Best Of Teejay Michael album
$18.99 Here is a collection of tunes designed to spin acoustically, with low production and executed in real-time. I have my own recording studio and along with this comes the possibility of creating multi-layered music sounding a bit larger than life. I love this setup but for a change I felt inspired to make a recording of music that captures the way we sound when we play live. I've enlisted my favorite players and we brought our long list of experiences both musical and humanistic into the studio. In the span of two days we documented this experience into the digital realm. And now, Taking It All In is complete and it joins the family of jazz CD's that I've created over the years. The early recordings (Dance Of The Universe, The Path, Bird Raga, Message Sent On The Wind, Musica Del Mar, and Na Pali Coast) set the stage and mapped out the roots, and now Taking It All In sheds the light of the new millennium onto my view of an acoustic ...

| | Meghan Cary New Shoes CD (2001)
Best Of Teejay Michael music CDs
$13.69 Inspired by events in her own life, Meghan Cary's debut solo EP, New Shoes, is an extremely personal folk-rock effort. The singer/songwriter dedicated this 1998 release to guitarist Matthew Black, who she was planning to marry when, in 1995, heart failure claimed his young life. Poignant songs like "Old Man Winter" and the title track were written in Black's memory and, not surprisingly, parts of the EP deal with feelings of sadness and loss. But overall, New Shoes isn't depressing, maudlin, or morbid -- if anything, it's inspiring because Cary indicates that she is finding the courage and strength to carry on despite losing the love of her life. Cary expresses her sadness and heartbreak but gives the impression that she isn't defeated; New Shoes deals with pain and loss, but it's also about moving forward in spite of those things. While New Shoes is full of moving lyrics, one could appreciate the EP even if he/she didn't speak a word of English. That's because New Shoes is as solid musically and vocally as it is lyrically; an expressive vocalist, Cary fares well with a style of folk-rock that is indebted to 10,000 Maniacs and the Indigo Girls. One hears a lot of Natalie Merchant in Cary's phrasing, and yet Cary is definitely her own person. Although 10,000 Maniacs and the Indigo Girls are major influences, Cary doesn't go out of her way to emulate them. This is, without question, a promising debut. ~ Alex Henderson
Meghan Cary is the teller of many stories, and the most beautiful of them all is her own. The New York City based singer/songwriter has steadily won over the hearts of audiences from NYC to Austin, TX with her thoughtful, introspective musical tapestries, beautifully woven with sentiments of life, love and loss. Cary's music is sometimes sorrowful, often silly, but her compositions, spun in a fresh well-crafted blend of pop, rock, folk and country, are bound by a single thread - they're all undeniably honest. For her part, Cary is all too familiar with the often-harsh realities of this world. She began making music in 1993 with Matthew Black, a man she met while performing a play in Maryland. The two played gigs throughout the northeast - Matthew on an old Martin guitar, Meghan singing the harmonies with an occasional lead. they also fell in ...

$12.65 Mannyman ---------The Electronic Music Artist> Our artist was born in January 15th,1961 in Havana, Cuba. He began his interest in music in his mid-teens. His first performance was before a live audience back in 1978 while still in High School in Chicago, IL. It was the High School's First Annual Talent Show where he performed live on stage the song "Teddy Bear" by Elvis Presley. After receiving a standing ovation for his performance, "The bug", as they call it in music business began in his life. In 1979 he moved to Miami, Florida where he pursued the entertainment industry but ran into a few hard walls and was forced to put his music talents aside. In 1981 he decided to try his luck at an acting career so he enrolled in Miami-Dade Community College and began to study acting with the "New World Center Stage Players". He performed in such plays as "The Young Veterans", "Portrait of a Madonna" and the musical "See Saw". He also had some small parts in such movies as "Absence of Malice" and "Blood Money". He later worked with Philip Burton a teacher, writer and actor on the production "An Interpretation of MacBeth", performing the sound effects, which was a complete success. In 1982 he moved to Houston, Texas where he wrote most of his musical lyrics, poetry and short stories. In 1992 Mannyman recorded his first single "Forever". It was released on Hollywood Artist Record Label and was performed by Stephanie Allen. The single did quite well and the royalty checks began to roll in. Then sales began to slow down and he found himself in debt. He returned to work on regular low paying jobs, mostly warehouse work and delivering of goods. His music career was once again taking the backseat. In the Winter of 1994 he enrolled in the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale with interest in Music and in the Visual Arts. He began his classes in The Music and Video Business program offered by the college. In June of 1994 he won an award for Best Electronic Recording for one of his singles named "Men at work". It was an experimental piece but an affective one. In March of 1995 he won another award for Outstanding Special effects on a 4 minute short story presentation which he helped write, produce, star and, shoot with other fellow students. He released another single called "Blue Skies" sang by Charles Clark, on Hollywood Artist Record Label as part of a compilation with other artists but this album was a total flop. In 1998 he began to experiment more with electronic music sounds and the PC quickly became his best friend. Suddenly there was no need for him to pay for long expensive hours of recording time in the studios and finally had full control over his music. In 2000 his first CD, "Open Your Mind to the New Millenium" Vol. 1, was released ...
