Philosophy of Shaolin The Shaolin/Sil Lum sect is a branch of the Buddhist school known as Ch'an the equivalent is Zen; the Shaolin-descended school of martial arts and philosophy. One further note of importance: It is the aspect of both Buddhism and Taoism that sets Ch'an apart as a distinct entity. Taoism There are primarily 2 sects of Taoism: the philosophical and religious sects, similar to the broad divisions seen in Buddhism. They both studied nature, but for different reasons. The philosophical Taoists, who saw the teachings of Tao as a guide for life that is essentially deity-independent, studied nature to look for harmony. The religious Taoists, who believed strongly in a pantheon of greater and lesser gods, studied it to look for ways to change the course of nature (alchemy), including to prolong life. This latter seems particularly difficult to understand because altering nature is moving against the flow. The philosophical school of Taoism has its roots in the fifth century B.C.E. writings ascribed to Lao Tzu, a buraucrat who spurned the world to find bliss. According to legend, he was recognized as he left the kingdom, where the border guard requested Lao Tzu write down the essence of his wisdom. The resulting book is known as the Tao Te Ching, or Book of the Way . In essence, the knowable universe is composed of opposite components, whether physical (hard/soft; dark/light), moral (good/bad), or biological (male/female), which may be classed as either YANG or YIN. When combined, existence is produced, and is manifest as TAO. Neither yin nor yang can exist independently. The symbol of Tao is the "fish symbol" within which are two small dots (yin in the yang section, yang in the yin section), and around which are a pair of arrows, symbolizing dynamic interaction. The arrows have often been removed in contemporary motifs, but were popularized again when used by Bruce Lee in his Jeet Kune Do emblem. The philosophical Taoists are largely atheistic, looking to nature for the secrets to harmony and bliss. As a result, Taoist martial artists mimicked animals in their quest for martial arts techniques. The Taoists had their own temples and had their own system of martial arts (Hsing-I, Pakua). Emphasis was on internal styles. T'ai Chi Ch'uan , often attributed to Taoism, had a slightly different origin. It was designed to be a martial art for soldiers. It is believed to be around 1200 years old. While both Taoists and Buddhists understood and studied the concepts of duality in nature, the Taoist was more focused on the differences of Yin and Yang, while the Buddhist was more interested in the state of dynamic harmony of the two . Taoist philosophy is concerned with the intrinsic nature of Yin-ness and Yang-ness, readily seen when studying Taoist medicine, for example. It is a Taoist stance to look at "Yin" versus "Yang" techniques, "Hard" versus "Soft" styles. Monkmon Songs | 1. | monkey man |

Hip-hop was Claw's constant companion, as he searched from county to city, state to state, seeking his golden brick road out of poverty. After traveling around the nation, working odd jobs and hustling to survive, Claw returned to Maryland with an idea. He would join up with his musically talented ...
| | Zeero The Lyrical Messiah The Messiah Is Tired CD (2006)
Monkmon CD music
$9.35 One of the most explosive lyricists to ever hit the hip-hop scene is making his presence felt all around the world. Zeero a.k.a. The Lyrical Messiah grew up in the Magic City known as Miami, Florida. A city which was, and still is known for its high crime rate, beautiful beaches, and multi-cultural atmosphere. Zeero legally named David Yisrael is the last of his parents nine children. He believed that his parents saved the best for last. Living in a large family in an undersized home was burdensome, but some how believed by him to be a blessing. He believed that being forced to live in a two-bed room house with eleven people, made their bond as a family much more difficult to break. Living in poverty trying to get riches was the everyday motto for his family, but the most important things embedded into the family were morality, respect and self control. As a young boy all he cared about was having fun and being at peace and harmony. His family did everything together and due to the family being so large, they really never had to go out and make any friends. Although there was not much wealth monetary wise, their family had plenty of love and spiritual wealth. His parents are two church going individuals who demand that their children respect God first and everything after. Living through the hard times and struggles of the past, Zeero finally understood what his parents were trying to instill in him spiritually. Zeero has been fighting the odds way before he was even born into the world. While his mom was pregnant, she was unexpectedly attacked by a mugger who forcefully pushed her to the ground and took what little money she had. , All she was worried about was her baby. All she could say during the incident was “God help me, please help me.” A few months later a healthy young baby boy was born. At the age of five months another life threatening situation occurred; the medication which wrongfully prescribed by his physician led to him being hospitalized. Unfortunately his parents were unaware of the legal rights that they had at the time, but most importantly David survived. At approximately six years old, David was fighting once again for his life as he fell into the ocean at a neighborhood park. He didn’t know how to swim but some how he found his way out. Till this day he believes God pulled him out of the water. One late night as David slept in a crowed home, the house caught on fire and everybody but David heard the screams, as everyone exited the burning home he was left behind until his mom, who was the first to rise remembered her son lying on the bed in the corner ...
| | Acme Rock Group Star CD (2001)
Monkmon music CDs
$14.19 Acme Rock Group was formed in 1996 by guitarist-singer-songwriter-producer Erik Rex in Philadelphia after his rock group The Brilliant Suns had disbanded.Acme\'s debut CD Star combines elements of early influential British guitar-based rock and roll bands like the Beatles, the Kinks, and the Who. Acme Rock Group has gotten many flattering comparisons to monster psyche-pop / guitar pop groups like Apples In Stereo, Rain Parade, The Lilys, The Orgone Box, Jellyfish, Brian Jonestown Massacre, and Big Star. Even Heroes-era Bowie, Buddy Holly, and The Everly Brothers have figured into their sound comparisons. Some of the unique features of Acme\'s sound are the variety of instruments used, expansive use of melody and harmony, progressive technological experimentation, and a growing inclusion of classical flourishes in the arrangements. Some of the new recordings follow in the style of Star while others open the door to completely different projects (soon to be named). The vision for ARG provides for the release of only three albums as in three acts. Acme Rock Group\'s name was coined in an effort to meld an anti-advertising ethic with the need to advertise the group and the Star CD. The original push included slogans which fully reflected the absurdity of releasing such a specialized CD into a world already overflowing with new music releases. \"Another CD for a Saturated Market\" was the ad campaign slogan. Acme Rock Group has recorded 16 tasty pop songs in a high-fidelity environment and released 10 of them to the general public for their listening pleasure. The unreleased tracks will see the light of day, but weren\'t fully realized at the time Star was mixed and mastered. Some of those tracks may appear on the new album or EP. Acme isn\'t a retro band, though they\'ve made a distinctive retro album. Star was recorded under the premise that this freshman recording effort could have been released in 1967 to directly compete with some of the greatest rock and roll acts of the mid-60\'s, another concept album if you will. All instruments, recording technologies, social constraints, etc. of that era ...
