Award-winning composer Karen Dalton's first release, Songs for Hire, is a blend of bluegrass and folk. Performed by Kevin Neidig of Voxology, Songs for Hire highlights Karen's skill as a songwriter and shows why Marshall Deasy, owner of Stress Free Studios, says,"Karen's sincere, well-written songs will certainly turn ears in today's acoustic must scene."Two songs from Songs for Hire have been played on WXPN-Philadelphia. The first song on the CD, "I've Been to Paris," has been played on Gene Shay's folk show. "Milky Way" was played on Sleepy Hollow, hosted by Chuck Elliot. Mr. Elliot played "I've Been to Paris" when he sat in for Mr. Shay. Karen has been awarded a grant in music composition from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, has been named a winner of the Heady Robinson Award for achievement in the field of music theory by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and is endorsed by Breezy Ridge Instruments, makers of John Pearse strings and accessories. Selections from Songs for Hire have been played on college radio and on Internet radio. | | Christian Housel Reflections CD (2004)
Songs For Hire music CDs
$16.45 Christian Housel, a native of Northern California, now makes his home near Boise, the capital city of Idaho. Christian began playing the piano at a young age and never looked back. Through his youth, Christian studied both classical and popular music. In and out of lessons, Christian began experimenting with composition at an early age. While at the university, Christian studied classical piano and developed his own unique style of playing and writing. In his early twenties Christian became a working piano player, sitting in with different rock and gospel groups, doing solo work in clubs, restaurants, spas, malls, and churches. In the late nineties, Christian began playing gospel, jazz fusion, and rock along with his solo piano work. He continues to compose instrumental and vocal music and has even broken into the business with the recent licensing of his first vocal tune to the well-known gospel group who records out of Nashville. Still, the composer inside called and Christian began composing solo piano for musical recordings in 2000. He has always believed he had something more to say with his solo piano musicâ€"its simplicity and passion are clear to the listener. Christian was introduced to the music of David Lanz in the early 90's and immediately became consumed with the beauty and simplicity of this 'New Age' music. To date Christian has recorded two independent recordings: 'Reflections' in 2002 and 'After the Rain' in 2005. Christian has had many influences on the piano: David Lanz, Dave Grusin, Jim Brickman, George Winston, and Andre Crouch just to name a few. As a solo piano artist, Christian enjoys the small venue that communicates intimacy and creates community. 'Please come into my private little world of beauty where the piano becomes a singular voice of passion' he often says as he begins a concert. Christian enjoys and is grateful for those who come to hear his performances. Through is music, his message of hope and purpose can be heard. 'Music can change the heart; it can change the mind'. Each of Christian's songs have a story behind them and he often shares these before he performs ...

$14.79 "....(Forehand) could write a song about the phone book and make it interesting." Performing Songwriter Magazine*** Kerrville New Folk Winner ***Kim J. Forehand knows how to craft a song: she's creative, she's musical, and she likes to obsess for days over a single line or phrase until it comes together just right. Many of her songs are funny. Some are serious. Most are serious and funny at the same time, like everyday life -- both tragic and comic and everywhere in between. She paints pictures with her songs. She tells stories. She laughs and cries and struggles and forgets. Mostly, she yearns to capture a moment, an emotion, or a situation just as it was, with precision, honesty, insight, and humor. She's been ...
| | Spindles The Enclosed I.P.O. CD (2008)
Songs For Hire music CDs
$16.45 "Hmmmm..." Post-Americana sensations, The Spindles, were formed in 2002 by two brothers in Vancouver, British Columbia. Anthony and James Shepherd were sons of the famed husband and wife folk duo The Leaflets, but at an early age, made a swift departure from their parents politically charged a-cappella pop. Under the name of The Lost Sheep Shepard Brothers, Anthony and James began touring the coffee house circuit in British Columbia and Alberta, quickly gaining a loyal following and critical acclaim. "Oh My!" The brothers eventually garnered the attention of London guitarist Henry Nagle, whom they hired to do session work for their freshman release "The Lost Sheep Shepherd Brothers: Of Birds and Stones". They promptly asked Henry to join the band (which he would, but only after a terse salary negotiation) and moved down to Northern California, where they would rename the band "The Spindles" after a popular British roller-coaster. "Holy Smokes!" The three piece was almost immediately offered three nights a week at a popular brew house, where they would eventually run into long time friend and Canadian drummer Jonathan ...
