| | Ari Shine Age/Occupation CD Ari Shine Discography of CDs
First song on his EP is about selling out to music and movie moguls in Los Angeles, but its riffs and/or hooks can be traced back to the Raspberries and Mott the Hoople. -Village Voice

On Age/Occupation (Meticulous), Ari Shine plays sunny songs spiked with punk (the Elvis Costello wing of it) and power pop. -Time Out NYC
"Age/Occupation" is a big hooky event with pulsing guitars, armies of vocal harmonies and pumping rhythms. It`s filled with gonzo driving guitars that knife up the hook levels to maximum and just does not stop, with the end of the mini-CD leaving you excited for a bright future for Ari Shine. -Not Lame

!a warm and friendly radio mix, but the guitars still crunch and howl. -Rhapsody

Simply put: he's added an integral chapter to the book of modern pop rock. Listen with a fine-tuned ear, and you'll agree. Age/Occupation album
$11.18 With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Mercifully, he came in second to Kris Allen, for if he came in first he may have had to tame his self-styled glamazon ways. A second place finish allowed Lambert to come out of the closet and indulge in his penchant for theater on his debut, For Your Entertainment -- which isn't quite the same thing as camp, for if Adam Lambert is anything, he's earnest about his dress-up, never winking at the audience because he doesn't think there's much funny about his glitter and mascara: that's just what pop stars are supposed to do. He's learned that by listening to his stacks of Queen and Bowie records, from watching old MTV videos on YouTube, from living in a present that always competes with the ever-present past, so he takes it all at face value, mixing up arena rock guitars, new wave, disco, operatic overdubs with a constant electro pulse, glassy ...

| | Peach Truck Republic Fenceposts CD
Age/Occupation songs
$29.05 Fenceposts, the two-disc concept album from the Texas jam band the Peach Truck Republic, sprawls across nearly three hours of music that ranges from classic rock to bluegrass and mellow folk. The sound rarely varies too far from the bright and upbeat sound the band has derived for themselves. The instrumental development is too flat for the music to develop an engaging narrative, songs eventually blending together into lush folk-rock mush. The band's vocals and playing tend to be spot-on, though a little over-emotive in places. Of note are the instrumental bridges and segues the band uses in between tracks (such as "Greenhill" on disc one). Heavily influenced by the Allman Brothers Band, these pieces -- taken by themselves -- are compelling, though tend to lose their impact in the wobbly arc of the album. ~ Jesse Jarnow
"...blues, complex, literate lyrical themes, rock and country all meet head on as they go from acoustic rural blues to lengthy improvisation. It's rugged but real and it's got texture and soul." Beyond the VergeRelix Magazine "Rock and roll never felt so good or seemed so different as when you listen to the music of the Peach Truck Republic." --Mandy SmithThe NTCC Eagle "These guys are good, and they know it. They play around with it, pick at it, it bleeds.""If ever you hear a quote from a rock group claiming to be a 'family', listen to The Peach Truck first, and get a Real idea of what a family would sound like if they all played together."It's like watching a train load of hillbillies spirit their machine on the tracks, and you ain't eager for no caboose."--Ben Ohmart Music Dish "The Peach Truck Republic is a folk rock based group of superior musicians and songwriters. This two CD set is packed full of excellent music and song. The lyrics are exceptional and incomparable to anything else I've heard.""There is also a heavy blues influence to this music, which gives it that added flavoring. PTR has a definite classic rock thing going for them and a wealth of talent that allows them to pack a sound full of amazing musical beauty. I was more impressed by the musical ability of this band than anything.""Their music may not be fit for mainstream radio, but anyone who loves real music with heart, soul and feeling will love this band. Highly recommended to the more sophisticated rock music crowd. Plus, there's enough music on this 2 CD set to keep you happy for a long time."--Michael Allison The Global Muse "Their sound is basic jam-band but they use a lot of acoustic instruments. Lots of little instrumentals mixed in...I'm not quite sure what the whole thing's about."--Bill FraterFreight Train Boogie "... the Republic rambles through an entire catalog of stylistic conventions, from country to jazz and all points in between, taking up what's useful or necessary, discarding what isn't, and, all the while, rarely losing sight of its blues-based foundations.""...wreathed in the oily smoke of a thousand bong hits. It has the odd stylish appeal of a banana-seated Schwinn, both of its time and outside of it."--Colin MaycockFort Worth Weekly "To call them a jam band would be remiss, ...
