky, tough soundscapes centered on pure groove, with big popping horns and an electric rhythm section that included Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, Chuck Rainey, Warren Bernhardt, and percussionist Warren Smith. Eric Gale's guitar playing has never sounded tougher and more wiry than it does here. Some of the other players include Joe Farrell, Randy Brecker, Snooky Young, and Jerome Richardson. It has a soundtrack feel to it, but the music is so adventurous and risky it would have overwhelmed any celluloid images attached to it. The latter recording, done in October, hosts a smaller band with many of the same members, though bassist Richard Davis is featured as well and organist Grady Tate, who was on-board for the date. Does the Sun Really Shine on the Moon focused more on the pop side of jazz with innovative, subtly textured, and even gorgeous arrangements. On "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," the flugelhorn work by Marvin Stamm in interplay with Richardson's soprano is remarkable. Sam Leigh Brown's guitar provides the base for that soprano on "Lady Jane" before McFarland's vibes come in and slip through the center; they're exotic yet utterly grounded in the melody. This is a light, airy record with enough sheer beauty and innovation to make it worth the purchase price of this two-fer. Combined with America the Beautiful, this is indispensable for any serious '60s music collection. ~ Thom Jurek

$16.45 Chrysanthemum. The music on this CD was created, composed, and written using an Apple Power Book G4, Finale software composition program by Coda Music, Digital Performer recording program by MOTU, and a Roland Fantom XR synthesizer module (no keyboard). The Finale program acts as a MIDI controller whereby the written score complete with dynamics is played through the synth module, recorded on Digital Performer, and burned to CD using a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-106D CD burner. The genre is electronic experimental music, loosely defined as computers and music. The Fantom XR has 1200 preset sounds, including most orchestral acoustic instruments. It also has the capacity for 800 original sampled sounds. Music on Chrysanthemum exceeds the performing range of many of the acoustic instruments named in the various ...
