Jell is an original modern rock band from Victoria BC with a sound influenced by the Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Nirvana and even the Doors. Jell has developed a devoted following over the past three years headlining shows in Victoria, Nanaimo and Vancouver. In August 2005 Jell won the Coors Light Battle of the Bands at Jungle Nightclub. In October Jell became the Band of the Month on the major radio station 91.3 the Zone, featuring the single Stuck which was added to the play list and soon moved up to heavy rotation. In the last year Jell has toured across Canada twice, with shows in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary and opening for hair-metal legends L.A. Guns in Winnipeg. They also toured down the west coast playing at the famous Whisky-a-go-go in L.A. and with So-Cal punk pioneers D.I. in San Diego. Jell released their first album in 2004 and completed their new album, Stuck, in February 2005 recorded with award-winning producer Adam Sutherland (Armchair Cynics). Stuck features their own original material including the danceable Seems Like It Is, the rockin’ title song, Stuck, and the haunting Don’t Like the Rain which they are using for their first music video. The band formed in the early nineties, with Rob Willey on lead guitar and vocals, his brother Andy on rhythm guitar; Alex, their eldest brother on bass; and Evan James on drums. The three brothers and their schoolmate practiced after school in Evan’s parent’s basement in Victoria. Backed with Rob’s prolific song writing and virtuoso guitar playing, they have proven to be one of the tightest, most exciting live bands in the Northwest and bring the house down when Alex rocks the cello on stage. Stuck album
$14.45 After the dark and chilling themes of 2006's BLACK CADILLAC, which saw Rosanne Cash dealing with the deaths of her mother, Vivian Liberto, her father, Johnny Cash, and her stepmother, June Carter Cash -- all of whom passed within a two-year span -- one might assume that her next project would move into an even deeper level of bleakness, but with THE LIST, it's immediately clear that she has instead found a more measured place to stand. It's a lovely and redemptive outing that looks back to go forward. When Cash turned 18, her father, alarmed that his daughter only knew the songs that were getting played on the radio, gave her a list of what he considered 100 essential American songs; Cash kept that list, and now she's drawn on it for this wonderfully nuanced outing that brims with a kind of redemptive timelessness. THE LIST is a renewal and a testament to life, and it belongs to her father as much as it belongs to her, a beautiful restatement of her father's passions, only now, they've become his daughter's treasures, as well. It's an affirming story, but that's all it would be if Cash didn't sing her heart out here. The opener, a version of Jimmie Rodgers' "Miss the Mississippi and You," is full of comfortable grace and ...
| | Them Crooked Vultures CD (2009)
Stuck CD music
$11.19 Often, supergroups wind up dominated by one particular personality - think Eric Clapton in Derek & the Dominos, Jack White in the Raconteurs -- which makes the egalitarianism of Them Crooked Vultures all the more remarkable. Of course, when it comes down to it, it's a group of three natural-born collaborators: John Paul Jones, the old studio pro who gravitated toward provocative partners after Led Zeppelin's demise, teaming up with R.E.M. as easily as he did with avant-queen Diamanda Galas and nu-folkster Sara Watkins; Dave Grohl, who hopped into an empty drummer's chair ...

| | Muse The Resistance CD (2009)
Stuck album
$15.65 With its titanic guitar solos, symphonic suites, and multi-layered melodies, Muse's fifth album operates under the assumption that bigger is better. This is the very definition of a super-sized album, an album that takes its cues from Queen, its lyrics from science fiction novels, and its delivery from rock opera. It's also the first time that Muse has truly sounded like Muse, as few bands since Queen have so readily explored the intersection of bombast and extravagance. THE RESISTANCE is most certainly extravagant -- there are snatches of classical piano entwined throughout, not to mention bilingual lyrics, concert hall percussion, coronet solos, and song titles like "Exogenesis: Symphony, Pt. 2 (Cross-Pollination)" -- but it's also quite beautiful, capable of moving between prog rock choruses and excerpts from Chopin's "Nocturne in E Flat Major" within the same song. Presiding over the mix is frontman Matthew Bellamy, ...
| | Rolling Stones Let It Bleed CD (1969)
Stuck CD music
$14.19 The last Stones studio album of the '60s finds the band, for perhaps the first time, accurately reflecting the spirit of its age. The erstwhile bad boy outsiders of rock now found themselves firmly in the center of the social and political post-'68 whirlwind, and faced up to the challenge magnificently. The band's confident climb to its artistic peak was begun by BEGGAR'S BANQUET, but LET IT BLEED is a quantum leap even from that musical milestone.
The album's opener, "Gimme Shelter," with its insinuating guitar introduction, leads us decisively out of Flower Power and into a world where rape and murder are "just a shot away," and the Devil of BANQUET is very much alive and taking names. There's a nod to seminal influence Robert ...
| | Luke Band Bettis Baggage EP CD (2005)
Stuck music CDs
$6.69 Having only been together for a relatively short time, the Luke Bettis Band (LBB) humbly acknowledges that they have gotten off to an accelerated start. “Whatever formula we’ve been following seems to be working. Only time will tell what direction our music will go, however every opportunity we receive makes us more motivated to work harder,” says Luke Bettis. The “engine” driving their successful launch, however, follows a simple recipe of heartfelt songwriting, steadfast drive, and a grass-roots marketing campaign that has given their name distinction wherever they play. With a sound akin ...

$17.09 The Pan Dulce Steel Orchestra grew out of a dream...Inspired by playing in the 120-piece steelbands of Trinidad and Tobago, band directors Kate Lang, John Salazar, and Michael Skweir dreamed of recreating the joyful spirit of the "panyard" on California's North Coast.
