| | Walter Trout Full Circle CD (2006)
Living One And Ten CD music
$13.19 In his mid-fifties at the time of this album's release in 2006, Walter Trout seemed to be in a reflective mood. His 2005 album was a collection of older, previously unreleased tracks from various stages in his extensive career. This follow-up finds him reconnecting with many artists he has worked with, laying down newly recorded originals. In fact, this is Trout's first studio recorded disc of fresh material since 2001's Go the Distance. As the Full Circle title implies, the guitarist rounds up some musicians/friends he has played with for a spontaneous set of performances. The liner notes explain that some of these tracks were unrehearsed first takes, and the heightened energy level throughout reflects that. Also impressive is that Trout was eye-to-eye with each artist, as opposed to projects where guests lay down solos at various times in different cities and never see each other. The disc kicks off in fine, ...
| | W C Spencer Bluescat CD (1997)
Living One And Ten music CDs
$11.39 Scientists have been complaining forever it seems about how little of the human brain actually gets used. W.C. Spencer will change a few minds about that. Using his feet as the rhythm section, guitarist and musician Spencer has created a unique vehicle for the delivery of blues music. Inventor and executer of an eight-piece drum kit played with one foot, he also plays organist's bass pedals with the other foot while playing guitar and tops off the act with a blazing harmonica and great vocals - physically doing all of the above simultaneously! Spencer started playing when he was 10 years and in 1974, invented the first parts of what was to become the Alectroset™ drum kit. Spencer has played all over since then with some wonderfully good players like Roy Buchanan, Sonny Terry, Sam Lay, Nils Lofgren, Leon Redbone, Merle Haggard, Robert Palmer, Danny Gatton and many others. In 1994, Spencer resumed his music career after 10 years off the road .The result was the first album, 'Bluescat', where seven of the thirteen selections were recorded live to 2 track master by the artist in real-time, displaying the artist's credentials as performer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist. The remaining five tracks, including the lead album track Crosscut Saw, consisted of the base stereo master where Spencer plays his usual setup in ensemble with a lead guitar overdub and, on three ...

| | Elizabeth Ross Alabama Blood CD (2002)
Living One And Ten album
$10.15 The album made it's premiere with the local radio (& internet ) waves right here on Us Folk. We've heard it & it's great, ...this one's going to get some national, even international, air for sure!" Chris Darling, WMPG "Us Folk"Alabama Blood, is a blend of alternative back porch country, gospel, and folk. Her rich voice and stories are accompanied by dobro, harp and the sweet rythyms of Scott Elliot and Richard Hollis of the Boneheads. "It's a strong step into my roots." says Elizabeth, who has been working with some of Portland's finest roots and country musicians, Haakon Kalweit from Shanna and the Hawk, and Rob Sylvain of Gigaphone Records.Artist HistoryI grew up just below Yosemite National Park in California. I began writing when I was 7 or 8.When I saw Elvis with my mom in 1972, it was a pivotal moment; I just had to keep singing and writing. He was the King...After a move across the country to Maine, gigging with a country cover band at VFWs and grange halls all over New England, I started writing my own music again with my duo partner and guitarist, Tom O'Brien. We played together for a few years and released One of A Kind in 1995.Alabama Blood came from a bunch of songs I'd written that were more roots country than folk. Haak Kallweit is a fantastic arranger and writer. We pulled together a wonderful group of guys. Rob Sylvain on dobro and Sean Mencher plays lead guitar on Let Yourself Love her. That tune was written by Judd Strunk (Daisy a Day) - his sons live in Maine. We also had some ...
| | JoAnne Redding How It Is CD (2004)
Living One And Ten CD music
$15.19 Reprinted from Singer & Musician Magazine:I enjoy a strong woman's voice. Both a strong voice, and a strong woman. JoAnne Redding fits the bill. She has a voice that simply does not quit, and her no-nonsense style shines forth in this great CD. However, it's not hard to tell that she's having an absolutely great time, and wants you to have one while you're listening, too. Redding opens with the title track and informs you exactly how it's going to be. The second track, "Credit Card Shuffle" is nothing short of hilarious. The entire CD begs you to sing along, and whether you have the blues or not, you find something great in each track. "I sing what I feel, and I feel what I sing," Redding says. It's no exaggeration. You can tell that Redding throws her heart into the ring each time she opens her mouth, and when you combine that feeling with a great voice the result is an entire CD that's singable and that any listener can relate to. I particularly loved "Tread Softly," "Love and A Song," and "I've Earned The Right (To Sing The Blues)."From Blues Freepress:JoAnne Redding's new album How It Is kicks in with the funky and punchy title track demonstrating her affinity with the bluesier end of the roots spectrum. When the music turns acoustic the feeling is more of country and mountain roots. All ten tracks are JoAnne Redding original compositions thus displaying talent beyond her well-developed and expressive voice. Her music has been getting frequent radio airplay ...
