Released without the usual flurry of hype, Before I Self Destruct fulfills 50 Cent's contractual obligation to the Interscope label. It also doubles as a throwback album, returning the rapper to the hunger and hatred of his early mixtapes while skillfully recasting him as a wannabe upstart. That is, for the most part. The four radio-friendly bedroom numbers that conclude the album are out of place but fairly good to dime-piece beautiful, with the best being the Ne-Yo showcase "Baby by Me" ("Have a baby by me, baby/Be a millionaire"). As pleasing as these final numbers are, if you leave the room after the macho bruiser "I Got Swag" ("I'm infinitely special/Girl the Lord is gonna bless you/If you do what I tell you to do"), you'll return to a confusingly different album, one that's as glamorous but less vital. The monstrous run of tracks that leads up to this flash and polish can be summed up by 50's "This ain't Tha Carter/It's Sparta!," a witty, deceptive, and brutish line barked over a prime Dr. Dre beat during the great "Death to My Enemies." J.D. Cash is one of the most talented and enduring male vocalists in the southeastern United States.He is best known for his classic #1 Beach & Shag hit, "Theme From A Summer Place" which displays his smooth & soulful sexy style at its best. J.D. Cash began his career in 1965 singing "Beach Music" and "Rhythm and Blues" along the beaches of the Carolinas. J.D. achieved national attention in 1976 with "Since I Don't Have You" for GRT Records. Todd Woodward has been immersed in music since he was a kid and he's loved every second of it. It all began with his lip-synched performances of old-soul classics, which was fun for a while, until he discovered his voice. At the age of thirteen, he was writing and performing songs. In 1992, Marc Friedman (of the Slip) asked Woodward to join his group, Gaylen Groove, and so, at fifteen, Woodward was in his first gigging band. They played in and around Southeastern Massachusetts for a couple of years until graduation, then it was on to college. Woodward moved to Boulder, Colorado where he formed Ordinary K, whose sound struck a chord with a mix of music lover's from jamband to hip-hop fans. In their sophomore year, Ordinary K was headlining the legendary Fox Theater. Within five year's OK had toured nationally, opening for Jimmy Cliff, Rahzel (of the Roots), Blackalicious, Doug E.
