| | Gov't Mule By A Thread CD (2009)
How Lucky Can You Get CD music
$12.29 BY A THREAD is Gov't Mule's first studio album since HIGH & MIGHTY was issued in 2006. Since that time, bassist Andy Hess has been replaced by Jorgen Carlsson, though Hess appears on two tracks at the end of the album. Carlsson's playing style is much more aggressive than Hess', and is therefore closer - in spirit anyway - to Gov't Mule's original bassist, the late Allen Woody, though he possesses an adventurous sense of time and is harmonically more colorful than either Woody or Hess. Carlsson and drummer Matt Abst are a solid match, since Abst is a drummer used to shifting time signatures and allowing the unexpected in while still driving a band. The band's keyboardist and rhythm guitarist, Danny Louis, is a shape-shifter, playing to whatever is needed in a given track. His manner of coloring sounds inside and around a particular tune's framework is a large part of what makes Gov't Mule's sound so fresh here - despite the fact that they don't ...

| | Potpourri Pastiche CD (2003)
How Lucky Can You Get CD music
$10.29 Unique in their own right, this female duo puts their music up front in the spotlight. Potpourri presents a challenge to their listeners to find the niche where they fit. Country? Rock? Pop? Folk? It's up to each music fan to decide. But no matter where you think Potpourri fits, there is no question that they bring a maturity and life quality to their music. There is a subtleness in their songs; the more you listen the more you'll find to delight in. It's hard to believe this much music is being put out by a duo.Where does Potpourri find the inspiration for its songs? From their debut album "Playing Out", the 6th track was written on a dare. Angel and Brenda sat down to write a happy, romp through the park type of song and wound up with "Without Her" -- nearly the complete opposite of their original goal. "Dreams" was written after a gentleman they knew broke down one evening mourning the loss of his life partner. And the 3rd track "www.AnythingBut.Calm" was a result of the inroads the internet has made in people's lives. Their 2nd CD "Pastiche" has "Woman on the Prowl", written after a *itch session about guys hitting on women in bars. Also on Pastiche is their first patriotic song "Red White & Blue", set to a disco beat that they laughingly call their 'tribute to marching bands everywhere'. Angel and Brenda both write about events, people and places that have made an impression on them. Events, people and places that most listeners will be able to identify ...

How Lucky Can You Get CD music
$15.85 Moira grew up in the revival of these incredible old songs. She writes new songs to join in, and her award-winning group, VOCO soothes and rocks out to both new and old.Shape-note singing bloomed in New England between 1790 and 1830. It was written by mostly itinerant, rural composers with driving rhythm, un-sentimental lyrics and the use of “fa so la” solfege (to teach sight-singing).This program won the support of a Meet The Composer “Creative Connections” grant. This EP is a fierce, fearless celebration of four voices raised together in a beautiful room. Banjo & cello lay down the groove and the still landscape for the weaving voices.moira smiley & VOCO tour the US, Canada and Europe.
