| | Too Busy Surfing CD Us Discography of CDs
Aloha Everyone! Us (Da North Shore Surf Band) have played their Own Brand of Nonconforming , Innovative, "Original Music" in the Hawaiian Islands, for more than ten years. Their Original Sound encompasses Rock, Superior Surf Music, Pop, Reggae, Rap, Ska, Jazzy, Mellow and Hip Hop (Hip Hop isn't on this Album) as you will notice, when you listen to their Second and Newest Album, "Too Busy Surfing". Members of the Band do not compromise their musical morals. They like to play, "Original Music". They are Unique and True to their Musical Art Froms. Us's Music, is on Seven Surf Videos, the Movie, "Surf Ninjas" and it's Sound Track (by Atlantic Records), along with Tone Loc, Bad Company, Marky Mark, etc, etc. And their Music, is played on Surf TV Programs: H30 (way back), Back Door, Board Stories and Ra (Australian). Their Music Video of "Dance on the Water", by Jeffery S. Caldwell, won a Music Video Contest here in Hawaii and was played on MTV. also, Us's Music, has been played on Radio Stations around the World. "Us", also turned down an offer to be on Atlantic Records. I know most Bands would do about Anything, to be on Atlantic; Lep Zeppelin, Aretha Franklin, Frank Zappa, Ray Charles and lots of Big Artist and Bands are on Atlantic. And most people, think we're Nut's not to go with Atlantic Records. But We think, the Big Record Companies, like Atlantic, basically, tie you up, Suck you in and Later, Rip you Off and Spit you out. But they Could and Do, Make Lots of Band's Big, Rich and Famous. We Feel we Don't need or want them. If you LOVE "ORIGINAL MUSIC" Great Vocals and Lyrics, Ripping Guitars, Smoking Sax, Great Bass and Percussions; this Album Goes OFF!!! Their Wide Range of Musical Styles and Five lead Vocalists, makes this Album: "Too Busy Surfing", Very Interesting, Fun and Exciting! You'll probably, Love Every Song! Aloha, Dakine K. Paka (Check out, listening to the first two minutes of each song, Free)
Hawaiian septet Us call themselves the "North Shore surf band," but Too Busy Surfing isn't what most mainlanders think of as surf music. In fact, the title track kicks off the album with a fractured, jittery take on funk that sounds oddly (but not unappealingly) exactly like early singles by the U.K. post-punk dance band A Certain Ratio. But after that promising beginning, the rest of Too Busy Surfing rushes through a variety of styles that occasionally simply becomes confusing: ska, dub reggae, funk, pop, soul, and smooth jazz all crop up here and there in the course of this overlong 77-minute album. It's impossible to get any kind of handle on Us, who change musical identities from song to song; for some artists, this is evidence of a wide-ranging aesthetic, but Us never put the pieces together in any meaningful way: the cod-reggae "Rasta Lady" and the endless, plodding white boy blooze of "Mojo" barely even sound like they come from the same musicians. Listening to Too Busy Surfing is unnervingly like hearing a somewhat desperate wedding band run through every type of music they know in the hopes that the event planners will hear something, anything, they like. It's a tiring, and finally rather irritating, listen. ~ Stewart Mason

Too Busy Surfing music CDs
$18.55 Milan Polak's Dreamscapes is a very interesting instrumental album on the Finnish Lion Music label, with something for everyone finding its way on to this 13-song adventure. The tune "4 A.M." is jazz-flavored flamenco guitar that Muzak stations of old would have adored. It's beautiful and lulls the unaware listener, who will be jolted when the metallic "Shadowdance" follows, resplendent in Black Sabbath style riffs -- Polak having studied the work of original Ozzy guitarist, the late Randy Rhoades. It could be Sabbath merged with a jazzy version of Deep Purple in their Perfect Strangers period. So very different from the pretty acoustics of "Contrapunctus III," just two songs before it, which could fit nicely into a Tangerine Dream set -- a band Milan Polak toured with as guitarist. As a latter day musician for the late Austrian star Falco, of "Rock Me Amadeus" fame, one can understand the diverging styles on this impressive disc. The album opener, "Panic Room," is hardly an indication of what's inside -- the music is as varied as the life of the man magazines have called "the most talented guitarist of Austria." The titles themselves seem to come from American movies: "Panic Room" and "Joyride," the former a charging hard rocker which shifts genres, the latter a superb pop song which, with some lyrics, could be a hit for a reconstituted Bachman Turner Overdrive (their lighter and more accessible side), or even Todd Rundgren. Polak's life, detailed on his web page as having been lived in Korea, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Austria, Germany, Singapore, Italy and the U.S.A., certainly is reflected in the multiple musical episodes exhibited here. The only "voice" appearing on the album is the telephone call from an alleged groupie which opens up "Girlfriends," a solid progressive pop tune with big-hit potential. "Dreamscapes" is Tangerine Dream dropping the ostentatious synth air and the hard rock -- but you won't hear that in the sound -- so very different from their ...

Too Busy Surfing songs
$18.99 ABCD The Soundtrack is a fusion of eastern and western influences and instruments, which musically captures an Indian family's struggle for cultural identity in present day America. Blending American pop and classic Indian elements, the score utilizes a palette of acoustic and electronic instrumentation, resulting in powerful and emotive instrumental tracks and featuring five original songs. The warmth and intricate density of the album are remarkable, especially considering that Deirdre Broderick created the soundtrack in a small studio environment, composing, performing, recording and mixing every element herself.ABCD The Movie - is the story of first generation Asian Indian immigrant children who have grown up in America. Writer/Director Krutin Patel's story revolves around characters that feel culturally lost: they can no longer fully adhere to the customs of the country they left behind, yet they don't feel that they belong to mainstream American culture either. The main character, Nina, is rebelling against the conservative Hindu values of her mother through sex and self-destruction. Or self-actualization, depending on which side you fall in the intense debate that this film has sparked among Indian communities in the U.S. and in India. Even though the story centers on a specific ethnic group, the universal nature of the struggle to know who you are within and without your family has resonated with people all over the world. Musically, the challenge for composer Deirdre Broderick was to provide a dramatic score that would mirror the conflicts but also weave a unified voice into the turbulent emotional life of the screenplay. By drawing upon elements of both modern pop music and classical Indian music, ...

Too Busy Surfing album
$16.45 Hannah Ford's brand new 2008 album, "FERVENCY" has arrived early, just in time for Christmas!!! This album is so well-written, well-produced, and full of life that it's going to go far!! It is powerful, encouraging, fun, and heart warming, all in one. There are both rocked out and beautiful worship songs, heartfelt prayers written for the Tsunami victims, the children of the world, a drug addict friend, and the world in general. There are songs dealing struggles, hope, and courage, as well. Hannah's focus is deep but her love of joy is also extremely present in the album. Her fun, soon to be a hit, song "Traffic" is one that everyone who lives in the city can relate with! (There's also a fun hidden track!) From the rocky "Fire in My Bones" to the soft ballad, "Jesus, Hold the Children" and melodic/alternative "Falling in Your Love," you're in for something very special. The more you listen, the more you'll be moved.(Album also includes "Tomame". It was written in Spanish and translated into English.BIOGRAPHYHannah has been singing and writing music for many years. She's also an experienced and anointed worship leader. She has a passion to use everything in her, including her music, to bring people closer to God, wherever they're at in their spiritual journeys. As a result of Hannah's missionary travels, her first album, “Beautiful Love” is airing in several countries and is enjoyed by listeners all over the US, Morocco, the Philippines, Russia, Mexico, etc. Over the past couple of years, she's been able to sing live and share on ABC news, National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” show, and numerous radio stations around the US. In 2003 she was voted the “The Fresh New Artist of the Year Award” by listeners of KKLA and The Fish 95.9 FM. She was awarded this in a competition between 2,300 other Los Angeles and Orange County musicians and songwriters. God used this competition to confirm to her that she was to step out in faith into full time ministry. She also won “Best Unsigned Artist” in 2001 by a popular internet radio station. Stay tuned for her next project, "Fervency." All glory to God.Hannah would love to come to your area for a concert, leading worship, or speaking.
