| | Piyali Unborn Star CD Piyali Discography of CDs
Piyali, was born, raised and educated in India. Her very first memories of listening to a piece of music came from the voice of her mother, Krishna Chakraborty, who is an exponent of Hindustani Classical music. The music that flowed from her mother's voice, was the beginning of Piyali's musical journey, that shaped her vocal chords into the rich, lush and sweet voice, with which she sings today. She writes and sings her songs based on her incredible experiences beginning in India, continuing in Japan and now in the USA. Observation and an ever growing and expanding thinkng mind, give her Spirit-guided compositions a unique ethereal yet worldly charm. "Unborn Star", Which was judged and awarded as a finalist in the "Best Vocal Album of 1999" category by New Age Voice, and which also reached #2 for two consequetive months in the year 1999 in the NAV charts, is Piyali's first self-composed album in the United States. It was recorded and mixed at Studio Crash, Philadelphia, by the talented veteran jazz keybordist, Dave Falciani. The album contains seven beautifully composed songs, all written and sung by Piyali. This new, hugely talented vocalist, can easily carry the listener to a higher dimension with her powerful, yet sweet and ethereal voice. Each of the seven songs are as different from one another as night is from day, yet all of them are in alignment with their heartfelt messages of peace, passion and betterment. Each song is complete in itself in that each one has a story to tell. It is very visual. Her sound is unique with shades of Indian melodies in structured western compositions, with touches of Jazz, as well as other ethnic sounds. Her singing style is her own, very fresh and quite different from the usual popular voices. Her CD has recieved extensive airplay, in about 150 or more non-commercial radio stations, across the States, Canada and Europe. As Ben Kettlewell, Editor of Alternate Music Press puts it, " Piyali is a silky sounding chaneuse, a soulful songbird, a passionate new contemporary singer. She soars into the international recording scene with a stylish, self-assured singing style, high quality original compositions, great backing musicians and a well produced debut album. Appropriately titled, Unborn Star, features a smooth blend of musical touches that include world, pop, funk and R&B elements". Ben Kettlewell goes on to add, "The message I get from Piyali's music, is going for what you want in your life, following your true path, doing what makes you whole, which in her case, is her incredible journey to this point."Pascual Jurado, of Amazing Sounds, says of Piyali's music, " Piyali is a brilliant composer and singer. She sings a collection of seven compositions that could be labelled as avant-garde Pop. Her beautiful voice, the atmospheric keyboards, the Hindu drums and the inspired lyrics are the elements that shape the personality of the music and enhance it's potential to lead the listeners to meditate about the utopic hope to someday attain a better world full of love, peace and harmony. This is warm music. Music near to the heart and feeling."According to Richard Fuller, Senior Editor of Metaphysical Reviews, "Unborn Star, is not just a new album, it is a recipe for insight, meditation and transformation. | | Shelley Carrol A Distant Star CD (2003)
Unborn Star music CDs
$14.79 Saxophonist, Shelley Carrol hails from family of gospel singers and musicians in Houston, Texas. It was there that the music bug bit him at an early age and landed him in the famed Boys Choir of Houston. After picking up the saxophone, he was able to study with the legendary Texas Tenor greats Arnett Cobb and Don Wilkerson. At the time he didn't know how revered these gentlemen were around the globe. They simply lived in his neighborhood. Shelley attended the city's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and was a standout in the city's Summer Jazz Workshop Program. This is where he developed a true flair for the stage. While attending the University of North Texas, Shelley earned a spot in the Grammy Nominated One O'clock Lab Band. There he recorded two critically acclaimed CD's in 1990 - 91. During the same period, Mr. Carrol was invited to join the Duke Ellington Orchestra by trumpeter Barry Lee Hall. This would prove to be an enormous musical opportunity with worldwide exposure. Since joining the band, he has toured the U.S. and over 30 foreign countries. He has also recorded and or performed with Maureen McGovern, ...
| | Carl Burnett Life Before Midi CD (2003)
Unborn Star songs
$15.19 A great guitarist who flourishes without the fuel driven by ego is a rarity, but Carl Burnett is one such player. Carl manages to be on everyone's A-list without the attitude that generally accompanies that realm. A guitarist with a dizzying list of credits who has played and recorded with the likes of Branford Marsalis, David Sanborn, Robben Ford, Hiroshima and the late George Howard and has appeared on the Tonight Show, David Letterman, and The Grammy Awards. Carl's resume reads like a "Who's Who" in the music industry, but you won't hear him bragging about itFew guitarists can be described as "Zen-like" and "Hendrixian" in the same sentence, but that's exactly the complexity that defines Carl Burnett. He readily transcends the instrument into a realm of pure worship defining the experience moment to moment, string to string. A musician who can make the leap from a burning jazz/rock solo to an unfettered funk rhythm groove; Burnett's playing leapfrogs musical styles. Yet Burnett's true advantage over other players is his ability to listen. The ...
| | Steve Jenkins Mad Science CD (2004)
Unborn Star album
$17.75 Recent NYC transplant Steve Jenkins has been involved with music since the age of three. One day, he found a way to climb up to the piano in his parents' house and thus a relationship between the young Jenkins and the making of musical sounds began. After studying piano, trumpet, and dabbling on guitar for a while, Steve soon found his instrument (or perhaps it found him) when he discovered the electric bass at age 13. His logic for wanting to play bass was simple; he just couldn't decide between the drums or guitar. This partially explains where his eclectic, versatile approach to the instrument comes from. In the fall of 2004, Steve Jenkins released his first solo album "mad science". It features David Fiuczynski(screaming headless torsos), Adam Deitch(John Scofield Band), Jeff Bhasker, ...
