| | Day After Hell Broke Loose CD (2004)
Doc Grip music CDs
$14.29 The Day After Hell Broke Loose is a collective affair, bringing together the beats of producer Bigg Tyme and the raps of the Rap-a-Lot stable circa 2004. Neither Bigg Tyme nor the Rap-a-Lot rappers represented here are particularly well known outside of their region, which is that of Houston. Nonetheless, they no doubt warrant some merit for their efforts here, which are quite various yet thematically consistent. Bigg Tyme produces every track here, 14 of them in total (though a few are skits), and most nonskits are collabos including such rappers as Slim Thug, Mike Jones, Chamillionaire, Dolla aka da'Costa, and Z-Ro. A few big names do grace the album, namely Scarface, Lil' Flip, Bun B, and Devin the Dude, but they do so only passingly, as if their raps had been drawn from Rap-a-Lot's archive. While Bigg Tyme is no Dr. Dre, the end result of his copresentation is a sort of Houston-style Chronic, albeit one that isn't quite as well developed or thought out. Granted, comparing The Day After Hell Broke Loose to The Chronic may do both a disservice, but the touchstone is helpful, and if indeed the ...

| | T Solomon Ah Star Is Being Born / EP CD (2006)
Doc Grip album
$10.25 Hi, my name is T. Solomon and I would like to give you a short bio on this E.P. that is a here for you to listen to or purchase. Every song is an extended mix from the L.P. versions that will be arriving SOON. (SO GET THEM NOW WHILE THERE LONG). The L.P. versions WILL BE CUT. First, I would like for you to know that I have been producing music since 1989. First starting with, E-legal Records in N.Y.C., then moving on to labels like Down-Town 161, Bottom Line Records, A.C.V. Records out of Italy, Partners Inc. out of the U.K., Shelter Records NYC, & finally starting my own HOUSE Label called 50/50 RECORDS, were you got tracks like "DUM- DUM", "A DAY IN MAY", & "I GOT U" (50/50RECORDS). I've had People like Big Moses from DML Recordings out of East Orange N.J. co-produce with me. I've had people like Lenny Fontana signed to my label. Frank Taravonte who did the hot track, "Join Hands" on Big Beat Records. Also, I'll be putting out a remix of 'Who Needs Your Love', performed by Tony Moss and remixed by Frank Taravonte in 2006. Tony Moss was another Artist that was signed to my Label (50/50 RECORDS). Taana Gardner, the girl who gave us Heart Beat, When You Touch Me, Work Your Body, & so many, many others is another Artist I produce and is currently featured on "SHAME ON YOU" which will be fully released in 2006...I've been singing every since I was a child in Newark, N. J. but didn't get real about it until I did "AH STAR IS BEING BORN". This is a Soulful song that I wrote to share some of the process of what was for me and so many others like me, a period self discovery. "DON'T GIVE UP" is a Soul-Funk song that speaks for itself. But more importantly I wanted to encourage my community of people to "keep it movin". "SHAME ON YOU" is a Jazzy-HOUSE/CLUB/ELECTRONIC track that I wrote to attempt to bring some awareness and consciousness of the AIDS PANDEMIC in South Africa and AIDS EPADEMIC in America to the ears of the people who are forgotten about in this country, the POOR. "RIDE THE BASS" is a Hot Uro-Soul Up-Tempo Dancers song that I did shortly after I got my Fender Bass. I never took one SINGLE bass lesson, I just started playing and TWO weeks later it was DONE. "WHAT" is a HOUSE/CLUB/ELECTRONIC track that I did to musically portray the differences between a WOMAN & MAN and how they may express themselves differently but still be in HARMONY. All these songs and so many others to come can be listened to or purchased. I'm hoping that you will take the time with each song and give them a good listening to. The music is from you and ...
| | Martie Bicardii 151 After Party CD (2004)
Doc Grip CD music
$7.99 In an industry where the quality of an artist's product comes second to his image, its little wonder today's underground rap scene is infested with the overwhelmingly average. That is unless you consider the efforts of Bay Area phenomenon David Anthony Martin Jr., better known throughout California as wordsmith Martie Bacardii. With a down-to-business approach to lyrical eloquence, Martie has cemented himself on the tip of underground rap's tongue by putting a voice to the struggles of growing up quickly in the suburbs. Martie began writing lyrics at the age of fourteen, when Das EFX were getting with this or that and Mac Dre was still too hard for the radio. In these early years Martie began forging the lyrical style that would guide him through a tumultuous journey from the streets of Antioch, Ca. , to the cutting edge of underground rap. Emotionally self-reliant at a young age, Martie realized he had in him a seemingly endless supply of words with which to shout back at his world. Martie's heart-felt and easily relatable lyrics fostered a considerable degree of notoriety in his local area, attracting the attention of vanguard underground producer Sideways. An accomplished rapper in his own rite, Sideways immediately recognized the potential of Martie's true-to-life lyrical style and decided to feature him on a track called "Sloppyways," to be released on Sideways' next album. When the album hit the streets, so did Martie, selling countless copies with his wits and bare hands. Though he had only contributed a single verse to a single song, Martie peddled the album tirelessly with the same tenacity he had displayed in the studio. It was Martie's undeniable drive that most impressed Sideways, who subsequently brought Martie under his wing and into the fold at Livewire Entertainment, his independent production label. What followed was "The Last Call," Martie's first solo album, which launched a flurry of concert dates from northern California to Mexico. Over the next few years, fans hungrily awaited the follow-up album as Martie set his mind to his music and his body to its lifestyle. Living like the underground rap sensation he was quickly becoming, Martie eventually realized he had reached a Crossroads. He swore off the marijuana that had written half his current project and re-addressed his music with the unclouded ambition that his talent deserved. The result was a double album called "The After Party" on which Martie holds a microscope to the underbelly of suburban life and provides anthems for those who live it. For Martie, "The After Party" is the realization of two years worth of blood, sweat and lyrics and ...

| | Jackson Rohm Sink Or Swim CD (2002)
Doc Grip CD music
$13.89 Jackson Rohm's career in music began with an unlikely debut as the singer/guitarist of a metal band at his middle school dance in Jamestown, NY. Though his taste in music changed over the years, he remained focused on developing as a musician and performer. Throughout high school and into college, he grew more and more passionate about becoming a professional recording artist. It was not until his senior year of college at Miami University in Ohio, after he had built a huge following at his weekly acoustic shows at a local college hangout, that he realized that his dream of a life as a singer/songwriter was within his reach. After a half-hearted semester of law school, he took a leave of absence and dove in head first, becoming a full time musician. He quickly realized that he could never turn back. He immediately headed for the Southeast where he focused on songwriting and developing a dynamic stage presence. With an aggressive touring schedule from Georgia and the Carolinas to the Midwest and back home to Western New York, Jackson's nomadic lifestyle has spawned a catalog of songs that he has recorded on his three full length albums, Twisted and Misguided, Sink or Swim, and Red Light Fever. Remarkably, he completed all three albums in less than three years and financed them with money earned from his live shows and previous CD sales. On the July, 2003 release, Red Light Fever, Jackson collaborated with producer, Steve Jacula in Chicago to record the 13 track, acoustic-based pop/rock compilation, loaded with hook-driven songs, including a cover of Concrete Blonde's 1990 hit, Joey. Influences such as Gin Blossoms, Barenaked Ladies, Counting Crows, Pete Yorn, and The Wallflowers ring clear in Jackson's music. Of his work, Rohm asserts, "As a young songwriter I embraced the role of a storyteller, taking situations and encounters I'd have in my travels and translating them into lyrics that others could relate to in their own lives. However, over time, I've found myself drawing more and more from my personal life. I've always been very critical of the words to my songs and strive to communicate exactly what I'm feeling at the time in a way that is clear to my audience, but uniquely different as well. Often, that involves exposing myself more than I would ...
