Welcome to Erica Smith's debut studio album. On it she sings traditional songs, songs by her favorite songwriters (Greg Brown, Robert Burns, Rebecca Hall, Lal Waterson, Gillian Welch), and one mellow blues she wrote herself. With shimmering vocals and spare, graceful arrangements, Erica's album reminds many people of their favorite albums from the folk revival of the nineteen-fifties and sixties. Guests on this album include bluegrass virtuoso Orrin Star, alt folk-country songstress Rebecca Hall together with Ken Anderson, classical violinist Rachael Birkin, and Alison Kelley of the Johnson Girls and The NexTradition. Alison Kelley takes the lead on track 5, the gospel-blues song "No More, My Lord." In late 2002 Erica released a follow-up album, FRIEND OR FOE, featuring a crop of self-written pop, soul, and twang tunes alongside the traditional songs for which Erica is best known. The second Glee soundtrack throws a bone to the show's supporting characters, with Jenna Ushkowitz (the faux-stuttering Tina) singing her first solo and Amber Riley (Mercedes) receiving a larger chunk of airtime. He has been recognized for his work as a singer/songwriter, composer and producer, nineteen albums bearing his name; a high profile Juno Award early in his career; three subsequent Juno nominations and music credits including a Gemini nomination; film and television soundtracks and scoring; talent discovery and record production for numerous artists from Jane Siberry to Colleen Peterson. He has toured extensively and is a veteran of many coffeehouses, concert halls and folk festivals.David Bradstreet's newest acoustic release, "Lifelines", released March 3, 2006, was recorded live-off-the-floor (vocal, guitars and bass) in three days, January 26 - 28, 2006 at Ray Montford's Soundhole Studio in Toronto, Canada with Jason Fowler and David Woodhead. Only some guitar overdubs and background vocals were added. As well as his own original compositions, this release includes songs that he has co-written with Robert Priest, Rob Lamothe and Jason Fowler. "Such a Fool", a song by Billie Hughes, is also included. Born in London, England, David came to Canada as a child with his parents; after college where he studied architecture, he worked the college circuit in the U.S. visiting most states as a solo performer and achieving rising star status in Canada on the folk club trail in the early '70s. This period was marked by: early sessions in Bob and Danny Lanois' mother's basement; a two pivotal years in New York City with Peter Yarrow and Phil Ramone including a duo with Mimi Farina; teaming up with Lazarus and Albert Grossman in Woodstock NY and touring with Todd Rundgren; having one of his songs, "Renaissance", become a folk standard - followed by the Juno for Best New Male Vocalist 1977. The late '70s phase of David's career, which included two high profile albums on A&M, 'David Bradstreet' and 'Dreaming in Colour', was one of major tours and high profile concert and broadcast appearances.
