How does a saxophonist become a folk musician? He doesn't. But in the process of trying, Synthetic Folk Hero has discovered a whole other sound called "They Might Be Pee Ween Zappa Herman". Fresh from 6 years of touring as saxman with Montreal's ska legends the Planet Smashers, SFH transmutes this high-spirited energy into a one man show with a HUGE sound. He simultaneously controls 3 electronic devices, 2 saxophones, 2 microphones, keyboards and defibrillator paddles! SFH sings about spooning, unrequited love, and organic vegetables. In one year he's toured Canada, played shows with a variety of Canadian underground heros (Bob Wiseman, Ox, Planet Smashers, Geoff Berner), and now presents his debut, self-titled CD. SFH is a songwriter's wet dream. From complex songs with polyrhythms to simple songs with four note melodies, his tunes will keep your ears (and mouth) wide open. If you're looking for "hits", dirty songs, intellectual, scientific, arty, or scary songs, you'll find it all under his wacked out SFH umbrella, which "shelters the world from the ordinary". CD features cameos from members of Kazzer, Broken Social Scene, Stars and more!Mixed by Claus Frostell (Moist, Planet Smashers, Ramasutra) Synthetic Folk Hero Music Synthetic Folk Hero Songs | 1. | Defibrillator |

| | Norah Jones Fall CD (2009)
Synthetic Folk Hero CD music
$15.05 With The Fall, Norah Jones completes the transition away from her smooth cabaret beginnings and toward a mellowly arty, modern singer/songwriter. Jones began this shift on 2007's Not Too Late, an album that gently rejected her tendencies for lulling, tasteful crooning, but The Fall is a stronger, more cohesive work, maintaining an elegantly dreamy state that's faithful to the crooner of Come Away with Me while feeling decidedly less classicist. ...
| | Tom Petty Live Anthology CDs (2009)
Synthetic Folk Hero music CDs
$19.98 It's a commonly held opinion among fans and band alike that Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' lone live album, 1986's Pack Up the Plantation, didn't quite capture the group at its peak, so there has been a long-standing need for another live set, which 2009's Live Anthology finally provides. Like its closest cousin, Bruce Springsteen's Live 1975-1985, Live Anthology almost overcompensates for the long wait by offering almost too much music, cherrypicking highlights from 1978 to 2007. In its simplest incarnation, Live Anthology is a super-affordable, four-disc box set running 48 tracks, which is eight cuts longer than Springsteen's box, plenty long enough for most fans, but in its deluxe version, available only through ...
| | John Mayer Battle Studies CD (2009)
Synthetic Folk Hero songs
$12.95 It's no secret that John Mayer is a 21st Century Fox, wining and dining women all through tabloid headlines, so it's about time he delivered an album that traded upon his loverman persona -- and Battle Studies is that record in spades. Retaining more than a modicum of the slick, soul-blues undertones of Continuum, Mayer fashions a modern groove album, a record that maintains a smooth seductive vibe so thoroughly it spills into a one-man band cover of "Crossroads." Mayer remains somewhat of a disciple of Slowhand, but he shows an unusual interest in the big AOR stylings of Journeyman, along with Stevie Ray Vaughan's In Step, creating a coolly clean blend of synths and Strats, one that's as much about texture as it is about song.something perfectly appropriate for a make-out ...
| | The Very Best Of Enya CDs (2009) With DVD
Synthetic Folk Hero album
$21.00 Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days" in the pot and out of the way, it's easier to appreciate hidden gems like "Cursum Perficio," "Boadicea," "Trains and Winter Rains," and "Anywhere Is." Also notable is the inclusion of "May It Be" ...

Starting back in 1999, The Krims have played a variety of different venues from bars to festivals to musical showcases. In May of 2003, The Krims entered Grimm Studios in Portland, Oregon to lay down what is now known as Lusk. This sophomore LP displays everything that The Krims have to offer on eleven tracks. Chrissie Holzer's amazing voice creates a unique environment of music and mood while the rest of the band lays a solid foundation of emotion and energy. As one, the band's sound is distinct and powerful. The Krims have solidified themselves as one of the most diverse and energetic acts to come out of the Midwest. Their shows have captured the attention of audiences ...

| | Santa Carla Motion Picture CD (2003)
Synthetic Folk Hero songs
$9.59 Santa Carla. Sounds like the name of some mysterious, sun-soaked town on the Pacific coast. You may know it as the 'Murder Capital Of The World' in the classic 1987 picture 'The Lost Boys.' Now it serves as the calling card for the new British band Santa Carla. The band chose the name because "Being in this band is sometimes like being on a creepy boardwalk carousel. Vampires and cold, heartless bloodsuckers are everywhere in the music biz." Santa Carla are a band for the Ferris Bueller generation, overflowing with colourful, consise pop tunes, indelible choruses, razor sharp lyrics and broad influences - from Ben Folds to XTC, from Pearl Jam to McCartney. Like Michael Knight, Santa Carla consider themselves lone crusaders in a dangerous world. They combat musical baddies with their off-beat recipe of bulletproof melodies, juggernaut basslines, zen guitars and epic harmonies. The band was born of a friendship between three Liverpool lads, the songwriting team at the heart of the outfit... Simon Barber, Brian O'Connor and Chris Pye met in a dank city centre rehearsal room in the winter of 1995 after seeing an advert posted by Chris. They worked the underground Liverpool scene between '98-01 testing out their material and evolving, but like the shooters in Dallas in '63, they did their job unnoticed ...
